This morning I was fighting with smoke detectors again. I counted them. Eight. That is total overkill. Between 10 ft tall ceilings and having so many of them, and they’re ridiculously close to each other, it’s hard to isolate them. I can’t just pull a battery out of the extra ones since they’re sneakily wired together. I had to stand in the hall forever, waiting for the culprit to beep again.

It’s like being on a stakeout. I’m stuck, unable to get anything done while I wait. And wait. And wait. Give up, go do something else, and it beeps. I would ignore it, but my puppies are so upset, they’re both wanting on my lap, and when I went to get the ladder, they were both cuddled together under my desk.

Three changed out…five more to go. I don’t want to change them all out at once, because you know what would happen. It’s been several months since the last one went out, and only about a week between two of them.

Yesterday was a really long babysitting day, then my daughter wanted a professional photo, so I did that. So….I didn’t make my word count from the day before, 600 words short, couldn’t make them up last night, and I need 2600 today, to get back on track.
