Did I Hear a Bottle Top Pop?

I was off shipping bears and books this morning and picking up shrimp for our New Year’s Eve party and I’ll be taking over dog nail clippers (I have an extra pair), dead fern fronds (for mulch), empty containers for seedlings, cuttings for indoor plants, and my Christmas chocolates from England from my daughter and SIL. He saw them before my daughter wrapped them up for Christmas and he was so sad that he couldn’t have some. lol So I’m bringing them to share. I need to share them!

Off to work on the story. Hope your New Year’s Eve is safe and your new year is the best!

Harry Potter Gingerbread

I decided to take down my Christmas decorations. I still need to take down the lights out front. But we had wild thunderstorms last night. We went to the Houston Museum yesterday and my granddaughter was worried the mummies would be running around like Halloween mummies. It was interesting seeing a Roman mummy who was bearded. They didn’t know who he was. Most of the Romans from that age were clean shaven.

My granddaughter wasn’t sure about the huge dinosaur skeletons either. It really was a sprint through the whole museum, but it was a lot of fun.

A Trip to the Zoo

Today will be a trip to the museum, and then for the next 4 days, I have off to WRITE. I’m going to write. Even if it’s not good writing or great writing. Writing something is better than nothing. I can fix something. I can’t fix nothing.

So I finished 2 more bears, well, 3. A new red bear that I will show off tomorrow, but the other bears are sold. I hope to ship them Friday. Today we have rain and other plans.

I do have to also cut back all my vegetation that died with the hard freeze also. I did some of that yesterday, but primarily worked on the bears and then we went to the zoo. We had a great time. It was really fun.

Zoo Lights at Christmas

It’s almost the end of the year and I’m not ready for the new year! 🙂 It means taking down all the Christmas decorations. Getting my tax stuff in order. Always a nightmare. lol And getting back to a regular writing routine. I’ve been in a quandary about how to proceed with the story. So that’s always a nuisance!

But I am ready for the new book to come out in February!

We’re going to see the Christmas lights at the zoo today and that will be fun!

It’s going to be 76 today, but was 39 this morning, so lots of layering!

Doing a million things at once today so need to finish this!!! That way I’ll feel like I’ve accomplished something!

Not a Fairy Ring…

I finished two bears yesterday, working on 3 more today. I haven’t been able to get my writing mojo back. I managed nearly a 1,000 words, but…argh. It’s just not coming to me.

Back to Reality

We had a delightful Christmas! Now it’s back to work before the new year gets here!!

It’s still freezing this morning, but then we’ll get to 59 and by Wednesday, the high will be 73. Weird weather.

Merry Christmas!

We’re getting together early this morning for Christmas. You know with a five year old, there’s no waiting. So last night, she said we had to put out cookies for the elves and Santa. Milk for Santa, and oats for the reindeer. lol She’s so cute.

Happy Christmas Eve!

My dogs with me while I’m making teddy bears. 🙂 They will sleep there, but if I move at all, they’re alert. They won’t be left behind. So I grabbed the camera from my sewing machine and took a shot of them watching me, wondering what I was up to.

Today, my granddaughter and I are making 7-layer magic bars. Yum. I put them in one of my recent stories and I haven’t made them in years. Then we’re going over to have Christmas Eve dinner at her place and then the next morning we’ll have Christmas here.

Okay, off to put my bear supplies away for a while. I have 3 bears made up, need to make up 2 more and finish these 3 also, but it’s time to clean up for Christmas!

It’s Cold Out There!

Okay, so you know you’re doing too much writing when you can’t find something in your house and you want desperately to use a SEARCH and FIND feature to locate it.

So the temperature dropped and we lost electricity for a short while. ugh. I was trying to turn on my lanterns, but I remove batteries so they don’t corrode when I’m not using them. Put in brand new batteries, most of them weren’t working. Electricity is back on, but even my phone wouldn’t work. After another twenty minutes, it was finally working.

Kids’ electric was out also. But it knocked out their heater. At least it’s still 59 in the house. I offered for them to come here and warm up. Thankfully, we’re only a half mile from each other.They have a repairman coming to fix it. Just hope it doesn’t happen over Christmas. One year at Christmastime, we had a frozen water pipe break, flooding the house and it was just me with a 5 year old and toddler! No plumbers were on call and I couldn’t shut off the water. The turn off valve was frozen. I finally got a hold of some friends and he shut off the water while his wife and I cleaned up the flood. But then we had no water! That was a Christmas to remember.

Hope the electric stays on. Dripping water and making bags of freezer ice.

Temperatures are Dropping!

I was out early this morning pulling up the rest of the tomato plants, moving my herb garden container, pulling up marigolds and zinnia and getting ready to empty the bird bath and water fountain, and cover the Indian hawthorn. It says it can get down to 5 degrees, but the one time we had prolonged temperatures in the teens, I didn’t think it would come back. So I cover it now if it’s going to be below freezing.

Everything else is on its own.

Okay, off to work on bears and the book!
