Redheaded Woodpecker

I moved my feeder next to the rosebush so that I could see it while I was writing. And guess what? The redheaded woodpecker I saw three years ago, or maybe a new one, showed up again! He feels like he’s far enough away from my window, but also, instead of a bare pine tree, I have lots of vegetation–crape mytles, youpon holly, and the rosebush around it and it might feel safer.

He’s a beautiful bird and I was thrilled to see him here.

Word count…? Ugh. I was revising White Wolf and that’s always a killer on word count. Add, take away, add, take away. We had an Easter egg hunt and barbecue yesterday, and when I got home, I couldn’t get into either story. So going to try and do better today. Hopefully.

Creating a Story from a Photo

I took this photo of a trio of birdhouses last year, and then with the Adobe Watercolor action, played around and created a watercolor.

I’m off to photograph my granddaughter’s Easter egg hunt and have a barbecue, so will have to get caught up on writing later today!

White Winged Dove

I moved the feeder so that when I took pictures, it would have a better background instead of just the fence. So here you can see the roses surrounding the feeders.

Well, we’re supposed to get rain today and I’ve got my granddaughter for a lot longer today, so I need to get out and walk with her early. It’s too dark yet. Maybe, if I’m lucky, I’ll get some writing in! I did manage to get 2,000 on the novella yesterday, making 6,000. I need 19,000 to finish it. But of course, I’m getting more behind on my other book. *sigh* And we’re doing the Easter egg hunt for my granddaughter early on Friday and then a barbecue, so that wasn’t something I planned, but we’ll have a lot of fun.

I’m off to cuddle with my granddaughter and try to get something done! Have a lovely day!!!

Sometimes a Peanut Hits the Spot

It’s a writing day today. I have to get more done! I tried to yesterday, turned in the 2nd blog, and still had to write the last one. But my granddaughter was a handful until she fell asleep on my lap, yay! And I finally began writing on White Wolf to the Rescue. I had planned to take her for a long walk, but she was so tired, I wanted to wait until she had a nap. Didn’t work because she slept for over 3 hours, nearly until her momma picked her up.

So I’m off to write! Have a fun day!!!

Monarch Caterpillar Cocoons

I kept trying to capture the stages of the monarch caterpillar getting ready to transform to the butterfly stage. So this one was looking for a home, first on the chives in the planter, then finding a spot to attach himself to on the side of the planter. Next time I looked, he was already in his cocoon.

The same with this one. He was just on the other side of the pillar and he was getting ready to do the same thing at the same time. It’s amazing how big they are and they can fit into such a tiny cocoon.

Okay, I’m off to write! I wrote 2,000 words on Billionaire so am 3,000 words behind now, so chiseling away at it, but also wrote two promotional blogs, need one more, and 1,000 on the novella. Baby is here, so trying to type up the other promotional blog and turn it in, and hope to get some word count later.

Calling to the Hummingbirds with Their Sweet Song

And they attract butterflies. Lilac pentas, red pentas, milkweed, blue columbine, esperanza and daylilies, a Garden of Eden for hummingbirds and butterflies, bumblebees and honeybees.

Okay, I managed 2,000 words on the new novella Legend of the White Wolf’s White Wolf to the Rescue, and that’s a start! I also wrote 1,000 on Billionaire She-Wolf, only 3,000 more words to catch up, and sent in excerpts for the promo blogs. I need to write 3 of them, and make some graphics, a video book trailer also.

But for now, I’m back to word count. Which book? The one that is due soonest, but I don’t want to lose ground on Billionaire. *sigh*

We had terrific storms all day yesterday, but I managed to plant the columbine and a new gerbera daisy. Post about it tomorrow. Oh, and found another new woodland fern growing, love ferns. They remind me of living in Oregon and California. That means I’m starting to have some shade gardens. I want to plant some hostas!

Gerbera Daisies Are Like Colorful Smiley Faces in the Garden

I love the Gerbera daisies. The flowers are so large and showy and they’re perennial so they come back every year. My neighbor across the street had them and I fell in love with them. In fact, this is the first I’ve had where I’ve had so much fun trying a variety of flowers and finding the ones that do stupendously, and the ones that fail miserably.

I pulled up my Legend of the White Wolf to try and come up with a novella idea, still thinking. And I managed my word count yesterday, but that was all. I went shopping for clothes and food and of course I couldn’t resist picking up some more flowers. Of course. Now I need to plant them!

My granddaughter is coming over tonight so Momma and Daddy can do an 80’s Banquet at her school district, and that means? I’ve got to get my writing done early. I’m still 4,000 behind and need to start writing the promo blogs.

Our 100% change of rain has dropped to 90%. It’s warm out, though it says it’s supposed to be 49. Don’t know when to believe the weatherman.

They’re Everywhere! They’re Everywhere!

And that’s a good thing! Monarch caterpillars are everywhere. Unfortunately, some eggs were laid on milkweed that didn’t have many leaves, so they devoured them quickly. I have transported a couple of them to the other side of the backyard where there’s plenty to eat. Who would have ever thought I’d want a bug to eat my plants? But the butterflies are beautiful and they’re losing their habit. So I’ve planted a butterfly haven. Zinnia should be coming up soon and the butterflies love them too. The seeds are sprouting, and I just planted pentas and hummingbirds and butterflies love them.

Okay, I’m 4,000 words behind, so still catching up. But I think I might need to switch stories and start writing on the novella that’s due sooner. *sigh*

And I have babysitting duty on Saturday evening, so must get my word count in early.

Catching Up

Slowly but surely, I’m cutting down on the word count I’m behind. I’ve gone from 10K to 5K, so now if I can get my 2K today and then some more toward the 5K, I will be inching forward. And that’s a good feeling. I still have promo blogs to do for the upcoming release, more edits coming up for other books, and a novella I need to squeeze in here, so not out of the woods by any stretch of the imagination. BUT, I’ve carved out days for the wedding trip for my son, so I will be getting some writing in during that time also, and I’ve left those days free of word count, so I’m hoping to catch up even more then. I can’t use that as a crutch though. If I do, figuring I can just plan to write during that time, what if I don’t have time?

So I plug along. If I had some whirlwind ideas to push me forever, I’d be all set. Sometimes it happens.

I’m off to see the tax lady to get this done this morning, and then back to the book.
