Taking a Closer Look–Macro in the Garden

Macro red snapdragon, pink coneflower, lavender lantana, orange marigold, milkweed for the Monarch butterflies, radiation lantana

And a closer look at the book! I finished minimum word count, and now I have to finish the book! Not that I haven’t been working toward that all along. I can’t wait to figure out the final scenes. I’m going back in and fleshing out all the rest of the book first, finding more loose ends. I swear the fae are inserting new loose ends for me. I’m going to have to get my notebook out and begin to take notes on what needs to be tied up.

Okay, I’m just working on a couple of photos of the kids in their spider family costumes and then off to write!!!

Hope you have a spider-less day, unless it’s hero time!

Macro Shots in the Garden

Coneflower, yellow esperanza, coleus, lavender lantana, pink zinnia

I haven’t played with macro shots in a while, so thought it would be fun to give it a try!

I’m only 3,000 away from word count goal on SEAL Wolf Surrender. Annoyed with myself that I couldn’t just at least write the last 3,000, just for the minimum goal, but the story isn’t coming to me. Baby is here soon, so then the story REALLY won’t be coming to me. lol

I need to make the bad guys’ presence known early on. One is from the very beginning, so that’s good. I’ve been watching Cold Case Files, interested in seeing procedures on criminal cases, because I write romantic suspense, and the guys they’re after are criminals.

My villains are often shifters, so they take care of their own. Sending a shifter to jail when the world doesn’t know about them, won’t work. It’s fun creating a fantasy world within the real world (cougar shifters, wolf shifters, jaguar shifters, bear shifters, snow leopard shifters), though sometimes it’s just easier creating a whole fantasy world, where the characters visit the real world (as in my fae series).

All right, off to play with baby! Have a wonderful TGIF!

Volunteers in the Garden

I was surprised to see the yellow “Sunshine” ligustrum pop up in a new spot. I didn’t think it would volunteer like that. Though I’ve never had one before, so what do I know? I planted it 3 years ago. In the one picture, you can see the yellow leafed shrub near the end of the flowerbed. That’s the mother plant. These are brand new shoots a distance from the original shrub. I never expected that! I kept thinking I needed something taller in the background on some of that flowerbed, and voila, there’s the solution. I thought the shadows and light were cool too.

In these photos, the ivy is native, just popped up. The woodland fern was the same way, part of the original forest. I have wild grape I keep cutting out as it will take over. And in among the coneflowers and marigolds, a crepe myrtle made it’s appearance. that’s one of those areas that everything is growing. The pine tree, rosebush, and now a youpon holly (also a volunteer) and then on the other side of the tree, bare naked soil. I think something has been digging there because I did have mulch there. In the pot with the pine tree sapling I’m growing for my daughter, I also started a crepe myrtle branch and it’s taking hold!

Sometimes volunteers can be a nuisance. Sometimes they make fun giveaways, or planted in the right place, free plants! Usually, they do really well–life will find a way.

Only 15,000 words left to write on SEAL Wolf Surrender!

Off to take care of baby! Have a great Friday!!!

Love this new review!!

“A thrilling good time with a woman who gets her wolf!”
ALL’S FAIR IN LOVE AND WOLF is a thrilling good time with a woman who gets her wolf and a hero who is overjoyed to be captured. It’s always great seeing familiar favorite characters and revisiting Silver Town. I can’t wait to see if Jenna’s sisters find mates in future stories. As always, I look forward to Terry Spear’s next werewolf romance.~~Miranda Owen, Fresh Fiction http://freshfiction.com/review.php?id=65760

And of course I can’t post a blog without posting some more photography: Coneflowers are just fun flowers. The bottom two are the new ones this year. The ones later in the season have their petals turned down, ready to release their seeds. 🙂 <3 They’re perennials and come back with more flowers every year. I think I need to plant more.

On the writing front, I wrote another 4,000 words to bulk up on the writing before I do edits. I had a lot of promo work to do yesterday with the new reviews and the sale on the Highland wolf series, so that took some time, which means I didn’t get started on the edits.

Baby is nearly here, sooooo I won’t get any writing done today. I might start edits tonight, since this is my off day, so if I write some, or edit some, that puts me a little bit ahead. And hopefully I can get the edits done over the weekend. I’m at 48,000, with 32,000 words to go on the new book! Woohoo, nibbling away at wordcount makes it happen! And then I’ll be writing the new Christmas wolf story for next year.

Gotta run! Have a beautiful Friday!!! 🙂 <3
