Pelicans

So Texas opened businesses yesterday, and I stayed home. Of course. Over 63,000 dead in the States and it was nuts here yesterday.

Okay, so I admit, I got it wrong. I thought people would be more cautious, wear masks, do social distancing, at least for a while when things opened up. Forget that!!! Who let the people out of their cages?

My daughter’s coworker went to the grocery store yesterday and said it was nuts. I’m glad I went a few days before that happened. Crowded with people bringing whole families, all the kids, no masks. Another coworker had to drive up the interstate to see her brother-in-law in the hospital who is going through chemo treatment for cancer and the interstate was absolutely gridlocked.

Okay, so not enough testing, we really don’t have an issue, let’s all go back to working and playing as if nothing happened. Nothing is happening. Good. I’m glad we can live like everything is fine. Until everything is not.

I’d say use common sense. The problem is–going back to that earlier comment–no testing means we don’t have a problem. So common sense says–go for it!

I have to go get blood work done on Monday. Have to. Other than that, I don’t intend to go anywhere until I have to go to the grocery store again. And I’m wearing a mask. Will it be enough for me to do my part? I hope so. That’s all I can do.

I haven’t been reading the death toll. I haven’t been reading what’s going on about any of it because I can’t write when I keep hearing how bad it is.

I was visiting with my kids, who are also staying home, working from home, wearing masks and only going to the grocery store when they have to, and we were listening to two loud parties going on in their neighborhood–lots of people crammed together–having fun. It’s wonderful. I hope that everyone remains safe. That it’s over. Wouldn’t that be great?

We heard tons of sirens near where they live. I suspected it was a big vehicle accident–people crowding the highway, having forgotten how to drive.

I am staying home today. Again. And writing. It’s not that I wouldn’t love to get out and do tons of things I haven’t been able to, but…

Hope you stay safe too!
