If Only…

Our turkey was this pretty. I can smell it though–I make them several times a year because they’re good for us. I get the turkey breast and roast it.

Okay, I’m off to work on Wolf on the Prowl and I got edits for Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply, a reissue, due Dec 5th.

I’m nearly at 95K on Wolf on the Prowl. I’m still trying to finish it up. The roofer is also coming to look at my new water leaks today. Hoping they will put something up temporarily because we have rain coming Monday and the weekend after Thanksgiving and they won’t be here to roof until that following Tuesday, though it’s supposed to rain then too. *sigh*

I was playing around with dramatizing a photo I had taken at the International Wolf Center of Aidan, King of the Mountain, the alpha pack leader at the time.

Still working on Wolf on the Prowl. Still trying to get it done. Maybe it will be by this weekend, which was my goal.

Life is an Illusion

Playing around with one of the pictures I took years ago at Disney World.

Off to work before little one arrives! I’m making corned beef for the Girl Scouts Friendsgiving, my granddaughter’s choice. So I showed her how I cook it, let her add the water and spices and corned beef, and then I’ll start cooking it in a little bit in the slow cooker all day.

Heater Disconnected from Exhaust Pipe

Thankfully, I haven’t used the heater this season. But I did use it for two seasons. Luckily I didn’t use it for long because most of the time our winters are mild, and they had a lot of venting in the attic. BUT!!!!!!!!!!

What makes me so mad about it is that the guys that replaced the AC coils in 2021 did that! They hit it so bad, that the guys here just doing a safety check have worked hours on getting it right. I’m just glad I called them to check on things. Also, some gasket has sealant and he said that it’s better to have metal to metal because that sealant cracks.

Anyway, as soon as they leave, I have to get a turkey and ham before they’re all sold out and I have to pick up my granddaughter at school!

I feel like a wet wolf…

I caught a bunch of rain in my attic, but when I got up at 5 this morning, I hear drip, drip, drip in my bedroom closet, and a big wet spot under a light fixture where the water is coming from. This is the first time I’ve had water in there. It’s always been in the laundry room. So I put a bucket under it and head back up to the attic. The decking is all wet, the other bucket is about a 1/4 of the way full of water, but the decking should be dry. New place where it’s dripping. Ugh. Dash down the ladder, get another bucket, put it in a different spot, still with the other up there, and hope that will catch it all. We have rain until Tuesday.

My roof isn’t scheduled to be replaced until November 28th. Sigh.

My computer keeps crashing today. I’ve restarted it four times in 15 minutes. It’s going to be one of those days!

Off to work before baby gets here.

Happy Veteran’s Day!

Going to lunch at Olive Gardens with the family for Veteran’s Day. Usually they’re working and I was going to go with my son-in-law and my grandson because my granddaughter and daughter were going Girl Scout camping again, but it’s cold and supposed to rain all weekend so they rescheduled. So the family will go together! That will be fun.

We had 2 1/2 inches of rain, yay!! And I love the cooler weather. I thought of pulling up some of my tomato plants but they have so many tomatoes on them I don’t have the heart to do it. lol

Okay, off to work on the story! I’m rereading it to see where my plot holes are and what I need to add to it.

The One that Got Away

This big old turkey is actually one at the Omaha wildlife refuge so no eating him, and boy, if he was smart enough to know it, is he one lucky duck. Or, turkey!

I’m off to try and write today. I didn’t get anything done with little one here yesterday. And tomorrow, I am going to the Veteran’s Day breakfast at my granddaughter’s school. They have one at my grandson’s preschool too, but they’re at the same time. He probably wouldn’t remember me going to it as well as she would. Her last year there, 4th grade, he’ll be in kindergarten at the same time as her, and I can have breakfast with both! If they still are doing it.

Okay, off to take the dogs out and feed the birds.

Turkey Time!

It’s almost time for turkeys, gobble-gobble. I can’t believe it’s only 16 days until turkey time!

I didn’t have much time to write on the book yesterday. I need to finish it up. After so few hours to sleep and all the running I did with my granddaughter, my brain was fried. But my granddaughter and I had fun shopping, having lunch out, and you know the expression, “shop until you drop?” Well, she was sound asleep as soon as I drove home from the mall. lol. We were looking for a birthday card for my daughter and didn’t find one. We always celebrate her birthday over Thanksgiving since it’s just the following week.

It’s going to be a high of 85 today, and then tomorrow, 78, so looking forward to it being a little cooler.

I’m off to get ready for little one. We’ve been doing cut and paste preschool puzzles. He’s only 2 and 1/2 but kids are never to young to learn things. Like older folks are never too old to learn new things! Labels for ages are meant to be proven wrong.

Photo Transformation

These little guys looked like they were in such an awful landscape so I freed them with some photo work.

I have my granddaughter today, had her overnight and she had a night terror at 3 and after talking to her about how our brain works and sifts through things we’ve watched, or read, or lived and then mixes everything up, it’s just normal, she finally went to asleep. But then I was awake until she got up at 6. ugh. lol

So we’re off on our all-day adventure, cinnamon rolls and a turtle feeding pond walk first thing, a trip to the mall, and lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. And then maybe a nap for me! lol

The Stork and the Pelican

Doesn’t that sound like it could be a children’s story? I took the photo of the two feathered buddies in Hawaii when I was there for my son’s wedding.

Okay, toddler is coming, granddaughter is staying overnight because she has off tomorrow and so she’ll be here for the day on Tuesday. Schools are closed for voting.

I managed to get another 5,000 words on Wolf on the Prowl, trying to come up with the ending and tie up any loose ends. So I can’t wait! But I probably won’t have it done until the weekend, fingers crossed.
