Water in the Garden

It’s so hot, seeing water in the garden helps to cool things down–visually. But also, the birds are panting so much, they need water too. The blanket flower is in a field of flowers. They’re so pretty and are doing great in this heat, humidity and no rain. Every day I look at the weather, it says we’re going to get rain a few days from now, but then it’s gone. No rain. *sigh*

It’s only around 90 today and for a few days, yay! A break from the 98+. Ever little bit helps. Cloud cover helps. But I see the sun. *sigh*

Okay, I’m off to write a little. Getting together with the kids at 9 and again at 6 pm, so need to get some writing done before and between!

Have a fun day and stay safe!

Green Heron and a Field of Wild Blanket Flowers

There’s nothing like having water in the garden as hot as it is right now, and the birds will probably love the little birdbath with the solar bubbler once they get used to it. They love the fountain. I love water!

So on my HOT, HOT, HOT walk yesterday, it was super muggy and 93 heat index at 7 am. So keeping my lens from fogging up was a struggle. lol

The green heron/blackbird, dove, was a green heron. The sun was shining so brightly off the water, I couldn’t make it out. From the distance I was, and the sun and the foggy camera, it was hard to tell. The green heron, like other herons, have a long neck, but they often keep them tucked close like this–at least when I see them.

Also, this is one of the pictures of the blanket flowers. Several weren’t any good because right after I cleaned my lens it would fog right back up. *sigh*

I spent the evening dancing and having grilled burgers with the kids last night. Well, my daughter and I dancerized, and my granddaughter did a little. We usually have two barking corgis getting underfoot and my granddaughter sometimes gets in the way, or grabs our legs for a hug and my daughter and I spend a lot of time laughing. That exercises our stomach muscles. lol

I did manage 2,000 on Wolff Bros (8,000), and 1,000 on Cougar (14,000).

Hope you are all having a safe and great weekend!

Flowers in Bloom

I finished the novella, but stalled on writing the promo blogs and have to figure out a plot for the next book. I really wanted to get the blogs done today so they’d be out of my way, but…..my brain is on hold.

Have a great day!!!

“The thrilling start to a wonderful werwolf series!”

Fresh Fiction Review

Heart of the Wolf

HEART OF THE WOLF is the first book of the series of the Heart of the Wolf

same name and I look forward to reading the rest. I was also pleasantly surprised to get a bonus novella about Bella’s twin sister Serena after finishing this newly reissued title. There was also a sneak peek of the different series based on the white wolves that Terry Spear is writing about also. I look forward to reading all of her Werewolf series in the future. They are definite must-reads on my list of series to complete. http://freshfiction.com/review.php?id=65658

SUMMARY

Danger, intrigue, and forbidden love in a wolf shifter world so compelling, you’ll swear it’s real life…

Bella, a female red werewolf, was adopted by a pack of gray wolves as a pup. Now grown up, the alpha of the pack tries to make her his mate against her will—Bella knows she has no choice but to run away.

She makes her way as a lone wolf until childhood friend, Devlyn, comes to bring her home. On their journey back, they get tangled in up in unimaginable danger and must apprehend a werewolf murderer while keeping their identity secret from humans. The chemistry between them sizzles like never before…but they both know if they mate, Devlyn will have to fight the pack’s wicked alpha…and it’s a fight to the death.

As a companion to Bella and Devlyn’s story, this edition includes an exclusive, brand new novella that brings the story of the lupus garou family full circle.

Baby’s on her way over. She has scarlet fever, but is on antibiotics. I hope she feels better today.

Here are some more pictures of flowers and such.

In the first picture of the Orange Rocket Barberry, it was more purple. That was it’s first year here. This spring its fuller and really pretty, more orange. With a small yard, I need smaller plants, so this one is 1 1/2 feet wide and 4 feet tall, according to the card that came with it, though I saw a listing on the plant site that said it can get to 2 feet wide and 5-6 feet tall. Which works fine also.

The blanket flower is next to a row of miniature roses. And the milkweed flowers are getting ready to bloom for the monarch butterflies!

The dogs are whining at the door, waiting for baby to arrive!

And I’m off to finish this and get ready for her. Have a lovely flower-filled day!

Have You Ever Noticed…

Have you ever noticed how perverse life can be? I was trying to open a bag of bark mulch, trying to rip the bag open, yet, they tear easily and spill their guts out all over the place where you don’t want them to?

Water droplets on Buttercup and Blanket Flower

Have you ever noticed how confusing life can be? I went to the grocery store to buy dental floss. There must have been 50 million varieties. I just stood there looking at them (I have to admit I haven’t bought any in years), but I just couldn’t believe it. All I needed was one–just the old-fashioned, normal variety.

The same thing happened when I was looking for a king size pillow. That’s all, just a KING SIZE pillow. Now they have body pillows???? They looked cool. I might have to get one!

Okay, have grandbaby and so finally rocked her to sleep on my lap. She has a routine. I have a wolf blanket she likes to lie on when she’s on my lap, and when she gets tired, she’ll start to curl up on it. BUT, I have to bounce her and “shhhhh” her and sometimes give her a bottle until she drifts off. And then???? She’s out…for a little bit. Which gives me a break to finally finish my blog.

In the pictures above, my sprinklers left water droplets on the flowers and though I try to take pictures when it’s early or later, or overcast, I captured these in the sun, which captures sunlight on the water drops too.  That could have been me this morning, minus the sun. I was out with the puppies when the sprinklers came on and I got soaked by the time I reached the patio. 🙂 <3

Off to do whatever I can when I can’t move from my spot or wake baby. But I’m enjoying her at this age, because one day she won’t want to do this and she won’t be napping, and she’ll be into even more stuff than she is now…. 🙂

Have a lovely day!!!

Blanket Flowers

A field of blanket flowers. Individual plants in the garden. And the seeds ready to make a field of blanket flowers. 🙂 <3

I missed doing my blog yesterday. Between internet trouble in the morning and then taking care of grandbaby, I never had time. I did spend a few hours trying to complete a 40 question interview though, which I did finish.

Hey, if you ask me which I like better, one thing or another, I have to give more of an explanation. I’m a writer. 🙂

Okay, off to work on Billionaire Wolf Christmas. Hope you all have a lovely day !

Seeds to Make New Babies…

Seeds from the Blanket Flower and the milkweed (that feeds Monarch butterflies and other butterflies)

And their flowers.

And this is like birthing a baby.

What color are the flowers of this unknown crepe myrtle? White? Light Pink? It’s like Christmas, and I can’t wait to see what’s inside the package. The other I bought in the store and it’s a Purple Magic crepe myrtle. 🙂 <3

I’m not big into white flowers, but if it helps to block my view of my neighbor’s two-story windows behind me, it’s a good thing. The Purple Magic doesn’t get that tall–6-10′. Whereas other varieties will get from 15-20′. The way this other is growing so fast, I think it’s a taller variety.

Most of these were macro shots, except the one of the blanket flower. Every time I went outside to pull weeds, I’d see the blanket flower fluffy seed ball and wanted to take pictures. And then I saw the milkweed seeds and switched to the macro lens. Birds will use the fluff from the milkweed seed for nests, and humans have used the fluff to fill life jackets. Cool, eh? For me, they make fascinating pictures.

Oh, and speaking of babies, Happy Father’s Day for all those great daddies out there!

Have a great and notable day. 🙂

Storms are on the way…

blanket flower, all stages 900 008

Here is the blanket flower in all its pretty stages. After planting and just a few days later, it’s covered in tons of buds. 🙂

Don’t you love it when a plant “performs”?  I plant so many plants that do and so many that struggle. The strugglers aren’t welcome in the garden again. I want EASY MAINTENANCE. I have too much other stuff to do. So plant the plants, water them when necessary, and let them do their own thing. AND enjoy.  🙂 Oh, and I have to remind myself that some of the plants that didn’t do anything last year, daylilies that didn’t bloom, marigolds that died, salvia that barely could hold on, have all come into their own. Only one of the coneflowers came back this year, but it’s lovely. The marigolds reseeded themselves, the salvia are just beautiful, full of flowers and the daylilies too.

During the week, I’ve been helping out with grandbaby, which puts me behind on writing. We started walking her from my daughter’s house to my house so I can take my puppies out after lunch, feed them, feed the baby, and walk back. But baby has been so fussy that I end up walking her a lot in the house too, just to get her settled. Yesterday, I managed over five miles. 🙂 Who would have thunk it?

But it put me behind on writing. More so than before. *sigh*

The good thing is, I WILL finish the book. It’s due July 1st, so it’s not that I’m late or anything. I just wanted to set my goals so that I’d have time to write other books too this year. Billionaire Wolf needs to be written too. And the other books are on my own schedule.

Okay, I’m off to try and plant the butterfly bushes before it storms. I think it’s light enough out now.

Have a happy low maintenance day!
