Ack, Deadline Moved UP!!!

It’s chilly out this morning and I want to weed!!!! It’s just beautiful out. But, they moved up the deadline on my novella because my editor is going on vacation. I wrote 7,000 words on Friday, yesterday got the last 3,000, and now it’s finished. I just need to type the changes to the last chapter, add the epilogue, and then send it off.

The best laid plans. I still need to write the marketing materials for Wolff Bros 2, oh, and the letter to the reader for Dreaming of the Wolf and then I’m off to write the Halloween cougar novella, earlier than I thought I could. Yay!

So weeding??? We’re under tropical storm warnings today, so not sure if I can get to it after I finish edits.

A tiny Purple Magic sapling flowering–I’ve never seen one this small flower!

Okay, I’m off to work. I managed 2500 words yesterday, 5500 to go. I did a ton of yard work, even though it was still way too hot. Today, it’s supposed to be 68 this morning, yay! So once it’s light, I’ll begin to work.

But I need to wrap this baby up–Tangling with the Wolf, here I come!

More No Hair Practice

I’m still working on my first short hair little boy–Elevate Your Art Photoshop painting. The photo is from Pixabay.

I managed to get 2,000 words yesterday, 8K to go. It’s still hot, but tomorrow it’s supposed to be 71 in the morning, and Fri, 67! Yay! So I’ll get some yard work done.

Little one is on her way and we’ll have lots more redecorating going on I’m sure. She moves everything from one place to another, constantly. At least she’s having a ball.

Redid the Snow Boy

With suggestions from the class guru, I was able to turn this scene into more of a winter scene. I love it. She had said not to do a color scheme like this, which is why I hadn’t, but she said my picture was the exception to the rule.

So yesterday, little one and I had the following discussion: “I want some popcorn.”

“You can have it when you stay overnight with me. Mommy will give some to me for the overnight stay.”

“Mommy doesn’t have any popcorn.”

“Oh, well, she’ll get some–for when you stay overnight.” I finally picked some up at the grocery store, but that’s kind of our special treat. Movies and popcorn for an overnight stay.

So I was telling her dad when he picked her up about our popcorn discussion. He said he had gotten some more at the grocery store and they’d eaten a bag of it the night before. Lol

Moral of the story, don’t believe everything a 3-year-old tells you.

I had to ship birthday presents this morning. Now I’m working on setting Tangling with the Wolf in the fall. We’re actually dropping down to 67 on Friday morning! Yay! I’ll be out weeding first thing then.

Sleepy Bumblebee

Bumblebee on Zinnia

I was out taking pictures of jumbo mushrooms when I came across this sleepy bumblebee. So I was able to get really close, he stirred a little, and I was done.

Little one will be here and we’ll be decorating for fall. It will be like Christmas for her as we bring out all the decorations to set up and that will be fun for both of us. It doesn’t feel like fall. It feels like hot summer. But I’d rather have it set up and enjoy it for a longer while, than put it up and take it down to set up for Christmas in short order.

I’m halfway done on Tangling with the Wolf. I realized I don’t have a season for the story. Setting the season will make it feel more real. But what season??? A special event? New Years! Or Halloween…or fall, or spring, or summer or winter. I just need to figure out what I feel so I can dress my characters right. I realized I don’t have them dressed at all. Clothes and setting can reveal more about the characters….so need to put on my thinking hat.

Double Rainbow

The rainbow was so big I couldn’t capture the whole thing. And off to the right, you can see another rainbow on top of it. We rarely get rainbows, so when I peeked out the door to see if we had a lot of rain or not, I saw the rainbows. Grilled cheese was cooking on top of the stove, totally forgot about it while I grabbed my camera and ran out to take shots of the rainbow. There are more important things to do in life, you know.

Luckily, I rescued my grilled cheese sandwich before it was blackened.

I passed my no-hair portrait review! I’m still working on a couple of more, but I’m off to do short hair, and I’m watching medium fur dog lessons. I’ve been an epic fail on fur so far, part of the problem being that the dogs I have to work on have a mix of fur, so I’m going to watch all the videos from short to long fur, get the brushes and then work on some more dogs.

But in the meantime, I’m 3,000 words behind on Tangling with the Wolf because of working on edits on Wolff Bros 2. It’s off to the editor and now I’m up to 7,000 on Tangling. 13K to go. So nearly halfway. Love writing novellas!

No Hair Photoshop Painting Practice

I’m waiting on the last required photo for approval for no hair. But I need to do some more practice ones and this is one of them.

I finished edits on Wolff Bros last night, need to add acknowledgements and then turn it in. Today I’ll be trying to come up with ideas of where to go on Tangling with the Wolf novella. Hopefully, I’ll write like gangbusters.

Lovely Little Dragonfly–Warriors of the Garden

I love dragonflies. They eat bad flying insects. Between them, butterflies, bumblebees and hummingbirds in the garden, my granddaughter and I were thoroughly entertained.

I often don’t see a hummingbird at rest, but my neighbor has a tree next to my fence where they will sit. I tried to get a shot of them, but not sure if they came out.

So I finally got a pass on my portrait and uploaded the next one. In the meantime, I have the third one completed, and I’m working on a fur course.

I ended up getting 500 words on Tangling with the Wolf–the novella on my non-writing day while little one was here. Then I was working on Wolff Bros 2 edits based on my beta readers’ critiques. I hope to get that done today and then get the rest of my word count for today.

We had wild thunderstorms twice yesterday. We weren’t supposed to have any rain. But I will take any that we can get. Little one usually sings, “Rain, rain, go away.” And I tell her, “Oh, no, we need the rain!” I was telling her that all the little animals need the rain, and she finally was singing, “Rain, rain, come again.” I’ve got to train her right. lol

We have a better chance of rain today when we weren’t supposed to. I’m glad. It’s helping to cool things off a bit. Maybe I can get some more weeding done.

Okay, I’m off to finish these edits and then get back to writing.

Busy Little Bumblebee

Bumblebees are territorial and they can get mad when you bother them, but I just had to get some pictures of them so I was madly dashing around the garden taking shots of them every chance I could get.

I read where colleges are back in session, students are getting sick, no quarantine in place, just send them home wherever they are from–brilliant!–so they can spread the virus to their families and hometowns. This reminds me of when I was talking to a college student, from a great distance away, who couldn’t wait to go back to College Station, Texas A & M.

“I’m careful around my parents, but when I’m back at college, we’re going to party! We don’t get it. If we did, it wouldn’t make us that sick.”

“But people of all ages have died from it,” I said.

Nope, he didn’t believe it. Not big enough numbers to convince him. He’s immune. His friends are immune. Let’s party! And so now those same students are being sent back to their families–the ones they said they would protect–and…well, you know where it goes from there.

And who is responsible? The colleges that have opened, instead of doing things virtually. Or quarantined in place, so the students could get better on their own and not spread the virus further.

I rest my case.

I knew I shouldn’t read the news. Little one will be here soon. We’re going to feed the turtles if we can get out before it gets too hot. I’m up to 4,000 words on Tangling of the Wolf, need 16K more! That’s what I love about novellas. Short and sweet. Though mine usually end up around 28K.
