I don’t mean they’re going to flower pretty soon, but that they bloom for a short time and that’s it until the next year. This is a lavender azalea, love it, but I picked up a couple of Autumn azalea’s that are supposed to bloom 3 times a year. We shall see.
When I take a walk around the neighborhood, I see how others have planted their gardens. Some are humdrum–just how they were planted when the homes were built, no flowers, just a few shrubs and trees. I will say though, that at least they do landscape the homes, which is nice because some homeowners wouldn’t ever do anything with their yards otherwise and it makes the walk very pleasing. Others are creative.
I like the creative ones. My neighbor across the street has expanded her planting beds and what caught my attention were how beautiful her red roses are in various spots in the garden that help to please the eye. I have red roses too, one is a drift and the other a regular sized red rose bush that will get big, but I think I need a couple of more to make the eye wander around the property to really make the connection. I have a peach rose out front too, but red really stands out, though the peach one is small and spectacular. It’s the one that has pink and peach all on one rosebush. Really a beautiful rosebush.
Red crape myrtles will do that also–be showy and riveting, same with red snapdragons. I put in purple magic crape myrtles, but I would love to get some true red crape myrtles too. I need a bigger yard. lol
I could play in my gardens all day, wishing they were more “grown up,” but every year they are more beautiful. And every year I enjoy their more established look. Of course as they get more established, I realize some of the plants need to be moved because some of them are getting bigger and hiding the others. Then the poor plants have to readjust to their new homes. But they’re all doing well.
Got to run and work on the story. I put a splashpad out for my granddaughter yesterday late afternoon. My backyard was nice and shaded and she had fun for an hour. It kind of wore her out before her mom and dad picked her up.
I’ve been up forever and need to get to work, but first, I had to shut down my computer because my internet wouldn’t connect. Then I was grooming Tanner while waiting for it to restart, and once I have the poor puppy in my lap and I’m combing him out, there’s no stopping me. He’s good natured about it though.
Okay, I’m off to write. Time is running away from me and the kids asked my to take care of my granddaughter tomorrow while they play board games. That shoots a lot of writing down. I’m up to 20K on the white wolf novella though. I need to finish it up!!
Have a super, duper day! Mine is going to be great! Once I get it started.
I needed to pull up one of my wolf pictures to remind me of what I’m writing about. White Wolf to the Rescue.
I received edits for another book, first edits and they’re always worse, and then a reminder that my Billionaire novel is due July 1st and wanting to know when I’m going to turn in White Wolf….I’m trying to get it done! With more Easter stuff to do than I had planned, I ended up writing less. I did manage 1666 words yesterday on my off day, so that helps. And I still need to do a ton of promotional stuff for SEAL Wolf Surrender’s release on May 27th.
And I have my son’s wedding coming up, so that’s going to take time. And the dogs are trying to dig under the fence to get to the dogs next door, so need to keep working on blocking that up, keep weeding, still planting seeds, and want to start some tomato plants when I return. Sometimes, I just need to do something other than just–writing!
Okay, so enough chit-chat! I’ve got to run!!! And I need to write! Enjoy your beautiful day!
Beauty is all around us. We just have to pause, look, and see.
I wrote 2,500 words on the novella. I’m trying to finish it so I can get back to the novel, but I have baby here today. But I’ll try to get 1,000 today. We’ll be watering, but I’m going to try to get her in her swimsuit this time. She was so silly, running through the hose and getting soaked. It was hot, and she had a blast.
She’s due here shortly. Now, if only she’ll take a nap today!
It was a napless day, which meant Grandma had to play all day with little one. She finally, finally, finally fell asleep 5 minutes before her momma arrived. We had walked around the neighborhood, played in the water, played chase around the house, run errands, played in her tent, read stories, watched pre-school shows, eaten, and she was getting so tired, and upset, but fighting sleep. We finally went outside to look at flowers while I carried her around and she was getting sleepier and sleepier. Then I walked inside, sat down, and she fell asleep in my arms, right before her momma knocked on the door.
Sooooo, Wednesday, we have to get a nap. Please. I get so much done while she sleeps! lol But even so, I managed to get 1,300 words written on the novella. I’ve given up on the novel, for the moment. Too difficult to do both at the same time. I’m over halfway done on the novella, a quarter of the way done on the novel.
These sunny little flowers are marigolds and they’re popping up all over the place from planting them last year. I love annuals that will reseed themselves and I can enjoy them again and again, without having to plant again!
Baby is here. I spent a lot of time Easter egg hunting Friday and Sunday, well, not really, I got to take pictures of my granddaughter, uhm, hunting for eggs one day, but on Sunday, she was much more interested in stopping the whirligigs that were twirling in the wind. While other kids filled their baskets to the brim, she totally ignored the eggs. lol
Okay, I’m off to play with her and hopefully get a little writing done. Have a beautiful day!!!
