I was working on Red Wolf still since Highland Wolf (Wolf Wore Plaid) edits weren’t due back until Jun 30 and I’m close to getting word count on Red Wolf. I was trying to reach it and then go to work on Highland Wolf. Then I was asked if I was getting it done SOON because it needs to go on the back cover, etc. Ack.

So yesterday I switched gears and did all the edits and am now working on proofing it and am on ch 9. I have 18 chapters to go and little one will be here shortly. Sooooooo, I will try to get a chapter done before she gets here and after she leaves, some more done!

At least this will be done by tomorrow and I can get back to work on Red Wolf! I took my walk first thing because little one doesn’t like to take walks often and I needed to get it in. She’s having too much fun at Grandma’s house to leave the house.

Have a fun day!

Macro Shots in the Garden

Coneflower, yellow esperanza, coleus, lavender lantana, pink zinnia

I haven’t played with macro shots in a while, so thought it would be fun to give it a try!

I’m only 3,000 away from word count goal on SEAL Wolf Surrender. Annoyed with myself that I couldn’t just at least write the last 3,000, just for the minimum goal, but the story isn’t coming to me. Baby is here soon, so then the story REALLY won’t be coming to me. lol

I need to make the bad guys’ presence known early on. One is from the very beginning, so that’s good. I’ve been watching Cold Case Files, interested in seeing procedures on criminal cases, because I write romantic suspense, and the guys they’re after are criminals.

My villains are often shifters, so they take care of their own. Sending a shifter to jail when the world doesn’t know about them, won’t work. It’s fun creating a fantasy world within the real world (cougar shifters, wolf shifters, jaguar shifters, bear shifters, snow leopard shifters), though sometimes it’s just easier creating a whole fantasy world, where the characters visit the real world (as in my fae series).

All right, off to play with baby! Have a wonderful TGIF!

The Big Picture: It’s in the Details

I’m mulling over the next plot for a book. I finished Her Jaguar Protector, Howard’s story!!!! So SEAL Wolf Brock Greystoke is the twin brother of SEAL Wolf Vaughn Greystoke in SEAL Wolf Undercover. They’re cousins of Devlyn in Heart of the Wolf. Brock is a PI and it’s his story. Do I connect him with Devlyn and Bella’s pack? Move on and set it somewhere completely different? Who is the heroine? Her occupation? Their objectives? How do they meet?

I read an interesting article on combining titles from other books that can give you an idea of a title for your book. The problem is that my publisher often changes the title. I have one that fits the book–Her Jaguar Protector for the one I just finished. That’s his mission–to be her backup. And it’s a jaguar shifter story.  So I came up with SEAL Wolf Surrender for the next story. I always do better if I have a title, then work off that.

In writing, photography, and life, we examine things–look closer, stand back and observe from a distance, see the bigger picture.

I try to put myself in my characters’ shoes. You have to know what they’re thinking, how they’re feeling to be able to share with readers. In real life, how many times have you thought your friend or family member knows just what you’re thinking? Everyone should know that. You say something and they should know just what you mean. Because…well, you do! 🙂 <3

My beta reader informed me she got lost in a scene. Hmm, person asks a question, no follow through until later. So need to switch things around. Does this happen in real life? Absolutely. My daughter asks me something, and I’m thinking about something else we talked about and I mention something more and totally lose her. But in writing, we need to be clear. 🙂

With photography, what are we focusing on? What are we trying to share? What do we want viewers, readers, friends to take away from what we’ve shared?

In the pictures, I’m fascinated with the intricacies, the beauty and the detail of the chives flower. With the sunrise, the soft, silky light and dark and colors of the clouds in the sky, a huge backdrop against the ancient trees towering above. This is old forest, the trees having watched the wildlife living among them since the beginning when they were only sprouts in the forest floor. See, it’s not just a picture of a sunrise. It’s all about life and change and sameness.

Okay, now it’s time to get more rocks for the garden to border the new flowerbeds I put in. Am I making more work for myself? Probably. Then I’m back to mulling. One writer said to pull a noun out of a book. Just any noun, and write about it. Hmm, could writing a novel be that easy? Need to find me a noun.

Have a super day looking at the big picture and the smaller details of life.

More Macro: Water Droplets

Macro shots showing water drops and me taking a picture in them, a red rose and rosebuds, chives flowers. And baby sleeping on my lap while I was typing away on the story! I was determined to finish Howard’s story.

So I finished the book!!! Did I take a moment to celebrate? Nope. I have promotional blogs I have to do for All’s Fair in Love and Wolf! It’s coming May 1st. So I did all but one. I worked on it, but need to finish it up today. I have to see the tax accountant this morning, I have a jury duty summons for the first week in April and I need to get started on the next book. This is Brock’s SEAL wolf story, twin brother to Vaughn from SEAL Wolf Undercover.

All’s Fair in Love and Wolf

I also received a 4 star review from RT Magazine (they only give 4.5 as a max), so I’m elated for All’s Fair in Love and Wolf! And top pick from Night Owl Romance.

All’s Fair in Love and Wolf by Terry Spear

RT Book Reviews has given All’s Fair in Love and Wolf a fantastic four star review! They only give a max of 4.5, so this is great!

“In the new installment of the Silver Town Wolf series, a suspected would-be felon meets a bounty hunter she-wolf with an attitude. All’s Fair In Love and Wolf is a sweet tale of two individuals on the opposite sides of the law — at least that’s how it seems when they first met. As the story progresses, the characters show real depth and chemistry, making it a great read.” RT Book Reviews

Night Owl Romance– Debra Taylor, Reviewer’s Top Pick!
All’s Fair in Love and Wolf
“This story had a good mystery! It was unexpected and came as a complete surprise. Terry Spear is an amazing storyteller which was clearly illustrated by the true depth of emotion that was woven into the story. The chemistry between Sarandon and Jenna was scorching from the beginning but they were concerned that a mating might pull them in different directions. It seemed to me like the author did a great job of introducing a potential new series arc with some new characters. I’m all in for more books in this still as exciting as ever paranormal romance series.
As always, Terry Spear did a fabulous job on this book. I can’t wait for the next Heart of the Wolf book.

The Silver Town wolf pack has your back

Wolf shifter Sarandon Silver’s in trouble with the law, and bounty hunter she-wolf Jenna St. James is determined to bring him in for trial.

Lucky for Sarandon, the entire Silver Town pack is ready to fight for his innocence. But until the case is solved, Jenna’s sticking to Sarandon like glue…

The World of Macro

No more spring break, which means baby’s on her way here and I’m nearly done with my book! I would be today if I wasn’t taking care of baby. Hopefully, I can get something done on it though tonight and finish up in the morning.

So here is the world of macro: miniature roses that are small and ready to burst into flower, which are small. I’ve never had any luck with them wherever I’ve lived until I moved here. Even so, they struggled here the first year. And the second. But this is the third year, and they’re finally getting a little size. They will never get really big since they’re miniatures, but I love them.  A toadstool hiding beneath leaves. And the blossoms on a beefsteak tomato plant. I don’t think they were pollinated yet. Bees have been flying about so hopefully the tomato plants will give me abundant tomatoes like two years ago. I didn’t grow them last year, too busy. And I still need to put out the baby watermelon seeds! I had placed them around a tree, which had since died and so I need to figure out where to put these! I love a small yard, but it offers other challenges.

Off to get ready for the baby!

Remember to take a close look at all that surrounds us! It’s a small small small world after all. Enjoy it!

Buttercup–Different Points of View

Like in photography, with writing, we can show different perspectives. It’s fun to move around when trying to take pictures of a subject and see how that changes the view.

In writing, since I write in third person, I switch back and forth to show off the two main characters’ points of view. Who has the most to lose or gain in the scene? That’s whose point of view it will be in. It helps when I get stuck sometimes, to change point of view. Sometimes, I’ll share a secondary character’s point of view to show how others are thinking of the main characters. This can give even more depth to the main characters. But too many points of view can be confusing.

Once, I read a story where a person has a whole chapter in his viewpoint, but  was never mentioned any other time in the book. It was like the author had just stuck him in there, and forgotten about him. Another started off with the character running for her life and so you think, she’s going to survive since it’s her story, right? Nope! Author killed her off. It was maybe 3/4ths through the book that I finally realized the killer was the heroine’s father. By then did I care? No. It was like this random scene to get the adrenaline running, and then, wait, we have to start over with a new character? And it didn’t seem like that prologue was in any way connected with the book for chapter after chapter. So if we offer someone else’s point of view, he should be important to the rest of the story. 🙂

In the pictures I took of the buttercup, I noticed the purple flowers in the background and I wanted to capture the bokeh. On one, I looked down from above and focused on the top flower. So each flower became the main focus, and then some parts of the one flower became the main focus. The rest, the bokeh, showcases the main character.

Okay, I’m off to do more edits. Still need to figure out the ending. I’ve written the epilogue already. 🙂 Just need the final scene(s) to wrap everything else up.

Have a lovely day!!!

Macro Shots and Being Sick

Macro shots of a rosebud, waiting to see if it will warm up, and another that is trying to weather out the cold, and of ice in the fountain.

I finally gave in and went to see the doctor. Had to get a shot, on antibiotics, steroids (for good muscles), and cough pearls. Now, antibiotics can make me nauseous. So it’s a necessary evil, but, I’m not looking forward to this. They said not the flu, no sinus infection (tell that to my sinuses), but my lungs are raspy. Yes, I could hear that. Did I feel short of breath?

Well, given that if I did anything, or didn’t do anything, I was coughing my lungs out, and my sinuses are so congested that I can’t breathe and I’m not doing much of anything…no. If I tried to walk a mile, maybe, but I would have figured that’s because I can’t breathe and I keep coughing.

But I really went in to make sure I didn’t have a sinus infection.

Now, the steroids and antibiotics can make you throw up. The cough pearls can make you lose your mind (says that in side effects, not making this stuff up) and make you sleepy. The steroids will keep you awake. I’m only taking a cough pearl at night when I’m trying to sleep so I won’t cough all night, though I couldn’t stop coughing last night anyway. And there’s a reason for that. I need to get rid of all this congestion. So if I lose my mind in the middle of the night, I’ll hopefully have it back by the time I wake up. I won’t miss it until then.

As to the steroids (only 5 days of them, so one day down), I need to stay awake all day anyway, so I can work. The throwing up part doesn’t work for me though. Sweating? Restlessness? I can deal with it.

But hopefully, I’ll begin to see an improvement soon and be back to my normal self!

Hope everyone stays well!!! And has a great day!

Flowers in Macro

Milkweed and a red daylily.

Writing and taking pictures for me is a daily have to. I feel dissatisfied if I haven’t done some of both. 🙂

Here I was trying for some fun angles with macro.

But now it’s time to write!!! It’s sooooo hot out. Took out garbage at 5 am and it was already horrible. *sigh* And we have more weeks of it too. But I see where it will dip down to 89 one day, MAYBE. 97, 98 otherwise.

And I’m trying to write about snow at Christmastime!

Have a wonderful day!

Macro Flowers

I was so busy trying to capture the roses without the photo blurring, I have a macro lens that constantly refocuses and so it’s hard to get a shot of what I want, but do you see the critter I captured in the one shot of the peach roses? I didn’t even see him until I was resizing photos. The other is a coneflower, I didn’t think was going to come back this year, and orange marigold, and a red rose covered in water drops.

Back to Falcon Fae! I added a prologue because I needed to show that a magic user had magic to use. Seems simple, right? That’s like a wolf shifter who shifts. I read a short story about a great white warrior wolf, except she never shifted, never showed any warrior-ing… and so I wondered, not for long, what she did to make her so super white warrior wolf like. I will never know.

Have a great one!

Seeds to Make New Babies…

Seeds from the Blanket Flower and the milkweed (that feeds Monarch butterflies and other butterflies)

And their flowers.

And this is like birthing a baby.

What color are the flowers of this unknown crepe myrtle? White? Light Pink? It’s like Christmas, and I can’t wait to see what’s inside the package. The other I bought in the store and it’s a Purple Magic crepe myrtle. 🙂 <3

I’m not big into white flowers, but if it helps to block my view of my neighbor’s two-story windows behind me, it’s a good thing. The Purple Magic doesn’t get that tall–6-10′. Whereas other varieties will get from 15-20′. The way this other is growing so fast, I think it’s a taller variety.

Most of these were macro shots, except the one of the blanket flower. Every time I went outside to pull weeds, I’d see the blanket flower fluffy seed ball and wanted to take pictures. And then I saw the milkweed seeds and switched to the macro lens. Birds will use the fluff from the milkweed seed for nests, and humans have used the fluff to fill life jackets. Cool, eh? For me, they make fascinating pictures.

Oh, and speaking of babies, Happy Father’s Day for all those great daddies out there!

Have a great and notable day. 🙂
