Gerbera Daisy Photo Art

Well, still no baby. I was rushing around to get the garbage out and feed the dogs and need to feed the birds. Little one will be here momentarily. I was cleaning house yesterday. I don’t know how things can get so messy when I’m just working  on the computer all day. lol

But dust accumulates, the dogs drag in grass and pine needles, little one brings out a ton of books for me to read, her workbooks to do, and toys to play with, and oh, yes, all my new fur is sitting on the table, calling me to cut it up into little bears and I don’t want to put it away until I have done so.

And there you have it. Multiple messes and I haven’t hardly created any of it. Except for cooking meals, of course, but I keep after that.

It’s cold again this morning, but I bundled up more. Feels like 49 this morning. I was out trying to break up some of the hibiscus branches to put out with the trash. I don’t know if they’ll come back at the roots or not. I put them in last year, so they may be dead completely. My esperanza is coming back at the roots and it will be 10 feet tall during the growing season, but I’m not sure about the hibiscus.

I’d rather have plants that can handle our heat and ice storms if we get them because I don’t want to lose them if we’re going to start getting weirder weather all the time.

My neighbors all over our neighborhood had beautiful Japanese blueberry trees, someone called them and they’re all dead. And so are the oleanders. It’s too costly to keep replacing beautiful plants that have survived 8-10 years and then in one cold freeze–that we might continue to have intermittently–they’re wiped out. Not to mention it’s a pain to take them down.

I’m still not sure about that one pine tree. It looked like it had a bunch of new pine needles. And the boxwood I move is still hanging on. So I wait and see. And I haven’t torn out my hibiscus just yet, though my neighbor, after having his for years, pulled his up and said they didn’t have any live roots, so….

Little one should be here any second. I’ve got to get some more stuff done and work on some more edits on Billionaire. I’m nearly up to 70K. I need 80K minimum, but I was thinking about a car running my heroine off the road and so I need to write that scene next. Yay!

Okay, have a super, fun day and I’m off to have fun with mine!!

Gerbera Daisies Are Like Colorful Smiley Faces in the Garden

Gerbera Daisies

I love the Gerbera daisies. The flowers are so large and showy and they’re perennial so they come back every year. My neighbor across the street had them and I fell in love with them. In fact, this is the first I’ve had where I’ve had so much fun trying a variety of flowers and finding the ones that do stupendously, and the ones that fail miserably.

I pulled up my Legend of the White Wolf to try and come up with a novella idea, still thinking. And I managed my word count yesterday, but that was all. I went shopping for clothes and food and of course I couldn’t resist picking up some more flowers. Of course. Now I need to plant them!

My granddaughter is coming over tonight so Momma and Daddy can do an 80’s Banquet at her school district, and that means? I’ve got to get my writing done early. I’m still 4,000 behind and need to start writing the promo blogs.

Our 100% change of rain has dropped to 90%. It’s warm out, though it says it’s supposed to be 49. Don’t know when to believe the weatherman.

Have a great day!!! I’m off to plant, and then do my walk and then WRITE.

Flowers Blooming Before Christmas & Woodland Fae is Out!

I noticed gerbera daisies blooming the day baby was here so ran out to take some pictures yesterday. The droplets of water on them are from the heavy fog we had.

Lavender lantana, gerbera daisy, yellow daylily, dianthus next to the Christmas lights, and another daisy.

The flowers don’t know it’s winter and time for them to sleep.

Baby’s here for one more day before my daughter has school break and then Grandma gets a break! Or…well, more time to write and edit.

And just released!!!

Woodland Fae.png

Woodland Fae

Letta is a scorpion fae, pretending to be a woodland fae, since her own kind had practically annihilated their own. She’s come of age and must leave her kind behind to make her way in the world. Taking refuge in a cave during a storm in wolf fae territory, she’s attacked by a wolf shifter fae and saves another’s life, who happens to be the pack leader’s sister. But now Letta has a new problem. The bite she’d received turns her into a wolf shifter also, but will the wolf fae pack accept her or scorn her for being one of the deadly scorpion fae if they learn the truth?

Simon is the pack leader for the Wolf Mountain pack and he’s unsure what kind of fae Letta is, not having heard of a woodland fae before. Yet he’s attracted to Letta like he’s never been to a she-wolf before. That causes dissent among some of his wolves who believe another wolf should be his mate and he must prove to his pack that he has what it takes to lead.

Fun in the Garden

Coreopsis, marigolds, giant zinnias, and gerbera daisy

We were supposed to have a beautiful storm, lots of rain, didn’t happen. BUT, it did cool down a bit last night and I was able to pull more grass. I had to water though. First thing at 5 am, it was beastly hot again.

I did finish edits on You Had Me at Shifter! I’ll be re-reading one scene over again this morning, turn it in, and then working on some more edits on SEAL Wolf Surrender. I also worked on Claiming the White Bear last night. I think that gives me 13,000 words. 57,000 more to go!!! So I need to type up my notes on that.

And today, I hope to get the St. Patrick’s Bear done and Santa ready to ship tomorrow.

Oh, and yeah, take pictures…just….because.

Have a lovely Sunday!!!

Massing Color or….Not & It’s EARTH Day!

Pink gerbera daisy, yellow daffodils, hot pink dianthus, red gerbera daisies, red drift roses, yellow Asiatic lily, yellow coreopsis moonbeam, and more flowers about to bloom

Around the neighborhood when I walk, I see where some neighbors mass their colors–all orange marigolds, or yellow lantana, and it’s showy and pretty. That’s what is often recommended. Same plant, same color for a really spectacular setting.

Me? I tend to have a riot of color. I have been adding a lot of the same kind of flowers–the lilies and daylilies so that it’s not just one here and there. And as they get bigger, spread more, they’ll be more noticeable. I had only one red rose bush, and now have two. I notice that neighbors who have more than one in their front yard appear to be more balanced. I added one of the apricot ones too. I can’t help myself. They’re beautiful. But I think another couple of red roses is in order. The drift are small, lower, you don’t have to do a thing with them. So I think I’ll get a couple more of those to balance things out. I have all purple magic crepe myrtles out front so that I have balance with those. 🙂

I had all blaze red roses out front of my house along a fence when I lived in Oklahoma, and it really was pretty, but the blaze eventually died of fungus. My mom had them too all along her white brick wall in Texas and the same thing happened to hers. Knockout roses seem to be the best for hot humid weather and survive fine through the hard freezes we have.

I had a redbud with the prettiest purple flowers and I had a flowering perennial ground cover that was the exact same color! I did it on purpose, NOT, but boy, was it spectacular when all of them were in bloom. So massing color does work!

It’s EARTH Day! Remember the earth, plant a tree, recycle, save water!

Okay, off to work on the story!! Up to 25,000, 55K to go!

Have a wonderful day!!

Taking a LONG Walk

Late posting because I had a mission: Take pictures of purple irises before it was too sunny out. And I walked the wrong way. But that’s okay. I managed to get some shots of a great white heron and a snake bird and walked 3.6 miles. I still also had shots of the irises. I just missed taking a picture of a hawk on a dead tree. By the time I whipped my camera around to take the shot and before I could focus, he flew off.

yellow Asiatic lily, daylily, gerbera daisy, and pink rainbow bear

Two-hundred and ten pictures later, I’m home, trying to cool off and getting ready to immerse myself in SEAL Wolf Surrender.

No more interruptions. But what a wonderful start to a day. I’m just downloading the pictures now, so will have to share tomorrow.

Have a lovely different kind of day too!  🙂 <3

Brrr It’s Cold out There!

I reached over 4,000 words yesterday–76,000 to go, and man, we had a 40-degree drop in temperature and it was rainy all day. It was nice, really. If I’d dressed warmer. I kept thinking it was going to warm up! With a rainy day and blustery wind, it was chilling! I must look at the weather forecast more often.

These are pink gerbera daisies (filled with rainwater), yellow coreopsis, and red ranunculus (buttercup). What’s neat is that they’re all perennials. Like my stories, they keep coming back, keep growing, and are beautiful. Well, at least the flowers are. lol

It’s still cold! But I bundled up better today. The dogs won’t go out without me and I’m rushing them to do their business. At least it will warm up soon, and it isn’t as cold as the blue north. I think my friends in Minnesota and Chicagoland and all those other cold places won’t ever get out of the deep freeze. Sending warm wishes to melt the snow!

Have a great one! Back to the story. 🙂 <3

Time for Flowers! Good Luck Clover!

A four-leaf clover! See, I find stuff when I’m not looking. I was weeding behind these and looked for weeds among these and couldn’t believe my eyes! I’ve never seen one in person before. Which proves my theory–if you’re looking for it, you probably won’t find things. But look for something else, and voila!

Also pictured: Grape hyacinth in front of a fairy gourd house, red gerbera daisy, and the other can’t decide if it’s time to lift its head or not, and wood sorrels oxalis in bloom. 🙂 <3

St. Patrick bears 1000 046

And St. Patrick’s Day bears. I’m working on a green one too. 🙂 <3

Okay, the corgis are coming, so need to get ready to have doggy daycare. All the dogs get excited to see each other. I hope they settle down enough so I can write, garden, take pictures, create fantasy worlds in composites. I always have my days….OVER planned. But that’s what makes them so much fun! 🙂

Have a super, green, flowery day! Even if you just make it up in your dreams.

Rescued Flowers

Sometimes rescuing flowers from garden centers works. Sometimes it doesn’t. Even though these gerbera daisies are beautiful, most of them were looking really bad. They’re the prettiest big flowers, and the other that I had gotten last year (much bigger size in red) never died back, and flowered from late winter to late fall. It’s flowering happily now.

The lavender azaleas’ flowers won’t last much longer and I love purple flowers, so I picked two of them up at half price, though I’d like to get some that are thrice blooming. Those are nearly 10 times the price of these. So maybe next year.

I’m working on The Bounty Hunter Gets Her Wolf now, this is Sarandon Silver’s story. I’ll have to turn in the synopsis soon, so hoping to get a head start on it so that when I write the synopsis, it will work for this book. 74,000 words to go!

My one neighbor works on his garden all the time, so I have to keep up with the Jones’s. My neighbor across the street makes a concerted effort too. I keep adding perennial flowers, hoping they’ll expand and take over, but last year I had just moved in, so it’s a work in progress.

Then yesterday, my other next-door neighbor was planting flowers (they’re new, and the other before them didn’t plant flowers). Oh no! Now I have to redouble my efforts. lol I have two Jones’s to keep up with. And you know what? That’s nice. Pretty landscapes.

sky pencil holly tanner checking out manure 900 005

I planted more of the sky pencil holly yesterday when it was cooler in the morning. It’s getting so hot and muggy in the afternoons already. Here, Tanner is checking out the manure compost soil, wondering who was scent-marking his yard! I still have to plant 9 more holly to reach the end of the fence.

Off to work. Another beautifully foggy morning.

And is this a bad bug on a tiny skyrocket pencil holly flower? This is a macro shot. The flowers are so tiny that I thought one of them was pinkish, and it turned out to be a bug!

I’m off to write! Have a super, perfect day!
