My First Short Hair Photoshop Oil Painting

A tiny Purple Magic sapling flowering–I’ve never seen one this small flower!

Okay, I’m off to work. I managed 2500 words yesterday, 5500 to go. I did a ton of yard work, even though it was still way too hot. Today, it’s supposed to be 68 this morning, yay! So once it’s light, I’ll begin to work.

But I need to wrap this baby up–Tangling with the Wolf, here I come!

Have a great day!

Gardening–the Good and the Bad…

Top left corner is Virginia Creeper and though it can be very pretty, they say not to plant it next to fences, houses, and ornamental trees! It’s very aggressive. I already have problems with wild blackberries, grape, and not sure what the other really thorny vine is that I have to keep cutting out. So out comes the Virginia Creeper. Next is a good plant. I wasn’t sure, but it’s watermelon! And yes, I planted the seeds. Just all over. So forgot. lol

The next could be the world’s biggest weed. I have no idea. I’ve never seen it before. Someone said it could be wild violet, but it has no flowers. And the last by the stones is a lovely crepe myrtle that came out of nowhere. I love crepe myrtles! I have no idea what color of flower it will be, so it will be a fun surprise.

I’m off to ship bears this morning. Finished the next St. Patrick Bear and got the first Santa Bear ready to ship.

I’m still working on edits to SEAL and working on Claiming the White Bear while waiting on beta reads.

Several more bears to make! Have a fun day!!!

I’ve got to get back to work!

Volunteers in the Garden

I was surprised to see the yellow “Sunshine” ligustrum pop up in a new spot. I didn’t think it would volunteer like that. Though I’ve never had one before, so what do I know? I planted it 3 years ago. In the one picture, you can see the yellow leafed shrub near the end of the flowerbed. That’s the mother plant. These are brand new shoots a distance from the original shrub. I never expected that! I kept thinking I needed something taller in the background on some of that flowerbed, and voila, there’s the solution. I thought the shadows and light were cool too.

In these photos, the ivy is native, just popped up. The woodland fern was the same way, part of the original forest. I have wild grape I keep cutting out as it will take over. And in among the coneflowers and marigolds, a crepe myrtle made it’s appearance. that’s one of those areas that everything is growing. The pine tree, rosebush, and now a youpon holly (also a volunteer) and then on the other side of the tree, bare naked soil. I think something has been digging there because I did have mulch there. In the pot with the pine tree sapling I’m growing for my daughter, I also started a crepe myrtle branch and it’s taking hold!

Sometimes volunteers can be a nuisance. Sometimes they make fun giveaways, or planted in the right place, free plants! Usually, they do really well–life will find a way.

Only 15,000 words left to write on SEAL Wolf Surrender!

Off to take care of baby! Have a great Friday!!!

Mystery Crepe Myrtle Revealed!

It’s watermelon, and they’re down by the River Otter Pond. A stork must have brought me the baby crepe myrtle.  I love watermelon, it’s so vivacious.  And with the Purple Magic Crepe Myrtles, a pretty color combination. And they’re tall, so a nice shield from looking at my backyard neighbor. My daughter is fortunate. All her backyard neighbors have one-story houses.

Two of the crepe myrtle pictures are of the ones out front. Two lighter ones are of the one out back. Really different color of purple, but all pretty.  And I caught the peach roses in a bundle. I hadn’t seen them in a bouquet like that before.

Okay, have to write 9 blogs for SEAL Undercover release (August)–5 done yesterday, edits on Night of the Wolf (the novella I wrote for the 10th anniversary of Heart of the Wolf release, January), Cougar Undercover edits, and yes, I’ve had to put Falcon Fae aside for a moment.

But the other books are due the first week in July and the blogs too. We’re getting rain, light, a little wind last night, but it’s very calm. Hopefully, that’s all we’ll get and nothing major coming up from the tropical storm.

Have a great day!! I’ve got to get to working!!!

Seeds to Make New Babies…

Seeds from the Blanket Flower and the milkweed (that feeds Monarch butterflies and other butterflies)

And their flowers.

And this is like birthing a baby.

What color are the flowers of this unknown crepe myrtle? White? Light Pink? It’s like Christmas, and I can’t wait to see what’s inside the package. The other I bought in the store and it’s a Purple Magic crepe myrtle. 🙂 <3

I’m not big into white flowers, but if it helps to block my view of my neighbor’s two-story windows behind me, it’s a good thing. The Purple Magic doesn’t get that tall–6-10′. Whereas other varieties will get from 15-20′. The way this other is growing so fast, I think it’s a taller variety.

Most of these were macro shots, except the one of the blanket flower. Every time I went outside to pull weeds, I’d see the blanket flower fluffy seed ball and wanted to take pictures. And then I saw the milkweed seeds and switched to the macro lens. Birds will use the fluff from the milkweed seed for nests, and humans have used the fluff to fill life jackets. Cool, eh? For me, they make fascinating pictures.

Oh, and speaking of babies, Happy Father’s Day for all those great daddies out there!

Have a great and notable day. 🙂

Be Yourself

Do you ever feel that everybody does it better than you? Writing, photography, just living?

Compare yourself to no one. Be yourself. That’s the only comparison to make. Did I do better today? Am I beautiful even if I don’t look anything like my brothers and sisters?

I took this flower pot home because the white one was so different from the others in the same pot. And she is well loved.

Gold Pears, Gold Leaves and Other Fall Colors

Isn’t nature beautiful? It puts on a stunning display for us even if we ignore what’s going on around us because we’re just too busy to notice. I just happened to catch sight of one of my pear trees with a cascade of bright yellow leaves.

golden pears and golden leaves (640x427)

And red berries just showed up on some of my plants to provide birds with something to eat for the winter, but it always reminds me of Christmas cards and green leaves and red berries.

Okay, I’m back to working on The Viking’s Highland Lass! Enjoy your day!!!

I’m Not Really Behind…

I was thinking I was behind on posting my blog today. But in truth, I was cleaning out kitchen cabinets and getting boxes of stuff ready to give away. So that makes me not behind. Because I’m ahead in cleaning. Don’t you see? And I was getting stuff ready to ship.

Love Fog

Love Fog

Yesterday, we had fog. Why is that cool? Besides making an interesting picture in depth perception, it’s just cool, for real. I mean, it’s been so hot, when it cools down, fog happens! And that makes it the coolest. The puppies got me up at 2:30 that morning, and it was still hot. At 7 am, it was much cooler. And that’s when the fog rolled in. I loved it. This morning? Hot.

Scissor-tailed Flycatcher

Scissor-tailed Flycatcher

And I caught a scissor-tailed flycatcher watching me. I had actually taken the camera out front to take more pictures of the cool fog and snapped a few of him.

And, and, and, then I found this!

White Crepe Myrtle

White Crepe Myrtle

A volunteer underneath my cypress tree. What’s so unusual about it? I have red, watermelon, and pink crepe myrtles. NO WHITE crepe myrtles. Until now. Isn’t that fascinating?

Life is truly wondrous.

Back to my regularly scheduled writing. But I’m in a real cleaning out mood. What should I tackle next?

Writing. 🙂

Have a super great Saturday!!!

Doesn’t that sound like a children’s story title? The Flower that Doesn’t Belong?

Like The Ugly Duckling?

Botanists would have a cool explanation for this. Me? I just think it’s the neatest thing ever. I have never seen this happen on any of the crepe myrtles. I’ve seen this happen on variegated privet that will suddenly sport no variegation on some branches and other such things. But this? Never.

I was actually taking a picture of the desert willow flowers in bloom, which surprised me too. They’re supposed to come out when we have a summer rain shower. No rain showers for the past two weeks, and been near 100 every day. So when I was taking the puppies out, I suddenly noticed flowers! And had to capture them. It’s really, really, really windy out, so I had to hold the branch, hoping that I could get a good shot with my phone, though the flower was still shaking, but I thought it turned out well.

And then I saw the crepe myrtle where it wasn’t supposed to be. I have pink, red, hot pink (watermelon), but this caught my eye.

Isn’t that the coolest???

I’m not very good at holding a phone in one hand and taking a picture when holding the branch in the other in high winds, but I thought it turned out well, despite the handicap. What do you think? And best of all, his brother flowers are just as happy that he is there with him, sharing the same branch.

And another great review for SEAL Wolf Hunting!!!

“True love triumphs over all!”

Fresh Fiction ReviewSEAL WOLF HUNTING is a fun, sweet, and character-driven romance. The passion between Lori and Paul gets hotter and intensifies as their feelings grow and become stronger. One of the strengths of this book, as well as this series, is the tight-knit relationships between family and friends. I love how the members of Lori and Paul’s pack support each other and watch out for each other. As always, I look forward to the next book by Terry Spear.  Reviewed by Miranda Owen

Fresh Fiction Review

SEAL WOLF HUNTING is a steamy page turner! Author Terry Spear has another winner with this one as she continues to bring us her bestseller Heart of the Wolf shifter series. The story if filled with down to earth characters, a lot of humor, laughter, sizzle and suspense, making a perfect storyline. Right from page one the reader is thrown into the plot and it continues to build from there. The dialogue is in turns hilarious and serious just what you expect in a couple that are being pushed to be together. Paul has to make a decision that he doesn’t even realize he has already made, just needs it drawn out of him. He is sexy, tough, smart and sensitive to those who belong to his pack and family. Lori is perfect for him; she is also sexy, tough, smart and sensitive. She wants to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but she won’t be walked on either, not by anyone … including Paul. I loved how she took up her role and was there for the pack when Paul had to leave, proving that they are a concise team that could work together for the better of their people. SEAL WOLF HUNTING is already on my TRA shelf and I can’t wait for more!Reviewed by Annetta Sweetko

Cougar’s Mate : Heart of the Cougar, Book 1

Cougar’s Mate: Instinct told her to run…

Shannon Rafferty learns that hanging out with the bad boys could be a dangerous business, but hooking up with a cop is even worse. Now she’s on the run, trying to avoid being murdered by his cougar shifter brothers and uncle. If that isn’t bad enough, a deputy sheriff hunts her down while she’s running as a cougar and trying to survive in the Colorado wilderness. He vows to protect her no matter what she’s done. With three dead boyfriends to her name, she’s sure she will be the death of Chase Buchanan before either of them can prevent it. No matter how much she knows she has to run again, he soon holds her heart hostage. But will that be enough to keep them both alive?

Chase Buchanan—as wilderness cabin resort owner, former US Army Special Forces, and part time deputy of the small town of Yuma, Colorado that boasts a love of cougars—is tasked to track down a cougar reported to be hunting human prey. Chase soon learns she’s a shifter, not a full-time cougar, and she’s on the run. When he takes her in, he vows to protect her. After losing his wife and baby to the human kind of predator years earlier, he’s not letting Shannon’s hunters kill her, too. But how is he going to hold onto the wild-cat woman, who is unpredictable at every turn, without losing his heart to her, and then losing her as well?

And I have student lessons stacking up again ( calculated it and if I don’t do any additional critiques, which I have already done, I’ll have a total of 204 critiques to do), and I need to make word count on A Silver Wolf Christmas. Getting 3,000 words done a day, and have been fortunate to keep making it. It’s easy to get stuck. Especially when you’re jumping from the snowy Christmas story with wolves to the jungles of Costa Rica and the jaguars. And I just submitted a proposal for 3 more books. So we shall see if my publisher wants any more! 🙂 <3

Titles will probably change, but: Jaguar Jingle Bells, A SEAL Wolf Diving for Trouble, and She-Wolf (another Silver wolf pack story) If they get picked out, they will be coming in 2016. I’m already “booked” for 2015 with releases in Feb: Jaguar Pride, April: SEAL Wolf for Sale, Oct: A Silver Wolf Christmas

And of course more Highland medievals and fae stories, and more. 🙂 <3

Oh, yes, and bears. Worked on 3 last night. Not finished, but getting closer….
