So I’ve been playing around with the art challenges on Oscraps and this was one of them. Color Play.
I won one for last month!
Today, I’m working on Wolf on the Wild Side. I got a 1,000 words yesterday, wanted 2,000, but I was rereading Vexing the Highlander before I put it up on ACX for narration for an audio book. I needed to revise my biography and put it in the same font as His Wild Highland Lass, then I’ll upload them today and get back to work on Wolf.
I’m also cutting down some holly trees that have sprouted up on their own and are trying to take over all the other plants in their vicinity!
Hope you all get that monkey business out of the way and then have time to play!
I was super lucky when I went to take pictures at the zoo the other day. The two orangutans were on the move and then this one climbed up onto the tree branches and posed for me. Just beautiful! Sometimes I get lucky! Rarely, but sometimes. Woohoo, turned in White Wolf Moon, worked on more of Billionaire and I was working on the dreaded taxes. And finished them yesterday too!
Then my dogs were chasing another dog on the other side of the fence, and they got their paws all muddy yesterday. So I scooped them both up, and took them to the bathroom and gave them both a bath in the tub. Then they got to go to bed to dry off after I towel dried them. They won’t let me hair blow their hair. Too noisy. And I don’t blame them. So once they had lunch, I took them outside and miracle of miracles, they both behaved themselves.
No even looking for the other dogs when they went out. Yay! In fact, while I was cutting back dead fern fronds, they were staying close to me and just chilling. Maybe I cured them of racing to the fence and then barking at the other dog, running the length of it. I just need to take them inside if they do it again, and give them a bath. lol Well, we’ll see how long that works. I suspect, not long, unless I repeat it several times and they finally get a clue.
We have thunderstorms coming in this afternoon and the temperature dropped to 49. That looks like the lowest we’re going to have from now on. Which means, maybe I can get some flowers. Things are slowly starting come back. But I suspect the palm trees people had are not going to come back. And the oleanders might not either, unless they come up from the roots.
I need to cut my dead ornamental grass back too before all the new green sprouts come out. Usually none of this stuff dies in winter. Even the ferns would remain green. But I see life everywhere. And I even saw an early yellow swallowtail flying around the other day when there are hardly any flowers out, poor little butterfly. Normally we would have tons out already.
I worked on edits again on Billionaire yesterday, need to plan my word goals to reach to get this book done by July 1st.
They’ve expanded vaccinations to more of the population starting Monday, so I’m going to try and get one scheduled. And have a ton of other things I need to do on Monday. My list is growing, but I’m also determined to write a lot. I’ll also be alternating between that one and You Had Me at Cougar, when I get stuck on Billionaire.
And I guess that’s it!
Have a super, beautiful day! I’m looking forward to the rain, just hope the electricity doesn’t go out. I have too much to do!
I work on my main computer all day and then my laptop at night. So it throws me off when I have no internet on my main computer. I received Wolf Fever to proof but I’m trying to edit Red Wolf still, so I meant to work on it there, but I couldn’t open my email where I have my updated version of Red Wolf. Yes, I could use a flash drive to transfer it. But I need my internet to do research and stuff while I’m working on the book.
Anyway, so I’m on chapter 10, catching changes, and making a list of stuff I mentioned and didn’t go anywhere with. Hoping to get another 10 chapters today. Tomorrow, little one will be here.
So I finished the print version of Cougar Halloween Mischief and it should be available soon. I have to take little one to the doctor this morning, and we’re going to have all our fun decorating. I bought some Christmas bells for her to jingle. Hope to take pictures of her adding ornaments to the tree. We’re going to make chocolate chip cookies, and take a long walk so I can pay my home owner dues, and just plain have fun.
And one of my dogs has kennel cough. Hopefully he doesn’t give it to my other dog. They both had shots for it, but this has happened before where they are immunized for kennel cough and both got it anyway.
As a writer, I have to remind myself of that. Sometimes, I have to get the backstory out, just so I know a little about the situation. I can’t plot out a story from start to finish. So I have to find my way.
I wrote the beginning, but it’s not the beginning. It doesn’t have any oomph. But you have to get started. You can’t edit what you haven’t written. And sometimes I find that the beginning is maybe a few pages down, or even later in the story. Or, it’s just to help me get started and I can get rid of it later.
In any event, on another sleepless night, I was thinking of how I wanted to start the story. Kind of. I don’t plot.
I took this photo of the orangutan momma and her baby eating lettuce leafs at the Waco zoo, but the background was so ugly and cluttered, I wanted to emphasize the momma and baby so added an oil texture.
Okay, I’m off to write before I have to go to the dentist. Who all hates going to the dentist????? I have nothing against dentists. They are good for my teeth. I just hate what has to be done to my teeth!
Okay, so I should quit monkeying around and get to work, but baby is here today, so that puts a real crimp in writing.
Monkey chilling, manta ray swimming, and snow sitting on shelf mushrooms.
Wrote 4,000 words yesterday! Getting close to the end of The Witch and the Jaguar, about 5,000 more words. Hope to have it done by this weekend and off to beta readers. Then I need to get back to Woodland Fae and start working on edits for Silver Town Wolves: Home for the Holidays.
If you celebrate Thanksgiving, are you ready? I’m going to try and not eat so much! I do better at setting word goals and meeting them. lol
I’d be watching animated features when I need to be proofing You Had Me at Jaguar, but baby is here and while I try to post my blog, I’m bouncing her on my lap, listening to Stickman, Eoic Battle Music, with my document open to read as I can!
Hope you have a fun day!!! Baby was a grouch so I’m working to ungrouch her. So far it’s working!
My Havanese loved the St Bernard and barked at him to run along the fence with them. They ran back and forth, back and forth, then they took breathers and checked each other out again. He was such a mellow fellow, and he’s just a puppy. If the fence wasn’t there? They’d probably have been afraid of him.
He inspired me to add him to Flight of the White Wolf, which is coming out next year.
Have a great one!!

Okay, so SEAL Wolf Undercover is done, just need to reread the last 3 chapters to make sure I didn’t add any mistakes as I was writing! And I’m working on Vexing the Highlander, which will be my novella contribution to the anthology, Enchanting the Highlander. We’ll be posting the cover soon. I’m working on my cover also for now. And we still are waiting on some other links for the sales sites.
We are doing a preorder and release week of only 99 cents. Release date is Oct 18, so be sure and get yours as soon as you can because it won’t last long at that price! 🙂 <3 We’ve never offered our anthology for 99 cents before, and all the stories are brand new!
I’m not sure what kind of a monkey he was that I photographed at the San Diego Zoo, but isn’t he sweet?
