In Progress

I’m playing with Mixer Paints in Photoshop again. This is an unfinished painting, but it’s getting there. They take forever to do. I just play with it when I have the chance. Though I remind myself, I have a ton of other things I need to get done. But I’m also playing with a composite that’s been a lot of fun. I took baby to the grocery store yesterday to get more cough syrup and another chicken. It just appeals. I ended up picking up DM that has mucous thinning ingredients and that sure helped. My other cough syrup doesn’t.

Managed to get to 33K on Bite of the Vampire.

Getting ready for him to be dropped off. He was Miles the Menace yesterday, doing everything I told him not to do. But he’s also an angel and we have a lot of fun. He definitely is nearly a two-year-old. He got into the dog treats, and from a 2 year old mind, he just wants to make the dogs happy. Grandma’s mind? Ack, he will feed the whole container to them and they’ll be sick!

So then I was in the middle of something important and he pulled down the whole container. It’s not light. And the rubber top isn’t that easy to remove. But there he is in the middle of all the dog biscuits on the floor, one in hand, kind of looking surprised at what he had done while he was sitting next to the pile of biscuits. argh. I should have taken a picture! Caught, in the act. Then I took him outside to chalk draw on the patio. Or the fence. Not the house. He got the house 3 times. With no voice, it’s really hard for me to get his attention.

I wonder what we can get into today?

Girl in Ancient Setting

After I worked on this picture, I now have to really get to work. Off to proof Her Wolf for the Holidays one last time and then turn it in. If I have time this weekend, I’ll begin to work on final proofing of Bear in Mind. I managed to get 3,000 words on Bite of the Vampire yesterday. I have to take a break before I begin reading a book I’ve just read all the way through and edited. So that was my day break from Her Wolf for the Holidays. I’m at 30K on Bite of the Vampire! Yay! So about 20K to go, or longer. It’s a YA and they’re usually shorter than my adult fiction.

Still feeling rotten. I thought the antibiotics would really make me feel a 100% quicker, but I have only taken them for 3 days. I just don’t have time for waiting to get better. lol I want to be over this now. It’s my shifters’ fault. They get better half the time it takes for humans to recover from wounds and sickness. So I feel I should too!

Look What I Found in the Yard

I’ve been finding weeds pop up all over the yard, but this one was a surprise. It’s a miniature tomato plant, but maybe 3 weeks along or more? It’s a good size. So I dug it up and put it in my planting bed. My first tomato plant of the season in winter.

I reached the halfway point on Her Wolf for the Holidays. I found something I missed in the edits I had done through Thursday, so glad I caught it this time through.

Signs of Spring

We had 1/2 inch of rain yesterday! My garlic is all looking great. I’m ready to plant. My neighbor was getting his sprinklers ready. Hmm, is it safe to turn on the sprinkler systems yet?

I went to urgent care last night because I’d had sharp pains in my ear, and sure enough, have an ear infection. So the nurse prescribed antibiotics and I had to take 7 pills last night. Six had to be taken in one day, usually spread throughout, but the pharmacist said I could take them all at once because it was already late. I just had to eat my dinner with them. But she said I’d feel better right away if I didn’t delay.

The six small pills leave an awful sulfuric? taste, I think. So I had vanilla yogurt after that and it helped to coat that taste.

I really don’t feel better, but I didn’t cough quite as much during the night, yay! So once I get more sleep, that will help more too.

It’s awful when you feel this bad because everything seems insurmountable. My son-in-law was showing me pictures of him taking the kids to the playground. They were adorable. The thought of doing that myself wore me out. My daughter took my granddaughter to a new castle tower at the place where they do Girl Scouts so she could play on it. Which would be so much fun. I wouldn’t mind climbing it–but the idea of doing that wore me out.

Okay, got to take the garbage out, the dogs out, feed them, the birds, and start working on edits. I should get them done today and I’ll spend the rest of the day and tomorrow rereading it one more time.

I was working on a couple of out of bounds photos for the special project too. So once they’re done, I’ll send them where they need to go and share them here also.

Dealing with a Lost Package–the Saga

So I get an email from my son who says he didn’t get two of his birthday presents that were shipped in the same package. Another item arrived with no problem. BUT, he did get the tracking mailer and for Amazon that counted as delivering the package. He received a letter from Chicago saying so sorry we lost the package.

Even though this was from Amazon, I’ve had other issues like this where I shipped to people Stateside and they got an empty envelope (no book inside), and another where one of the books was missing, and then another where they just got the shipping package label. So I don’t fault Amazon for that. And I will say they’re good when you can get through to someone higher up in customer support.

But before that happens, it’s frustrating. I’m sick, coughing all day and night, both my eyes have viral infections from the sinuses because of the cold, and I have no voice. My throat is sore all the time, and I’m really sleep deprived. From all the coughing, I have a headache. I did the COVID test just to be sure it wasn’t that, sure it was just a cold. The COVID test came back negative.

So I have to do an online chat, can’t call and talk to a person because I have no voice and I’m constantly coughing.

“What can I help you with?”

“My son never received his package. Only the tracking notice was delivered. The package was missing. We have a letter from Chicago saying the package went missing.”

“It was delivered. We show that it was delivered. Did you ask the neighbors? Check with family members living in the household. Check back with us tomorrow if it’s not found.”

“What is the item?”

There’s no choice here to say there are two items. I show the one item.

“Oh, well, we have updated tracking. It will arrive on the 23rd.”

Right! “My son never received his package. Only the tracking notice was delivered. The package was missing. We have a letter from Chicago saying the package went missing.”

“What was the item?”

I tell him about the 2nd item.

“It was delivered. We show that it was delivered. Did you ask the neighbors? Check with family members living in the household. Check back with us tomorrow if it’s not found.”

Seriously, this is what the chatter kept sending.

“Only the tracking notice was delivered. The package was missing. We have a letter from Chicago saying the package went missing.”

“Oh, well, we have updated tracking. It will arrive on the 23rd.”

My dogs are wanting to go out to potty and I don’t want to leave the chat until this is resolved. Poor dogs! “No, it won’t. The shipper said it had been lost.”

“I show that there were two items in the package.”

He gives me a link to both items that I can click on.

YES! Now we’re getting somewhere.

“Would you like me to have you speak to another person?”

YES! Now we might really get somewhere.

If I could have shown them the letter that says it was lost in shipment, that would have been great. But they don’t have a way to do that. So they’re supposed to be giving me a gift card for the amount and I’ll reorder them so he can have a really belated birthday.

We’ll see.

The Flowers Are Coming Out

The temperature is going up. Still feeling miserable with this cold. Did you know that garlic is supposed to be good for a cold? Not just for keeping vampires away? Lemon? Ginseng? Yogurt, raw honey, hot tea. I haven’t been drinking it because they say don’t drink caffeine with laryngitis. But I wasn’t thinking of the other teas I have.

Anyway, I’m tired of not being able to breathe and coughing all night long. So I’m looking at foods that are supposed to help make you feel better if you have a cold or the flu. I’ve been eating chicken soup, but that gets old. 🙂

Butterball Robin

He’s either bulking up to impress a lady, or getting ready for winter hibernation as if he were a black bear up north.

I’m absolutely miserable, so as soon as I eat something and take some tylenol, I’m headed back to bed. The problem is as soon as I lie down, I’m coughing my head off. No voice still.

I’m trying to rest my voice. With no kids and just the dogs here, it should be simple, but then Tanner rushed to eat Max’s food for some reason, and I tried to yell at him to come back to his own dish. No voice, so it was just a croak. When I poured his food into his dish, that’s all that I needed to do. *sigh* I did get a humidifier so will see if that helps. So far, it’s just making me super cold. lol But it’s whisper soft quiet.

I really need to do those book edits, but I’m so tired, I probably wouldn’t catch any mistakes anyway.

Another Rough Night

So my granddaughter asked me why skirts have tags on them because you can wear them any way that you want. Hmm, I’m trying to figure out what she’s asking. I said, “Well, tags are required to tell what materials are in the skirt, washing instructions–can you wash them in the machine or does it have to be washed by hand?–and the size of the skirt.”

“No. That’s not what I’m asking. If you can wear a skirt anyway around, why do they have a tag?”

I laughed. “Okay, so you know to wear the tag in the back with pants and shirts, but the tag is there to tell you if it’s cotton, or rayon, or linen, or wool fabrics. The size. Does it fit you or me? And how you can safely wash it. But we also use it to figure out which way to put the pants and other clothes on. For some skirts, it doesn’t matter.”

I love when she asks questions even though sometimes I’m not sure what she’s asking. But it usually comes out in the wash.

I’m still sick. I never did work on edits yesterday, just felt so bad. I coughed all night, lost my voice yesterday and did you know you’re not supposed to whisper? What? It puts more strain on your vocal cords. No decongestants, avoid alcohol and caffeine, drink plenty of water, gargle with salt water, use a humidifier, and suck on throat lozenges. Still coughing, sneezing, and have a sore throat. I did use Vicks Vapor Rub below my nose and it worked like a dream to open up my nasal passages. Could not breathe in the middle of the night. And I have an awful headache this morning again.

Chicken soup is on the menu today.

I’m still working on art projects and a photo for a lady whose son passed away. I hope I can do it justice.

Bluebird Female on Fountain

The bluebirds love to take baths in the fountain.

We had a wild nonstop day of it yesterday and of course I had to get my daughter’s/grandson’s cold, so did my granddaughter, so I’ve been really under the weather. Coughing all night for the last two nights is miserable. She got scared and ended up in bed with me, and the dogs were whining to go out way before I wanted to get up. We tried selling GS cookies in the front yard last night but it was FREEZING. Usually, we have to worry about everything melting–chocolate, that is!

I have to do some more photo art for a special project, got edits for my Highland wolf book, and have both kids on Monday. I’m hoping I can get some of this stuff done before Monday.

She’s going to dance in a little bit, but we went over her reading words and she actually tried to do a bunch more that she hasn’t learned. She’s also reading a book a day, so that’s been fun Drop it, Rocket, was our book for last night. It reminded me of Tanner. He always gets our socks and puts them on his bed. So I’ll say, “Drop, it, Tanner!” Sometimes he does. Sometimes he doesn’t. Then I have to pick him up and he immediately drops the sock. He’s so silly. He will be wagging his tail hard the whole time. Such a happy, little dog.

Okay, I’m off to read with her and then we’re making some more headbands.
