Little Boy and His Big Friend

Wouldn’t you want him as a friend, not foe?

I started pulling the weeds out of the front lawn. In this heat, they really took over. So it’s a job, but someone’s got to do it! Little bit by little bit, I’ll get it done. It’s still 100 degrees + with humidity factor, so I can’t do as much as I want each day. Even at 7 last night, it was 95.

I’m up to 45K, 35K to go for minimum word count on Wolf on the Prowl. Woohoo!

Wizard Baby

I had to take Tanner in for his teeth cleaning. I hate to because every time I do, he needs more teeth pulled. I’ve never had a dog that has had to have teeth removed. I’ll know the verdict later today.

Anyway, I’m here with the baby today, trying to find Halloween shows for him to watch. Spookily the Square Pumpkin is a hit. My grandson is “no, no, no” to everything this morning, except for our walk and he always wants to take that, and then he saw the cute little bats talking to each other and that was it. He was hooked. I want to play Room on the Broom for him. It’s one of my favorites. lol

Little Boy and His Basset Hound

We don’t get pretty fall days like this normally. Though one year, one of my trees was the most gorgeous yellow and I thought, how did that happen and I had never noticed it do that before? Because the rain has to be just right and it had been dry every year before that.

Okay, we’re off to run errands, ship a bear, get some groceries. It’s my special time with my grandson. We use the special fire engine car to ride in. We already had our stroller walk.

Ten Legged Octopus

Okay, so he’s not quite anatomically correct but in a fantasy world, he could exist! The photo of the hammerhead shark and fish I took at one the aquariums. Probably in Omaha.

So we got more rain. 3/4 of inch, yay! And a wild storm when I went to pick up my granddaughter. Then my electric was out last night and I’ve been trying to reset the breakers and get everything to working again. Still don’t have any electricity in part of my kitchen and I’ve already reset the breakers.

And Tanner hurt his leg somehow. Havanese are known to have joint issues and he’s sprained it somehow, so I carried him out to go to the bathroom. At least he’s only 15 lbs, so he’s a lightweight.

I’m off to get some word count. Made it to 20K so 1/4 of the way done, but should have reached 21K. *sigh*

Pumpkin Time!

At least the grocery store is full of them. But if we put them out now? They would turn to mush.

It was the coolest day we’ve had in months, maybe only reaching 85 yesterday and we received 3 1/4″ of rain. Woohoo! We sooooo needed that. Today, we were supposed to get rain all morning. I was hoping for it! No such luck now. But at least the high is only going to be 86.

I took the dogs in for a trim and a wash yesterday. I do it about once every two-three months, comb them out daily and wash them in between groomings. But the guy took off nearly all their fur! I told him to leave their coats long. Okay, just trim their feet and faces, belly, behind. They haven’t had short fur like that since they were puppies and hadn’t grown it out yet. *sigh* But the good news is that they’re soft, fluffy, like a couple of little lambs and their fur will grow out for winter. Hopefully.

I am nearly 1/4 of the way done on Wolf on the Prowl. I’ll have the word count today. And I’m still working on Bear of a Halloween. 🙂 So all great news!

I had my flu shot. They always ask if I want the powerful one. Of course. Maybe, it will help. Other than a sore arm, I didn’t have the chills and fever like I did last year.

The Sunflower Fairy

Yeah, I know, you think the birds drop the seeds and voila, there’s a new sunflower, but when you’re not looking, the sunflower fairy comes and plants her garden wherever she pleases.

I’m still working on Bear of a Halloween, but I’ve got to switch to the red wolf story and get it started. So this morning at 4:30, I was lying in bed and seeing the scene unfold before my eyes. Now I need to write it down in a hurry before baby gets here and I forget the whole thing.

Still Working on Halloween Novel

I didn’t get my word count yesterday, but it was all good. I planned to finish it when I got home last night, but lo and behold, my son was at my daughter and SIL’s house when I went to have dinner with them. It was a surprise. I was thrilled. Needless to say, we had a ball last night. He came in from a work conference in Cleveland from Japan and made a few days stop with us.

The other good news is we got a 1/4″ of rain and a cool down and ended up being able to sit on the patio last night while the wind and rain and lightning entertained us. So much fun.

The bad news is I have a jury summons. Ugh. So I’m hoping I’m not selected so I can spend time with my son before he returns to Japan. I haven’t seen him in two years.

Fairy and Her Feline Friends

Having fun with some whimsical art.

Okay, I was out working this morning on cutting back some volunteer hollies, and it isn’t too bad out, but it’s going to get bad again, of course. So what’s new? I wanted to stay out all morning and wor, but I really need to keep working on the bear story. I had printed out Bear of a Halloween and was making edits to it. As I write, I get new ideas and need to incorporate those with earlier parts of the story, so that’s what I’m doing now.

I’m off to work on the book. It’s up to 49K, hope to make it 51K or more today.

His Wild Highland Lass

This was a novella in an anthology and then I was able to get my rights back and publish it. But then I decided to redo the cover once again and heavily revised it, added to it, and republished it.

Now I’m back to working on Bear of a Halloween full time. I added 3,000 words to it last night. Next up is the DEA red wolf book.

I’ve had a cough and loss of voice since February so when I saw the doctor, she said to take Clariton twice a day and gave me a prescription for a steroid inhaler. Steroids have such a bad connotation, but miraculously, they can help sometimes. I had this same stuff really bad a couple of years ago and twice they recommended giving me a steroid shot, but the first time I declined. The second time, I went for it, just had to, and it really, really cleared everything up. My voice is back to normal today after croaking out words for months, and I’ve only used the inhaler 3 times. I didn’t think I’d ever get my voice back. I just hope when I stop using the inhaler, I will still have my voice back!

I’m off to put down some bark mulch and then get to work writing.

We were supposed to get some rain last night–heavy thunderstorms. 87%. Yay! Nothing happened. Sigh.

Claiming the White Bear

Updated the cover.

I’m nearly done with His Wild Highland Lass proofing. I only have 3 more chapters to read and the epilogue before I have to go to the dentist. I hate going to the dentist. But the alternative is worse.

An article written about the lack of rain we’ve had. Thanks for nothing, Harold: Houston continues longest streak of rain-free days on record It’s been bad. I’ve been pulling up more dead shrubs and the triple digit figures continue into infinity with no rain in sight. It’s terrible when you’re hoping for a hurricane to have relief from the drought and heat!
