Purple and Red

Ranunculus flowers in bloom. First came the red, and they’re still blooming. And now the purple. But the weather has taken a dive. But it’s warming up again, then cold next week and warming up. I like the warming up because it makes it the perfect weather before the heat settles in.

I only got 1,000 on the word count yesterday instead of at least 2,000, but I was working on taxes, and that takes days. I always tell myself I’ll get better organized in the new year and it won’t be such a mess by the beginning of the next year when I have to start this all over again. Ha!

I was reading an article on not beating yourself up about stuff. I agree! When you feel down about something you’re doing, your work, your appearance, your life, think of two things positive about yourself.

I find that doing something nice for someone else can make me feel better. Say something nice.

When I was at the grocery store with my granddaughter the other day, a man offered to take my basket and return it to the store for me when I’d unloaded everything but her from the basket. It’s the kind for kids, so he wouldn’t have used it. It was a nice gesture. I was so surprised and really appreciated it.

I had my hands full of books to ship and a man hurried to open the post office door yesterday. I do that when I see someone who needs help, moms with little kids, older people, both with baskets or kids. It makes me feel better because they appreciate it so much. Just doing something so simple as that can make someone else’s life less complicated for just a few seconds and yet can brighten their whole outlook for a bit.

I was feeling on cloud nine yesterday, maybe in part due to having a peppermint mocha, did you know that peppermint can make you feel better? It does me! Anyway, they said not to get the safety inspection done on my car until April, so I will wait on that. But after I shipped my books, I ran into a different grocery store for a couple of things I forgot to get and this store had 90% off on their Valentine’s stuff. Wow, a big ostrich and monkey and assorted soft pillows to play with for my granddaughter’s birthday , and two little items I can use for my bears for $3.50? Perfect! Yep, I was on cloud nine.

I’m off to write or work on taxes, it all has to be done! Probably both. Hope you have something fun to do today! TGIF!

I Could Probably…

Ranunculus–Buttercups Growing Now!!

Get three times more stuff done during the day if I wasn’t thwarted by the spinning dial.

You know what I mean. That annoying little icon that spins and spins and spins saying that the computer can’t keep up with your actions. I don’t even have fifty-million screens open, so it doesn’t have any excuse. I try to type on my manuscript. The words are flowing through my brain, please, please let me get them down before they disappear. Nope. Three words. Spinning dial.

All right, already. I’ll work on my jaguar. It’s a zoo picture I took, beautiful jaguar, BUT the fence ruined some of the majesty, so I’m removing the fence as much as I can to have a pristine jaguar. Nope. I’m not. Spinning dial.

Okay, fine, I’ll check the weather. Ha!

Okay, I’ll post my blog. I swear the spinning dial is silently laughing evilly as it watches me struggle with doing ANYTHING I want to do. I got up at 4 am. It’s 6:30, and I’m only now able to write this blog.

Finally, the spinning blob has gone back to sleep and now I feel like I need a nap. But nope!!! While it’s gone, I’ve got to hurry and do everything I was trying to do in the last 2 1/2 hours in sonic speed!

Do you ever feel like the spinning dial is slowing you down?

Have a spinning dial-less day!!!!

Brrr It’s Cold out There!

I reached over 4,000 words yesterday–76,000 to go, and man, we had a 40-degree drop in temperature and it was rainy all day. It was nice, really. If I’d dressed warmer. I kept thinking it was going to warm up! With a rainy day and blustery wind, it was chilling! I must look at the weather forecast more often.

These are pink gerbera daisies (filled with rainwater), yellow coreopsis, and red ranunculus (buttercup). What’s neat is that they’re all perennials. Like my stories, they keep coming back, keep growing, and are beautiful. Well, at least the flowers are. lol

It’s still cold! But I bundled up better today. The dogs won’t go out without me and I’m rushing them to do their business. At least it will warm up soon, and it isn’t as cold as the blue north. I think my friends in Minnesota and Chicagoland and all those other cold places won’t ever get out of the deep freeze. Sending warm wishes to melt the snow!

Have a great one! Back to the story. 🙂 <3

Mystery Flowers

Most flowers I know what they are when they bloom. The buttercup (ranunculus, purple flower), the pink daylily I just planted and it’s the first to bloom of all the daylilies I’ve planted. The azalea (lavender with water drops on it), the coreopsis (golden flower, had to do a search on it, because I’d forgotten what it was), and the other mystery plant, have no idea! So it’s like Christmas in spring!

Every year I plant more perennials, because I like to see them take hold and expand, rather than just add annuals that have to be replaced every year. I have planted some in the past–pentas, because the hummingbirds love them, but I’ve run out of room for them.

Every day, it’s like Christmas as I check to see who is blooming, and voila! There’s another new sunny face smiling up at me.

I need to find before and after pictures of how my plants are growing. I love seeing pictures like that!

Okay, I’m off to make the final changes on Her Jaguar Protector and then get ready for Easter early and a baby birthday party.

Enjoy a little mystery in your day too!
