We went over to her house when her electric came on and ours was still out. This is one of her cute cats. Not a care in the world while we were all suffering without power. Our power went off twice briefly yesterday and I’m sure we all have PTSD, worried it won’t come back on.
I have both the grands today and we’re going to the grocery store to get a little food. Just enough to keep us going for the day–in case the electric goes out again.

We’re under boil water advisory and I ended up getting a terrible head cold, probably from all the stress, but we have power!!! We were finally able to stay with a family Friday night after they got their electric back on in the morning. We were so thankful to stay there and have some normalcy. Otherwise, we were constantly trying to go places to get cool and it’s very stressful. We got power back at 5 pm Saturday night.
She was my buddy at their house, the sweetest dog. 🙂
I actually slept 10 hours, never can do that unless I’m sick and often not even then, took the dogs out at 6 am and we all went back to bed. I slept for another 3 hours. Took them out, fed them, and I’m returning to bed. I’m hoping to knock this cold out pronto! Now that we have power, kids will be back to work and I’ll have both the grands tomorrow, which means no rest.
I imagine there will be a run on the grocery stores now in the area. All I want is corn on the cob and butter. But the way I feel right now, I’m not going anywhere.
Hope everyone gets power soon. We were so appreciative of the family who took us in that one night. She’s my son-in-law’s coworker. We were always hopeful we would get power back, but until it happens, you’re so unsure.
I did manage to turn The Eye of the Wolf in to my editor and Wolf Bound over to my beta readers. Yay!!!

Went to a friend’s house and was taking pictures of her 2 cats. This one is really shy but she was the best little model.
Well, no WiFi and no electricity, hard to get anything done beside dealing with the horrendous heat and having 2 little kids and 4 dogs to take care of between us. So I stayed with her for about 4 hours to proof a book I need to turn in, while the kids and grandkids and her daughter went to the Community Fieldhouse to play and my computer was finally charged up. Then all of a sudden, severe thunderstorms came into the area and lightning hit a transformer and knocked it out. There went her electricity. About 6 hours later, she had it back though. We still haven’t had any since Monday at 8:00-8:30 am.
So we stayed at another friend’s house who got their electric back at 5:30 in the morning yesterday. We brought roasted chicken from the deli and ate dinner with them. I thought I would be able to sleep. It was nice and comfortable, but I coughed all night long. I’ve come down with another cold–probably because of the cold/heat/lack of sleep. So frustrating.
They have no idea when our service might be back up but they’re saying it might be as late as July 19.
I’m off here, to have breakfast with everyone and then we’re going to be out the door trying to figure out how to deal with the heat some more.
