Green Heron and a Field of Wild Blanket Flowers

There’s nothing like having water in the garden as hot as it is right now, and the birds will probably love the little birdbath with the solar bubbler once they get used to it. They love the fountain. I love water!

So on my HOT, HOT, HOT walk yesterday, it was super muggy and 93 heat index at 7 am. So keeping my lens from fogging up was a struggle. lol

The green heron/blackbird, dove, was a green heron. The sun was shining so brightly off the water, I couldn’t make it out. From the distance I was, and the sun and the foggy camera, it was hard to tell. The green heron, like other herons, have a long neck, but they often keep them tucked close like this–at least when I see them.

Also, this is one of the pictures of the blanket flowers. Several weren’t any good because right after I cleaned my lens it would fog right back up. *sigh*

I spent the evening dancing and having grilled burgers with the kids last night. Well, my daughter and I dancerized, and my granddaughter did a little. We usually have two barking corgis getting underfoot and my granddaughter sometimes gets in the way, or grabs our legs for a hug and my daughter and I spend a lot of time laughing. That exercises our stomach muscles. lol

I did manage 2,000 on Wolff Bros (8,000), and 1,000 on Cougar (14,000).

Hope you are all having a safe and great weekend!

Nature is Beauty

Wild lupine and a yellow wildflower backdrop in Minnesota

Beauty is all around us. We just have to pause, look, and see.

I wrote 2,500 words on the novella. I’m trying to finish it so I can get back to the novel, but I have baby here today. But I’ll try to get 1,000 today. We’ll be watering, but I’m going to try to get her in her swimsuit this time. She was so silly, running through the hose and getting soaked. It was hot, and she had a blast.

She’s due here shortly. Now, if only she’ll take a nap today!

Have a super, lovely day!

The End! Night of the Wolf

The end means I can work on another book, woohoo! I’m always excited to start a new one, BUT, I have to admit, like in a 12-step program, I have tons started!!!!

Here’s is my VERY partial list.

Claiming the White Bear–18,000 words

Woodland Fae–8800 words (I didn’t even know I had started it!)

Bite of the Vampire–(Blood Moon Series, book 2) 8400 words

Night of the Vampire (Blood Moon Series, book 3)–13600 words–do you see a problem here? YES! I have written more of the 3rd book in the series than in the 2nd. Kiss of the Vampire has been out for a long while. I need to finish these two books.)

And that is just a tiny drop in the bucket. When I’m beginning a new book (or continuing a new book as in this case), I’ll re-read a few other stories I’ve started to see if I can get anywhere with them.

After I finished Day of the Wolf, and before I re-read it one last time, I added more to Bite of the Vampire and Night of the Vampire last night. This morning, I’m re-reading Woodland Fae. Claiming the White Bear and Woodland Fae are supposed to be out this year, and Cougar Magic also (which is with a beta reader for now). Maybe I can finish Bite of the Vampire too….

It feels great to finish something, but I often have to stop to do edits on other books, or write other books with deadlines, so then I have to put these books aside. See? I have a good reason. I’m going to have to start writing the next 3 wolf books, for one thing.

Okay, I’m off to read Day of the Wolf and try to catch any mistakes, see if I’ve covered all my bases, and send it off to my beta reader! Then it’s off to one of the other books… It’s like Christmas! Who gets to have me come play with them for a while? And if I really can’t put the book down, it gets finished first.

Have a great one!!!

Time for Walking…

I was trying to wear out baby yesterday, so I strollered her around for 2.8 miles, and she didn’t fall asleep. She was talking away for the longest time, then got really quiet and I thought, this is it! And headed back toward home. Then she began talking again. Two hours after our walk, she finally fell asleep. lol

Grandma was worn out. But I finally managed to write 2,000 words for the novella.

Have a great Saturday! We’re supposed to get rain, last I looked. But now it’s saying much later. I’m enjoying the cooler weather!

In and Out of the Garden

Red petunias in a window flower box, orange devil’s paintbrush, yellow bird’s feet trefoil, blue lupine, pink roses, and wild sunflowers.

The wildflowers and garden flowers are fully in bloom, giving the whole landscape an artist’s painted view.

I wrote a little, but haven’t really had a lot of time. We walked 3.9 miles up and down stairs–176 steps down to the water at Split Rock Lighthouse, but took the long, scenic way around back up.

Off to have more fun! It’s been hot and everyone says I brought the heat here. lol

Hope you’re enjoying your day!

Fall Wild Flowers–St. Croix

Purple and yellow fall flowers in St. Croix. I love fall when the flowers are still blooming and the fall colors are riotous. Maybe not so much here, but in other places!

And baby yesterday. Watch out for those two sharp little baby teeth, her first ones. Whenever she starts pulling my fingers toward her mouth in her strong little fists, I feel like she’s a vampire. 🙂 <3 I laugh and pull my fingers away!  Others have not been so lucky!

Have a beautiful day!!

Lights, Camera, Action!

Diligently working on Bounty (64,000 to go), but when I saw these lights on the floor, I thought, bokeh!

red tailed hawk 900 San Diego 649

In the red-tailed hawk picture, you can see all kinds of beautiful bubbly bokeh.

But see what happens when I try to take a picture of lights shining through the blinds? My havanese want their picture taken. Surely, I meant to do that, right?

Folks pay a lot to create fairy gardens, but mine just suddenly appeared! I didn’t even notice the moss until I looked at the photos on the computer.

Magic pink rhododendron flowers on summer mountain. Dramatic overcast sky. Carpathian, Ukraine, Europe. Beauty world.

The World of Fae

Having a wee bit o’ fun with taking a break and creating a picture while I’m writing The Viking’s Highland Lass. I’ve pitched 3 books to my editor and she’s taking them to the acquisitions meeting. So if they sell, I’ll be on deadline again. Right now…I’m free!

Off to write.

Have a super great and wonderfully fantastic Friday!

Loved the colorful canoeists that matched the fall colors on the hillside.  In Jaguar Hunt, I mentioned the characters wearing colorful life vests and their colorful kayaks while they were on the rapids in Belize, so this reminded me of it.
