I’ve been working all morning on trimming back crepe myrtles. I don’t top them, but I trim off the lower branches to form a nice tree. The peeling bark on crepe myrtles make the trunks just as beautiful as the foliage and flowers. So one is blooming! It’s a red, but its flowers came out pink this year. lol
And I have two beautiful volunteers are realize are weeping crepe myrtles. I love them, but never bought any. I was trimming the base of them too so they would grow up a bit and other plants below them could still do well. I love weeping trees. They’re majestic and it adds something unique to the garden.
Well, little one is here, so we walked and will do the splash pad later this afternoon. It’s going to be another scorcher today. The mermaid has the right idea, stay in the water and stay cool!
I couldn’t sleep. It’s been one of those restless nights. Supposedly I have done everything right to be conducive to a good sleep–ha!, but still not working. Sometimes they say to get up for a little bit and then go back to bed. That’s what I’m doing. Did my Wordle, doing my blog, then I’m returning to bed.
The shark picture is mine. The mermaid and mermen from DAZ3D, the porpoise and some of the fish from pixelsquid. The merfolk are courting and everyone has to get in on the act. Do you see Dory and Nemo in the picture? I had to add them for my granddaughter. First, I had Dory, and immediately she asked where Nemo was.
When I first started blogging years ago, I thought I had to do this so seriously, so perfectly, so properly. Then I became me. Then the blog wasn’t a chore. I can be silly, or serious, or me.
Now that my public service announcement is over with, I woke this morning thinking, ohmigod, what day is it? Tuesday? I didn’t get any writing done, hardly and little one will be here tomorrow. Wait, no, it can’t be. Whew, it’s Sunday.
Maybe Groundhound Day is messing with me.
No, the Fae. Yesterday in the middle of the day, do you know what I heard? The dishwasher running. All. On. Its. Own. I ran over, touched it, it was vibrating, and then…it stopped. The Fae are DEFINITELY trying to get my attention.
Alright, already. I’ll write another of your books. But after….
So yesterday, I wrote 2,000 words on Wolf in Need. It will be the new novella in the 10th Anniversary of Wolf Fever. Yay!!
Only managed about 500 on Highland Wolf. Hopefully I’ll do better on it today. I think that’s why I woke up thinking I hadn’t done enough on my 4 days “off,” that means my 4 days of writing.
I’ve been cutting back the dead growth on pentas and other plants and the irises had to be nipped back. Still have to do that with plants out front today. The pentas are supposed to be only annuals. But some are still flowering. So I’m going to see if they come back this year. If not, I’ll just pick up some new ones. They’re the only annuals I plant, usually. I mainly just plant perennials that will come back every year.
Okay, I’m off and editing on Highland Wolf. And have to think of where to go next on both that and Wolf in Need for today.

I took the fish picture at an aquarium in Omaha. It’s amazing what you can find in a fishy world when you’re really looking! I have mermaids and mermen in my World of Elves series and in my Magic of Inherian series.
I’ve been removing Christmas lights and putting away all the Christmas decorations, so running late on everything!

I’m writing and later, I’ll play some more of Hero U: Rogue to Redemption. I do much better as a paladin, a warrior, even a ranger. I’ve already stacked up 40 demerits. At 100, I get kicked out of school. Let me explain, though. You have to wear the school uniform, but I can’t afford the school uniform. Which means I have to sneak by the mean guy all the time, and sometimes I manage, and sometimes, I get caught. Besides the random: giving demerits for stuff I have no control over. Aww, come on. You’d think he hoped I flunked out. Well, he does. At least I passed my first two rogue tests. (I had to start over because I failed them both the first time around and I had 65 demerits. lol)
The game is like the old Hero’s Quest games, so it’s fun. But addictive. I’m only going to play for an hour. Only. An. Hour. I have a book to write.

Autographed books at 1960 Champions, West Houston, Barnes and Noble! My daughter had to go there to pick up some books for a special literacy program for her school district for stories from around the world. I loved reading fairy tales from around the world when I was a kid.
So after school, I picked her up and I found some of the early rhyming books because my grand-daughter loves to hear me sing them. (Not that I can carry a tune, mind you. Thankfully, she’s so little, she doesn’t know any better and just smiles away.) Whenever she is bored, I sing her Bah, Bah Black Sheep, Row, Row, Row Your Boat, and Mary Had a Little Lamb. Couldn’t remember anything else. lol So now I’m armed with a big book of rhymes.
I’m still working on finishing Billionaire Wolf Christmas, just waiting on the last beta reader’s edits, and then approved All’s Fair in Love and Wolf cover, and working on My Highlander. But I see some beautiful clouds, so off to take a picture in the cold, cold weather.
