Storms Make for Great Vampire Days…and Nights

We had stormy-looking weather, barely any chance of rain, and it poured. Yay! The sunset was spectacular! It truly looked like a vampire day…and night!

One of the covers I had to redo for my vampire series, was The Siren’s Lure. I loved the first one I had, but it was a stock photo that I found was popping up all over other authors’ books, so I had to create my own.

I had to put aside Silver Town Wolf Christmas for a day because I had to work on final edits for You Had Me at Jaguar. They’re due Friday, and I have to take care of baby on Wed and Fri, so today I’ll finish it up and turn it in. I have 3 more chapters and a prologue to go. And then I’ll be adding the edits in that I’ve done on the paper copy of Silver Town Wolf Christmas.

I can’t remember why I started writing vampire novellas, but I did, and so this is one of them!

Siren's Lure new cover1 with font 1000

The Siren’s Lure, a novella

A vampire wishes upon a falling star and ends up with more than he bargained for. When he attempts to rescue a woman in distress, he soon learns she’s not quite human and not a huntress–or at least like any he’s ever known. That’s when the seduction begins–but who is seducing whom?

Tristina isn’t a huntress in the normal sense. Before meeting the vampire who would rescue her from danger, she never thought anyone could love her for herself. Now, just maybe she’s found the right man for her.

Sardis wants nothing more than a vacation from his ponderous role as prince of the New York vampire clans, but ends up having anything but a peaceful time while staying at a beach resort when he meets the most enticing siren. Trouble doesn’t even begin to describe the new world he finds himself in as he tries to seduce her, and he falls under her siren’s spell instead.

But last time they looked ominous and dissipated into a hot, sunny day. We ended up walking the baby even. Still, I need to walk to the mailbox, plant a plant, and then get to work on the story, secure from the storms, if they truly come.

Have a great one!

You Know You Need Rain When…

Everywhere you go–the grocery store, the post office, the bank–everyone’s talking about it. The woman behind me in line at the grocery store said she’d just texted her husband: It’s going to rain!

Yep. It wasn’t supposed to until Sat night, so I looked at the forecast and it changed it’s mind and said this morning at 4 am. Well, it rained at 7 am. And you know what? I don’t care! Just as long as we get it. But no flooding. Thank you very much. We have heavy thunderstorms starting in 15 mins, and it was nice out, cool even, so I was out pulling grass in the light rain. Yes!

We’re supposed to have rain for around ten days. Yay! But please don’t flood.

airliner storm clouds 016 name (800x533)Do you see the airliner next to that cloud? That shows just how big that cloud is.

storm clouds 023 anvil white and gold (800x533)This is an anvil cloud. I kept trying to get around to get a better angle of the clouds, but the houses were in the way. I considered going around to take a picture around the block, lightning was flashing and it can strike from 10 miles away, so I thought better of it.

storm clouds 009 beautiful (800x533)So the houses just needed to be moved. But on the other hand, I think it’s kind of interesting. Like the tip of the iceberg. Not knowing what lays beyond. The mystery. And as you can see, the system started out at the last picture shown, and then ended up in the massive one way above the homes.

Today, it’s just gray. But that’s okay. Because rain is coming! And I’m 2,000 ahead on word count again! And I have 2 bears orders to get out. And more critiques to do. And…I need to get to work!

Have a wonderful day! It’s cooler here!!! Woohoo!

Wildlife Walk with the Puppies

Walking trail

Walking trail

My son says this is around a 15 mile walking trail. It’s so neat to see things like this in other places–we walked nearly 3 miles, the puppies and my son’s dog pulling us, and then nearer the end, Tanner sat on his butt as if to say, “Enough!”

But they managed to make it the whole way before it got dark and we made it safely to the car before the zombies came out. Maybe I should have said vampires. They tend to come out at night. But it was so quiet out there, and except for a runner and a few bikers, it seemed more like a zombie’s world.

We had a nice breeze, and the sun was setting, so cooler, but it had been over 90 degrees. Really an enjoyable way to end the day. 🙂 <3

The lower layer of clouds had all turned pink, but as you can see, we still have a lot of massive storm clouds in the area.

We have heavy thunderstorms for the middle of the night and some tomorrow.

But I’m fine with it as long as the houses don’t get flooded. I know that it will eventually stop raining and we’ll be wishing we had some again!

Have a terrific Thursday!

Oh, and here is Max–I told him not to go outside while I was taking a video of the rain. Just like a little kid.

Rain, Rain, Come Again…

storms (800x533)

I love the smell of rain as it “oxygenates” the air. It greens up the poor plants that have been suffering in the heat. It revives them. And it revives me. The storms, the thunder, the lightning… the rain.

I wanted to curl up and write on one of my vampire books, but my taskmaster said no. I had to stick to A Highland Wolf Christmas. But there it’s snowing in the Highlands. I wanted to write about dark and stormy weather and… vampires.

So the rain is gone now…

And I’ve just offered The Highlander, the medieval Highland romance on Kobo for preorders. The book will come out on Oct 21. http://store.kobobooks.com/en-US/ebook/the-highlander-5

Highlander11 (539x800)

So next time it rains, I’m going to pull out that vampire mss and get to work. 🙂

Have a super great Monday!

Do You Ever Just… Look Around You?

Dark skys bare trees silhouetted (640x427) (2)

I thought this was an interesting view of the storm clouds highlighting the bare branches of winter.

I was reading tips on photography and one of the things that was said was to take unusual views of an object, like instead of taking a picture looking down at a flower, take one from the side. Or from beneath it. I thought that was neat. For flowers, add some water droplets for interest. Maybe don’t take a picture of the whole object, but a special part of it.  I noticed on model photos that I want to use for my book covers, a lot of them have parts of the people cut off. It’s kind of odd. But maybe it’s more dramatic that way in some instances. Not all. I have some lovely pictures of the whole model for some of my covers.

And then if I want to cut off heads, or other body parts, I can. 🙂

Zoo with coyotes barking 074 (427x640)I cut off a lot of bird parts here. *sigh* But I did catch 7 whole flamingos and the reflection of 4 of them in the water. 🙂

Zoo with coyotes barking 031 (427x640)Okay, so the birds would NOT cooperate. It’s not the photographers fault!

Zoo with coyotes barking 025 (640x427)

Hey, it is a cool shot of flamingo reflections right? So sometimes head shots just aren’t important!

Off to write! Have a wonderful TGIF!!!

Texas Storms and Sunset Magic

Hot Sept Storm Clouds Central Texas original (small)

It’s hot, hot, hot, and all sun, so I was surprised to see the storm clouds when I went out to get the mail!

And the beautiful sunset! I, of course, had to run back in and get my camera.  Top picture is the original before doing anything to it. 🙂

Then I had to play with the pictures. 🙂

And here’s what I came up with!

Hot Sept Storm Clouds Central Texas original vivacious

From hot to cool, don’t you think??? Here’s another I didn’t change because the dumb wires were in the way, but I loved how dramatic the picture looked with the sun’s rays against the clouds.

Hot Sept Storm Clouds Central Texas 005 (800x698)

Okay, and that’s enough sunsets and cloud gazing, wishing those storms were going to dump rain on us and cool things down!!

Have a super great day! Back to writing!
