We’re not getting it, but I’m hopeful for us to cool down soon. It was 75 at 6 am this morning. It’s going to get to only 82 because we are supposed to have thunderstorms. So we shall see. We can use the cool down. And we can use the rain.
I’m at 76K on Wolf on the Prowl, 4K to go on minimum word count. Aren’t I there already???? Getting there!
Hope your day is super fun filled! 🙂

Halfway done on Wolf on the Prowl, yay! I was out working on weeding. It’s still hot and muggy but if I wait until it isn’t, I’ll have a Garden of Weeds.
Hope your day is terrific!

I haven’t felt like it. It’s been so hot, that I haven’t felt in the mood. But with my 2 year old grandson’s help, we brought out all the decorations, and of course the collection of 3 Snoopy Halloween dogs were his (not really–I got them for my granddaughter over the years but I don’t think she cared about them as much as he did), and a soft pumpkin with a big smiley face, which he took with him in the car to pick her up from school, and slept with. Of course that’s my granddaughter’s too. Last year, he really didn’t notice any of that stuff. This year? It’s all my pumpkin. My doggies. lol He made a pumpkin patch.
So we had fun. Then so my granddaughter wasn’t disappointed that I had decorated already, I had some window thingies to put on the glass and she got to decorate that which made her happy. I had picked them up on clearance last year and plan to do the same thing this year for the next.
I’ve got them both for Columbus Day Friday and Monday, so I’ll probably take them to walmart to pick out one Halloween cuddly that’s theirs.
Okay, I’m off to write. I managed 2,000 words on my off day, so I’m getting closer to the halfway point on Wolf on the Prowl! And miracles of miracles, we got an inch of rain yesterday. Yay!
Have a beautiful fall day somewhere in the world.

Fall colors haven’t really arrived here yet. I’ve been out pulling up expiring zinnia though and doing lots of other yard work. It’s getting cool enough that the fire ants are going lower in the soil and I can pull up all the grass and weeds without getting attacked, if I go early in the morning. I tried to take the bark mulch from my garage to put it out a week ago because I’ve cleaned up the flowerbeds so much, but they were full of fire ants. So with the garage getting colder, they left, yay, and I was able to put out the mulch. Need tons more though.
My daughter and I are going shopping this morning to get anything we need in case things turn really ugly. We’re trying to keep upbeat about the way people behave, but all we can do is try and stay safe.
Aren’t you glad the government doesn’t have an expiration date for you? Of course, it helps to make sure that you don’t have really bad food sitting there waiting for you, but… *sigh* If we lived in an apocalyptic world, any food probably would be edible no matter how expired.
So yesterday, I poured a dressing on my salad, and realized it had expired Jan 2018. I only ate a bite of it before I thought it tasted a little soury and didn’t look quite right and checked the expiration date. But no green mold growing in it. That’s my usual way of knowing something is past eating. So the salad went into the trash. I figured I didn’t want to chance getting sick.
Have you checked your over the counter medicines lately? I rarely take them and when I need to, they’re usually way over-expired. Since that’s all I have, I take them anyway. Maybe the potency isn’t there. But the next time I think of it, I get another new bottle, toss the old one, and then the new one sits their expiring every day while I don’t use it, until it meets it’s expiration date.
Rather than get some new salad dressing (it’s the refridgeratable kind so it does expire earlier), I’ll just boil up the fresh spinach and fry up the mushrooms and eat them that way! Solution found!
Hope your day is filled with freshness with no expiration date in sight!
At least when I visited The International Wolf Center, Axel was showing all the signs of being in charge. He’s two years old here last year and Aidan, who had been the alpha, was eight, and ready to give up the position.
Okay, my granddaughter’s on the way and I’m trying to finish up the last 22 pages of the book. I need to dedicate all three of them to different readers. I’ll do that when I’m done proofing. And I have another promo project my publisher sent me, so I need to get that done this weekend. Plus the two bears!
Can you imagine walking in the dark and running into Mr. Teeth??? The exhibit was so dark, you could barely see the alligator, except for one light shining down on the center. A pretty yellow tree: fall colors on a walk in a forest. Do you take a walk and can’t see the beauty in isolated spots? Or the whole beauty of the forest surrounding you? And here’s a nifty way to create something fun–an old watering can filled with flowers. If I did that, I doubt the plant would last for long–too much water, not enough water. And a beautiful butterfly in a butterfly house, posing for a picture.
I finished The Witch and the Jaguar! Or mostly. Now I’m editing. I woke to thinking: What are they doing with the 2nd house. Whose home are they going to live in? Did they say: I love you? They missed Thanksgiving! So I need to mention a few things. I’ve added a few things to the story already this morning so I wouldn’t forget. But otherwise, the story is done from beginning to end!
My piranha puppies are anxiously bugging me to feed them because they are going to perish on the spot if I don’t. They’re a couple of drama dogs.
Hope you’re enjoying the rest of the weekend. I’m off to work!! Well, food for puppies first. *sigh*
On baby’s and my walk, I captured some pictures of our hot, muggy, Texas fall. And I realized there was a turtle near us. It was so muggy my lens kept fogging up (100% humidity) and then he hurried to get in the water and hide from us so the picture isn’t as clear as I’d hoped it to be. They are really shy around humans still. And I was able to show baby tons of very hungry caterpillars on the milkweed leaves, a carolina anole, the cocoon for the monarch butterfly, butterflies, honeybees, and bumblebees. So we had a science day.
Some days it’s impossible to get word count. Yesterday, it was just not possible. I was trying to finish edits when I could while baby was here. I managed 11 chapters, and still have 7 more to read through today. So I should get it done today, then back to word count on another story. I want to be able to turn in SEAL Wolf Surrender today.
We had stormy weather last night, lightning constantly. It poured, but things don’t look that wet out, too dark to really see. Our low is 65, our high 69. So much better than the heat index of 94 yesterday.
Okay, I’m off to finish SEAL…. hope you have a wondrous day!
