There’s something about a dog that makes you feel good. They love you when you love them back. I can be quietly working, but if I begin reading out a passage to see if it sounds right, both will look up at me to see if I’m talking to them.
And once I glance at them, then it’s all tail wags because I’m looking at them. Sometimes, they seem like a nuisance–when I have to keep taking them outside to potty when I’m in the middle of something, or Tanner barks when baby is sleeping, BUT they are a pure joy too, curled up on my lap or lying beside me while I’m working away on my laptop or on the PC.
I wasn’t going to get another dog after I lost my last one, and it was maybe 4 years before I bit the bullet, and I’m glad I did. Because adoration goes both ways.

I completely agree! My boy is my supporter, my companion, and he makes sure I take a break when I need to. Yes he shouts a lot, he needs lots of attention, but he is adorable and the most amazing family dog 🙂
I so agree! I remember watching a program where they brought dogs into a nursing home to give comfort and joy, and in one case, the man had been a concert pianist. He couldn’t play anymore because of his arthritis. When he began petting the dogs during visits, he was able to play again! Also, I’ve watched studies where interviews were conducted with people–with a dog they were petting or cuddling, and without, and they recorded how much more relaxed people with dogs were than those without while doing an interview.
My dogs have their human well trained. At least I think so, They might say otherwise if they could talk. People that love dogs are special, if I do say so myself. Grin
Oh, yes, of course they do. Me too, though I’m trying to untrain them so that I’m more the alpha. Sometimes it works. 🙂 And I agree about being special. I just saw a video of a 6 year old who shows what it’s like to give love to dogs who are hoping for adoption. He is so cute, and he’s so good with them, and he’s saved tons of dogs’ lives.
