Relative Danger–Now in Print!

I loved Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes when I was growing up. But we had some family murder attempts for money also, greed, a shady lawyer who was a relative, just all kinds of cool things to think about while I was writing this story. Nope. You won’t see the real murder attempts in this story, but I have sprinkled them through others to protect the guilty. The shady lawyer? Yep!

I already walked each dog this morning and it’s muggy! It was only 85 yesterday so I managed to get some more weeding done. After I cool down from the two walks, I’ll tackle some more weeding this morning. I’m sure it’s going to heat up again. We had a little rain, but not enough to register in my rain gauge I don’t think.

I’m up to chapter 15 on Deadly Fortunes, have 6 more chapters to proof. Then it’ll be ready, but I have to wait on the new cover and then I can republish it.

I started the second in the series, but when I couldn’t sell to anyone (you know, before indie was an option), I put it on hold and then never got back to it. One of these days, I will!

I bought four more covers. What was I thinking? They’re gorgeous though. I just need to write faster. lol

I need to finish editing Deadly Fortunes and then finish writing Lachlan’s story! They’ll be asking for the synopsis soon and I haven’t finished the story.

Vampire Redemption is OUT!

When I was thirteen, my mother took me to a college play, Dracula. I fell in love with the vampire and felt he should be loved and loved back in return. Not under his control, of course. So that’s where my series began. Not when I was thirteen, but before I began writing wolf shifter stories.

The Virus was Annihilated!

At least I hope so. My granddaughter keeps bringing all this stuff home to me and usually, my immune system fights it. But the last two times, it couldn’t resist the allure. ugh.

I need to figure out what I can eat to get back my strength without irritating my stomach again.

I feel weak and shaky, but I hope I can eat better today and get my strength back. She will be back tomorrow. I hope she doesn’t give me anything else! And I hope she doesn’t get anything else!

I’m still behind on my writing because I suspect I will have her on Friday to makeup for not having her on Monday. Friday was supposed to be a writing day. But at least I feel better!

Okay, I need to feed the dogs, that are like, we aren’t sick, so feed us now!

I loved this review!

I’m still sick, still coughing my lungs out, and still barely getting any sleep. But despite that, I finally managed to write 7,000 words on the story yesterday. So I’m 8K over word count and still have a long ways to go. But I’m thrilled to finally be moving forward again to the end!

At least I finally could concentrate on the story yesterday, unlike earlier when, because of lack of sleep, everything was just a foggy mess, hard to concentrate and come up with ideas. I still need to sleep. Desperately. In the middle of the night, I envisioned three of me, each one taking turns to cough while something was coming out of the darkness to get me. The other night, I dreamed I was being choked to death, until I could finally get a cough out. So yes, nighttime hasn’t been my friend.

Okay, I’m off to cough and write and hopefully get somewhere with this. I was just asked for marketing materials for the book on top of that. No more deadlines! I need to finish this book.

Storms Make for Great Vampire Days…and Nights

We had stormy-looking weather, barely any chance of rain, and it poured. Yay! The sunset was spectacular! It truly looked like a vampire day…and night!

One of the covers I had to redo for my vampire series, was The Siren’s Lure. I loved the first one I had, but it was a stock photo that I found was popping up all over other authors’ books, so I had to create my own.

I had to put aside Silver Town Wolf Christmas for a day because I had to work on final edits for You Had Me at Jaguar. They’re due Friday, and I have to take care of baby on Wed and Fri, so today I’ll finish it up and turn it in. I have 3 more chapters and a prologue to go. And then I’ll be adding the edits in that I’ve done on the paper copy of Silver Town Wolf Christmas.

I can’t remember why I started writing vampire novellas, but I did, and so this is one of them!

The Siren’s Lure, a novella

Playing around with Photoshop & Bound by Danger

macro-shot-of-flowers-and-sabine-and-zoerro-wolvesI learned how to create a signature as a brush. And how to add highlights to the letters, though I hadn’t done anything with this one and it just popped up that way. lol

Do you ever do things you’re clueless about and you have no idea why?

Anyway, these are pictures I took of a macro shot of crepe myrtle, and a regular shot of Zoerro, and Sabine in a compilation. She died, which was so sad, but they had become great friends.

bound-by-danger-cover-new-water-900I loved this photographer’s shot, but the water was gray, foaming, waves, but no matter how I tried to colorize it, it wasn’t working. So I added water from two different photos, and I liked it much better.

In this story, I used the location of where I’d worked on active duty at Fort Hood. Two news stories had caught my attention at the time. One of the majors I worked with was being framed for selling arms to the enemy during the war, only he was just the general’s aide, and the general was the one responsible. So the Austin newspaper was following the story to ensure that he didn’t get crucified because he was in the wrong position at the time–and the little guy. Another story had just occurred too, and this one was about an unscrupulous literary agent–a scammer, who was asking for money from eager authors, who believed they would finally publish their baby through him. He was up on charges all over the place, changing his name, and fled to Canada, and had made over a million dollars in the fraudulent scam. He didn’t stop either. But he’d take everyone’s money, pretend he was busy reading their manuscripts, and they’d never hear from him again.

So I combined the two stories and created a fantasy, of sorts. She has future visions, and he’s a federal agent looking into her brother who worked for the literary agent. But they’re on a collision course with disaster as things heat up between them and people want her dead because she just knows way too much…

I actually started these characters in Deidre’s Secret when she was a teen in a YA story. I fell in love with the sister and brother and so then they had their grown-up story.

Bound by Danger

Army officer Deidre Roux has hidden her psychic abilities until now. But ominous visions plague her and between the martial arts tactics her twin brother taught her and the hand-to-hand combat she learned in the Army—she’s realizing just how important these skills are for her well-being.
When a reporter moves in next door, she’s not sure just what to think. Dave Carter owns a gun—it is Texas—and comes to her rescue when her brother suddenly drops into her life again. From there it’s the normal stuff that women and men tend to do when they’re getting to know each other—boating, swimming, dancing—except for one thing…she’s trying to keep her secret under wraps at all costs, which is difficult to do when she’s under surveillance by the FBI, and people keep wanting her dead.
Could a reporter, who’s not really a reporter, prove he might just have what it takes to keep her safe–for the long run?

From Single Title to a Series!

When I wrote Bound by Danger, it was a single title book. 🙂 It’s in part based on some of my military experiences, some on true case crimes, and well, the psychic business and the romance is pure fantasy. Some of it has to be fiction after all! All the locations are real places I’ve either visited or lived. So it was a lot of fun for me to write this story. What I didn’t expect was to have a great outpouring of love for the book and that fans wanted to see the next in the series. 🙂 And I love it!!!

In the Dead of the Night

Allan Thompson works for a special agency that takes down terrorists, but when he’s given the mission to protect one of Thurstan Wilson’s mistresses, he knows something isn’t right. Jenny Brant doesn’t have much time before she’s history and she has a plan, but what happens next turns her whole world inside out.
Allan Thompson arrives in Waco, Texas for a mission of utmost importance–protect a terrorist’s mistress from being the next victim on his hit list. But when the mission goes down wrong, Jenny Brant is nearly killed and Allan begins a new mission–protect her at all costs–as her faux husband until she can regain her memories.
Everything about the mission seems wrong–all starting with one Jenny Brant who doesn’t fit the profile of the kind of woman Wilson usually hooks up with. Allan and his team must protect her, but at what cost to his own sanity or his heart?
Jenny Brant begins to regain her memories, but when she learns she has a huge inheritance that Wilson wants by marrying her, and the agent Allan Thompson will marry her instead to secret her money away with the Agency’s protection, she still can’t remember why she would have been a killer’s main squeeze. When Wilson’s thugs try to return her to him, she becomes less sure of who the good guys are and who she truly is.
The only thing she knows for certain–if someone doesn’t take down Wilson, her life is forfeit.
 So we’re again in Texas, and again Bound for… well, in this case Danger, of course, and so much Trouble. Isn’t that great???
I’m still editing the story, and tweeking the cover, but what do you think?

I did write 7,000 on Jaguar Pride over the weekend, 7,000 over my quota for the week. If I get lucky and the ending comes to me, I should have the end written by the end of the week.

But today, I’m going to run errands, have lunch out, and play at the zoo. So are you ready to be Bound for Trouble?
