Reindeer and Raindrops, and Red Noses and Roses

Okay, so I’m not a poet and I know it.

What would you do if you stepped out onto your back porch and there’s a reindeer standing there? Grab some carrots, right?

One red wolf doesn’t know what she’s in for when she locates the reindeer ranch where the little one belongs, and a police detective, who is part owner, also a red wolf, comes to get it. But she’s got the evidence and benefits from the reindeer being at her shop, and so…yep, the questioning begins.

Crazy Weather!

Another long hair painting

What a crazy day. It always seems so topsy turvy when it’s really hot in the morning, and then the temps start going down. I went for a walk, thinking it was going to be 57 and it was 80 and 90% humidity. Hot, hot, hot. And muggy.

I get home, my sprinklers are going and it starts pouring out. lol And the temps are dropping. Yay!

Fun day! Different from heat and more heat always makes it a fun day.

So I managed 4,000 words yesterday on Cougar Halloween Trouble and found a photo of a cougar couple I want to use for the cover. Today, I will get my minimum of 2,000. I need to run errands today.

I’m cutting down a rosebush that’s too close to the patio. So that was a major exercise in thorn-stabbed fingers. I need heavier duty gloves. Then Tanner managed to get one of the branches of thorns stuck in his fur while I was cutting them up and I had to cut the branch out of his fur. That’s the problem with long-furred dogs! He was good though when I told him to stay so I could run and get the clippers. I had managed to pull some of it out of his fur, but he has very thick fur, and the last part I had to cut–not his fur, the branch.

That was my excitement for yesterday! This morning, I’m boiling fire ants that are getting into the house.

Redid the Mermaid in Blue

I’m working on my first required long hair girl, but I did this one because she was so much fun. I need 5 extras for practice to move forward, beyond the others I am required to do. I have 4 long haired women I need to do and I’m working on 2 of them. And then we have a background we need to paint to incorporate into the photo painting, after I do all the long haired ladies.

But, I also am working on Cougar Halloween Trouble, got 3,000 words yesterday, and I couldn’t sleep in the middle of the night and had an idea for the story. Yes! I hate it when I can’t sleep, but when I can come up with a story idea, that makes it better.

All right, so tomorrow it’s going to be really cool, temperature wise! That will be fun.

Mermaid or Wood Nymph?

My daughter asked me to go with her to shop this morning, so we were running errands early before everyone hits the road and fills up the stores. Little one needed warmer clothes for the cool down. Kids grow out of things so fast from season to season. I had to get milk to replace my expired milk. And I had to get some potatoes. I try to not going anywhere for at least two weeks, but when I run out of potatoes, that’s a crisis.

My daughter was telling me her woes about her garbage can, and then she told me one about one of her co-worker’s woes. They will have to go in a story, just too funny.

Well, I need to get to work writing. So have a super fun day!

Time to Walk!

64 this morning so I was out walking at 5.

I was working on long hair, still need to make some changes on a woman with short hair. But I was working on a mermaid kind of picture, which is much more fun. And I finished a little girl’s picture with long hair too. Managed to get 3300 on Cougar Halloween Trouble. Hope to get 3,000 more today. I’m at 9000 words. Minimum 20K, probably about 26K when it’s done.

I moved a pine tree yesterday. It was about 2 feet tall, not sure it will make it. They have really long tap roots and if you don’t put it in the ground right, that can be the end of it. I kept thinking maybe I’d leave it where it was, but it was in front of a hibiscus tree and that meant I’d have to move it. I have a smaller pine tree to move too, not sure where to yet. They just sprout up all over the place.

Cooler in the Morning, Yay!

Created with Oscraps–sometimes it’s easier to just throw together a picture like this, than paint one!

We don’t get the bitter cold winters or the fall colors, but a little relief from the heat in the mornings is welcome!!

I only wrote 200 words yesterday on Cougar Halloween. I was Photoshop painting when I had a moment. It’s easier to paint and stop and paint and stop when I have to have tea parties and read books to little one, than to try and come up with story ideas when the cartoons are on and I have way too many interruptions.

So today is a writing day. Still painting daily though. I’m in the long hair painting session now, but just finished the last short hair one I needed to do for the class review and did a couple of practice ones also. These are the extra ones I did.

I’m off to walk, then feed the ravenous dogs, then write! And working on the first long haired woman for review, and a long haired little girl for practice.

Happy Fall!

Little one is coming earlier in the morning and my computer hung up, so finally getting this post up.

I think the raining is subsiding. I haven’t checked the weather. We’re okay, Houston areas are flooded. It’s a mess.

It is cooler, and so nice out though. Welcome relief from the heat.

I’ve got 5500 words on Cougar Halloween Trouble…no writing today until little one is headed home!

Time Sure Flies

So the rising cases of COVID-19…well, are rising. We figured a couple of weeks after Labor Day they would go up. The problem is that we have never gotten this under control. And so many are like done with it–done with the social distancing, wearing masks, now eating out, socializing, throwing parties. With nearly 200,000 deaths, when is this… acceptable? Non-existent? Just another case of the flu?

Tell that to those who are suffering from the effects long-term, or to those who have lost family members to it.

Okay, off my soapbox. I swear I’m not going to read the darn news. What I don’t know won’t kill me. Right?

We’re having rain and more rain, love it as long as we don’t have flooding from Tropical Storm Beta. But it’s cooled it down and I just love it.

I’m working on Cougar Halloween Trouble, and had disappointing news that Wolff Bros 2 won’t be coming out until January of 2022 now. But the good news is that I can write some more indie books to fill the void for next year. Right now, I’m working on cougar Halloween and then plan to write a full length cougar novel and a jaguar novella. I’ll have the Halloween novella done soon. The novel will probably be out in December. Jaguar? Maybe I’ll write that one right after Halloween cougar. I have started it, and I have a cover.

Tropical Storm Beta

I’m hoping to turn in Tangling with the Wolf today. I finished writing it yesterday, and once I finish beta reader edits, it’ll be ready to go.

Tornado Looking Clouds

We’re under tropical storm warnings, had a light rain all day yesterday, ended up with 2″ of rain. And I got a ton of weeding done. Yay!

It’s so dark this morning, it’s like the sun never rose. It’s perfectly moody. It would be a great time to write the Cougar Halloween Trouble novella. We’re supposed to get more rain through Tuesday. My Weather Channel is doing weird things though. Instead of giving an hourly report from the hour it is now, it’s showing at 1 pm, 4 hours from now. Must be all the spooky stuff going on with the weather.

Little one is here and is watching Halloween stories, so I’m feeling in a spooky mood.

I need to do the edits from my other beta reader before I can send it in and then work on Cougar. I was looking at some photos of couples I could use. Looks like it’s going to be a pirate Halloween theme.

Hope you all are having a good day and hope the areas that have been hit so badly with all the other storms are going to be all right. We’ve been missing most of it.
