Hawk on the Light Pole in Front of My House

I was bringing my granddaughter home from school and saw this huge bird swooping down, missing his prey and then he landed on the lamp post. I was so excited, pulled over before I went into my driveway to capture a couple of shots with my phone. I ran into the house to grab my camera to take some better shots, but he was gone.

They would sit on my fence occasionally, coming after the birds on my feeders, you know, kind of a smorgasbord situation, but I have so many tall shrubs and trees now, they’re more protected.

I’m off to write! It is only going to be about 84–which will be about 94 heat index wise, but that’s better than 112!

I’m still writing on the Highland book. Wrote 3000 words yesterday. 15K to go on word count. And I was working on a cover for a Halloween novella. I have a request for not only the wolves in this story, but a jaguar too. So I’ll work that in. So far, I’m developing a story idea. Looking into cover ideas for the Highland story also.

Nessie and the Baby Mermaid

Still playing with the baby mythological creatures artwork. And working on the Highland story.

We actually got 1/2″ of rain yesterday. It was WONDERFUL. And I had a delightful time with my granddaughter at lunch yesterday. I get to go to grandparents’ lunch with her on Friday next week, so looking forward to it. I’m glad she’s still loving that I come.

Little one will be here shortly, so need to get my chores done before he does, or it takes me twice as long. He always has 2nd breakfast here. lol

Baby Bigfoot

Having more fun with legends and mythology.

In the real world, I was working on the latest Highland story. It has a paranormal touch, but no shifters. I haven’t published one in 7 years, so it’s time. It’s up to 46K. I would have written longer last night, but I have to take care of little one this morning, so needed some sleep.

A Little Hippocampus from Greek Mythology

The seahorse is waiting for her mother to take her out to sea. I loved reading about different mythologies around the world as a kid. I still love the mythological creatures from those stories.

That is my fun whimsical morning. So I started working on One Enchanted Evening–the 2nd in the Fortune Telling Series. I already have written 25K on it, though I might remove some of one of the chapters. And I have, to my surprise, 44K on a medieval Highland story. It was 90K, but I removed a lot of it down to about 20K and have been working on it off and on for years. Soooo, I’m thinking of tying it in to a couple of my earlier books to make it part of a series, and finish it up. I’m going to see if any of the rest of the story that I cut might still work with the revised novel. I never get rid of what I cut out because you never know when the scenes might come in handy and work again with the story.

So I’m off to work.

Fuzzy Wuzzy Was a Cow…

He was all by his lonesome. I wanted to give him a hug. Doesn’t he look like he wants one?

I finished editing Highland Wolf and today I start to work on proofing it. I had thought I was doing that before but I wanted to make quite a few changes, so I want to make sure it’s as clean as it can be before it goes to my beta readers.

I’m off to work!

Sparrow on a Rocky Water Feature

I want one of these for my backyard birds! I shot this in Brenham, Texas. They had a recycling water feature that the birds drank from and some bathed from. It was so fun to watch.

I’m still working on edits on Highland Wolf. It’s done, but I’m now rereading it. And then after I finish that, I’ll proof it and send it to my beta readers. Yay!

Male Cardinal

Took the photo of the cardinal in Brenham, Texas. He caught a glimpse of my camera lens peeking out of the blind.

I have little one here so we’re doing kid exercises, tried Bluey and that was too boring for him, so we have a monster one we’re doing, lol and then I’ll work with him on some preschool pages. I managed to make word count on Highland Wolf, woohoo, so next I’ll be proofing it.

Silly Art

Aren’t they the cat’s pajamas?

My grandson will be here in a few minutes. We desperately need to go to the grocery store. I need potatoes. I think that’s the Irish in me that when I’m out of potatoes, I panic. I thought of making chili. No hamburger. And the list goes on.

He loves to grocery shop with me, both kids do, so that’s our stay out of the heat cool thing to do. It already feels like 91 at 7 am.

I’m also trying to get him used to using a scooter to the mailbox. It’s at the end of the long block and halfway down the next, so a little bit of a walk. He walks sooooo slow. When I begin to walk my granddaughter home from school when the heat lets up, it’s about a mile and half walk round trip. He loves to walk. He walked 5 miles with us on hikes and a city tour, and another time on a trip to the zoo. But he just walks soooo slow. lol So I figured if I could get him used to the scooter, it wouldn’t take us half an hour to get home. Normally, it takes me 10 minutes if I’m walking fast. But with the grands, that’s another story.
