Pelicans in Flight

Of course I had to get a nice rear shot. The one where he was flying at me was all out of focus.

I’m off to write. Managed 3,000 words yesterday on Dreaming of the Highland Wolf novella, need 7,000 more to reach word count.

We are in the hot zone, crisis zone, red alert zone, whatever you want to call it that says: FAIL.

Have a super great day and try to stay safe!

Come Sail Away, Come Sail Away…

Come sail away with me…

Pelican pictures I took in San Diego.

I’m sailing through edits! Yay! 10th Anniversary Wolf Fever turned in, and now working on final edits for Red Wolf and proof it one more time before I turn it in. Then I need to do the marketing materials–long synopsis.

It’s HOT and MUGGY out. I was out pulling grass and weeds and putting down bark mulch. I think cement works better. Ha-ha! Took my walk. Now it’s time to get back to the book!

Have a fun day and if it’s hot there, stay cool. But always stay SAFE. Wear masks, social distance, even with things opening up. Take care of yourself, if not your fellow man.

And have a great day!

Pelicans

So Texas opened businesses yesterday, and I stayed home. Of course. Over 63,000 dead in the States and it was nuts here yesterday.

Okay, so I admit, I got it wrong. I thought people would be more cautious, wear masks, do social distancing, at least for a while when things opened up. Forget that!!! Who let the people out of their cages?

My daughter’s coworker went to the grocery store yesterday and said it was nuts. I’m glad I went a few days before that happened. Crowded with people bringing whole families, all the kids, no masks. Another coworker had to drive up the interstate to see her brother-in-law in the hospital who is going through chemo treatment for cancer and the interstate was absolutely gridlocked.

Okay, so not enough testing, we really don’t have an issue, let’s all go back to working and playing as if nothing happened. Nothing is happening. Good. I’m glad we can live like everything is fine. Until everything is not.

I’d say use common sense. The problem is–going back to that earlier comment–no testing means we don’t have a problem. So common sense says–go for it!

I have to go get blood work done on Monday. Have to. Other than that, I don’t intend to go anywhere until I have to go to the grocery store again. And I’m wearing a mask. Will it be enough for me to do my part? I hope so. That’s all I can do.

I haven’t been reading the death toll. I haven’t been reading what’s going on about any of it because I can’t write when I keep hearing how bad it is.

I was visiting with my kids, who are also staying home, working from home, wearing masks and only going to the grocery store when they have to, and we were listening to two loud parties going on in their neighborhood–lots of people crammed together–having fun. It’s wonderful. I hope that everyone remains safe. That it’s over. Wouldn’t that be great?

We heard tons of sirens near where they live. I suspected it was a big vehicle accident–people crowding the highway, having forgotten how to drive.

I am staying home today. Again. And writing. It’s not that I wouldn’t love to get out and do tons of things I haven’t been able to, but…

Hope you stay safe too!

What Doesn’t Belong?

When I was a kid, I loved picking out the pictures at school of things that didn’t belong.  When grouping photos, it can be the same.

Now, if I’d kept a sea theme, then everything but the roses and fountain would be correct. If I wanted to use the color peach, then the crayfish and rose would be correct. Or I could have had seabirds and that was it.

But I picked the rose picture first, then saw the cool picture I’d taken of the crayfish, and I was off on a tangent. 🙂

Have fun day being organized or disorganized, whatever makes you happy. 🙂

You’re Never Too Old…

…to learn new things. It may seem like it sometimes, but no matter how old, or young you are, learning something new can seem impossible, or possible. We just have to keep working at it, never letting go of the dream.

So one of the things I really have always wanted to do is create real story art, and so while I was looking at the Pretty Actions Forum and some of their fantastic guest bloggers, is Karen Alsop’s Story Art.

Photographer Spotlight + Celebrity Mentor: Karen Alsop with Story Art

I mean, this to me would be the ultimate in creating art, don’t you think? Love it! Well, maybe someday I can get there. I signed up for her year long tutorials and maybe if I work at it hard enough, but even so, sometimes no matter how hard you work at something, it’s never as great as someone else’s work, but you know what? We all have our own “voice” or unique technique whether it’s writing, or creating art, photography, or just living life. We are unique and everything will be unique that we accomplish. Really.

Have you ever had someone in your home doing things differently than you’re used to? Or riding with someone in the car and they take you a different route than YOU always go and it’s driving you nuts, because you know your way is better?

See?

So that’s my goal. Or, at least one of them. lol I’m still taking the Photoshop tutorial class that has taught me tons, watched lots of free tutorials, and just turned in the synopsis and stuff for SEAL Wolf Undercover so they can begin to work on the cover, and have edits on Between a Wolf and a Hard Place, and am still plugging along on White Wolf Christmas. 28,000 words to go! Downhill slide from here! And I have a crepe myrtle I still have to plant! The mosquitoes are keeping me from it.

3 pelicans soaring up above text 900x4003 pelicans soaring up above--sky 900x600I used the Pretty Actions Vivid Skies Overlay on this one too. I was trying to get pictures of the pelicans in the harbor, but when we went out to the ocean side, I had tons of opportunities. Don’t they look like ancient birds?

Have a super great day! I need to get my word count and start edits! 🙂
