We went for a long walk, didn’t see any turtles, but left food for them up on the bank. It was chilly, so maybe they were trying to keep warm. We got to see all the Halloween decorations that were out and a family taking pictures of a ghost and a little girl who was celebrating her spooky 2 year old birthday.
I went through Tangling with the Wolf edits yesterday, and will work on them again today. I also turned in the marketing materials for Wolff Bros 2 Christmas book.
I was trying to come up with the story idea for the next cougar book–A Christmas one. It kept me awake last night. I had whole scenes in mind. I need to write down what I vaguely remember before I lose it for good. When I was coming up with a trope for Wolff Bros, I had a funny idea for a vampire–but promptly forgot it. lol
But no wonder! I was also writing the synopsis Catch the Cougar, and with working on 3 different stories in one day, it’s easy to make mistakes. In my long synopsis for the wolf story, that includes jaguars, a cougar had replaced one wolf and one jaguar. Laughing. No cougars in that story!
Back to more adventures with little one. Even sharpening a crayon can be an adventure!
This is the first book in the Arctic Wolf series and this will be the 10th Anniversary release with a new novella. For those who already have the ebook, you can download the new version on March 31. For those who already have a paperback copy, the novellas will be in their own book in the future.
Love, love it. Goes with my blanket. ~~Barbi Davis
Well, I’m spending way too much time on reading articles about the coronavirus, and need to spend more time thinking and writing.
But lots of articles about what could work has come out of this. Like the use of copper–which we no longer use:
Canceled trip to Seattle/Vancouver–it was supposed to be for the end of April. So had to cancel on the kennel, Amtrak, still need to do the airline reservation, but they said to wait until 72 hours before the flight leaves. I’ll probably try on Monday. Thankfully, I had trip insurance and it seems that means I can get a voucher for flying some other time.
I’ve been staying home, though we don’t have an order in place for it here, but they’re not doing hardly any testing either, so who knows how many we really have who are sick with the virus. And it can easily be spread when someone has it before they’re showing symptoms. So, the next time you cast an evil eye at someone who has allergies–post nasal drip, and a cough–remember that person might be perfectly healthy. It’s the guy or gal on the other side of you who looks as healthy as can be who could be carrying the virus.

So in other news, my editor said they were giving my Highland Wolf book the title of: Wolf in Plaid. It will come out April 27, 2021. So excited! Love the title. Can’t wait to see the cover and share.
Reporting on the Goodwill News during these difficult times:
Florida distillery drops booze for sanitizer
A Florida craft distillery has halted making alcoholic beverages in
favor of hand sanitizer – and it’s giving the stuff away for free.
Copper Bottom Craft Distillery in Holly Hill announced the BYOB offer –
you bring the bottle, they will fill it – on Wednesday. Within hours
they had given away 20 gallons, mostly in 4-ounce pours. Customers
included representatives from a
sheriff’s office and a fire department. There were obstetricians,
medical clinic workers, school teachers and service industry
professionals.
“We’re just
trying to spread some goodwill,” said Jenni Craig, who owns the business
with her husband, Jeremy, and his parents. “This is a crazy time going
on right now, and we want to do what we can to help.”

In You Had Me at Wolf, I have a St. Bernard named Rosco. He carried a little barrel of doggy treats around his neck at the ski lodge and was a rescue dog. I loved this picture circulating for our emergency times! One of my fans said after she saw this posting: Help! I need help! lol Keep a sense of humor. It will help to get through the dark days ahead.
I am determined to get more writing done today! Have a good one. Hunker down. Change everything you own out to copper. Good luck with that!
So we’re celebrating Christmas today. Last night my daughter emailed me and asked if I got the tortillas. You know, for the breakfast tacos. Now, when I picked up the dinner fixings on Thursday, I asked her what else I needed. Nothing.
So no tortillas for breakfast tacos. She said that meant they were deconstructed breakfast tacos. Just remember that. If you don’t have all the ingredients for a meal, they’re….deconstructed. lol
I figured I get up early enough before they all wake up and I’d get my daughter and myself a drink from Starbucks on the way to the grocery store. My son-in-law only drinks Dr. Pepper.
Now, yes, we have a lot of crime in the area, we’re a suburb of Houston after all, BUT we also have a lot of nice folks. When I pulled up to the window to pay for our drinks, the cashier said that the man ahead of me had bought my drinks. Merry Christmas.
You know how that made me feel? Like spreading the cheer. What a sweet thing to do. There are indeed truly nice people in the world.
I told the Hispanic cashier at the grocery store about no tortillas for breakfast tacos as I was buying them and she laughed. I’ve never had them so this is all a mystery to me. I told her about my daughter saying they were deconstructed. If you can make someone smile today, go for it!
My daughter emailed me and said little one is running around like crazy, and my son-in-law is zonked out.
That’s okay. I need to blog, get my camera ready, work on a vampire romance and when they get here, have a truly lovely family Christmas.
As a writer, I have to remind myself of that. Sometimes, I have to get the backstory out, just so I know a little about the situation. I can’t plot out a story from start to finish. So I have to find my way.
I wrote the beginning, but it’s not the beginning. It doesn’t have any oomph. But you have to get started. You can’t edit what you haven’t written. And sometimes I find that the beginning is maybe a few pages down, or even later in the story. Or, it’s just to help me get started and I can get rid of it later.
In any event, on another sleepless night, I was thinking of how I wanted to start the story. Kind of. I don’t plot.
I took this photo of the orangutan momma and her baby eating lettuce leafs at the Waco zoo, but the background was so ugly and cluttered, I wanted to emphasize the momma and baby so added an oil texture.
Okay, I’m off to write before I have to go to the dentist. Who all hates going to the dentist????? I have nothing against dentists. They are good for my teeth. I just hate what has to be done to my teeth!

The snarling cougar and red wolf are created using a paint mask splatter and then clipping the animal to the mask, then adding a texture!
I ran more errands than I planned yesterday, wrote a 1,000 words on the novella, and hope to have it done by Saturday. Then I’m starting on the full length novel, Red Wolf Christmas.
In the meantime, I received more promo blogs to do, but I’m concentrating on the novella first! Need to finish it and send it to my beta readers so I can edit it again and send it to my editor.
Baby’s on her way, and that means not much writing can be done today. Hope you all are having a great day!
Centaurs in love. When I need a break, I create pictures, take pictures, play with my dogs, play with my granddaughter, garden, weed, weed, weed….but mostly write.
I will never lose my love of fantasy though. It takes me out of the drudgery of life: didn’t I just clean that toilet? What’s the ring doing there again? Weeds? I pulled them all. How come there are more now than before? Groceries? I have no groceries again? Wasn’t I just at the store?
Yep, fantasy is the stuff of fun.
Have a great, fantastical day. Now it’s time to get back to Billionaire She-Wolf and that means fun!
Maybe not, but I’m moving in a direction that I might need to change. Still, I have a story rolling, rolling, rolling, and I’m excited! I love it when I get an idea and can start moving to the end. I can change it. Sure I can. But I have to have something down on “paper” before I can change it.
I thought I was going to be behind yesterday on Wolff Bros story because I wrote all day on SEAL Wolf Team to the Rescue. But I must have been WAY ahead on word count, 3500 instead of 1500 because I was right where I was supposed to be. Which is good because today, I’m going to be behind. I’m concentrating on the novella because it has to be turned in sooner. I wrote 6000 words yesterday!! I hope to get 4,000 today and I’ll be close to halfway done. That’s the miracle of novellas. They don’t take as long to write.
Okay, I’m off to get going because it’s almost 8 am and I don’t even know how that happened. Do you?
