When Tom Cat doesn't know what to do with Mouse.
Especially when this mouse is a BIG mouse. Or maybe a rat. The rats we have out here look like this.
I won another art contest at Oscraps! 🙂 I’m working on some more–having fun. So yesterday we had a blast. I managed a little editing on Wolf on the Wild Side. Today, I’m working on more editing. The book is “done” but still trying to reach word count and doing more editing, fleshing out scenes, etc. Only 1400 words until word count. I really like it when I have the book written from beginning to end and really this is the most fun part.
My next deadline book is the Highland wolf one, so I need to write on that. I also want to do a million others. Of course. lol
I’m still working on the new print cover for Vexing the Highlander, the novella, so I’ll have that done today. I always feel more self-actualized (a term I learned in psychology class)–when I accomplish something. Like cutting down the holly tree volunteers that were shading out a beautiful rosebush and sunshine ligustrum that needed more sun to really grow. Isn’t that always the way though? You plant something, and it barely grows. You plant some more things and then voila, the plant that would barely grow is taking over and so is everything else and on top of that, volunteer plants have decided to join the crowd.
I love plants, so I really don’t like to have to cut any down. I did just cut the lower branches off the one holly and left the top to continue to grow upward. But I had some pine trees that grew from seeds too right near it, so they’ll all be competing with one another soon also.
It’s a good thing they’re not surrounded by sharks. I did have a hammerhead in there, but I wanted a more serene scene. lol
I’m off to work with my granddaughter some more. We’ve been doing worksheets, painting sun catchers, and coloring printable pages for coloring. We made cinnamon rolls for breakfast, fed the birds, and we’re about to do dancercizing next. When my daughter arrives to take her home, we do Pilates, but that means juggling the baby too. Sometimes he’s fine, but last time I ended up trying to do them with him in my arms on my lap. lol
I was trying to figure out my timeline again on my book, so think I have it all figured out and I’m at 75K. Need 80K for minimum. Almost there! I should have word count by Thursday.
It’s going to be a wild day today is all I can say. I was out pulling up spent sunflowers and got the trash out. I have a million things to do.
When I took Tanner in for his shots, the vet recommends I brush my dogs’ teeth. Well, that’s easier said than done!!! Yes, he eats hard food. Yes, he chews on bones. Yes, he crunches on hard biscuits. It doesn’t matter!
So there’s something I can add to the water that I’m going to try that’s supposed to help with the tartar build up. And he has one ear with too much hair in it. Tanner is a hairy dog. What can I say? His black fur is so thick it’s wonderful, but it’s also a job to comb through all the way to the roots, though I spend a couple of hours on him every day. I looked at his ear, but I couldn’t see what she was talking about. He’ll go to the groomers this weekend and I’ll ask them to do it. At least with trying to brush his teeth, he likes the baking soda toothpaste. And when Max came up to get his brushing–he has to do everything that Tanner does, Tanner was right back up there wanting me to brush his teeth again. Well, maybe not brush them, but give him some more of that toothpaste. Silly dog.
Little one will be here any second, so I need to wrap this up. I have to go to the grocery store this morning or we won’t have anything for lunch or dinner.
So I was working on writing my word count for White Wolf yesterday. I didn’t get any done yesterday, spending the whole day working on the cougar novella–5,000 words. It’s turning into a short novel. I still need more scenes. *sigh*
But I did add a prologue to White Wolf first thing this morning.
I need to pick up little one in a while. It’s nice and warm today, so I’ve been out doing some weeding. I need better tools that make it easier to weed!
Okay, I’m off to get back to cougar. I hope to finish it today, as far as writing the rest of the scenes. I spent a lot of yesterday editing it also. Then I’ll set it aside to try and figure where to go with white wolf and on the weekend try to finish reading white cougar one last time.
Then I’ll begin working on You Had Me at Cougar in the backdrop while finishing up white wolf. I only need 10,000 words on white wolf.
I love it when fans send me pictures of my books with their precious pets. Isn’t Cassie adorable? I had to share.
We had a big storm last night and so this morning I was picking up about 20 lbs worth of tree branches and twigs. A circle of 4 of the neighbors have old growth forest, so it looks like we are the only ones getting all the downed branches! Pine tree branches, not sure what the others are, but any big wind and they’re all over the back and front yards. And I have tons of pine needles on my driveway that I still need to gather up to use as mulch on my flowerbeds.
Tanner was barking like crazy, warning me there were all kinds of trespassers. Max wanted on my lap for protection.
Okay, so I’m still behind on Red Wolf. One of my friends said I need to give myself a break. But deadlines, deadlines. I’m also working on updating two fantasy books with new covers and need to turn Vampire Redemption into a print book along with the two fantasy books. This is all good for me. It takes my mind off of not getting anywhere with the current work-in-progress and all the bad news. I keep checking not wanting to, but hoping there’s some good news out there.
It’s time to get to work. Have a great day and stay safe!
On the Jaguar/Lion promo photo, I used Oscraps elements from a Safari one, though, I might have picked up the jaguar from another. In any event, do you notice my artist style? Nope? Right! I am eclectic. Which means I’m still trying to figure it out, but I love trying new things. Constantly.
I’d love to be able to take my own pictures and turn them into watercolor scraps too. Anyway, the cat was from Pixabay, and so were the two texture layers I used, one of a galaxy, and one of just a gold texture. I have TONS of photos I’ve taken, so that is one quest I have. Among MILLIONS of others.
In the meantime, it’s back to proofing the book. I only managed to get 4 chapters read yesterday, baby here until late, and I just couldn’t get anything done.
Have a great day!!! I’m off to finish proofing the book no matter what, sending it to beta readers and starting on the Red Wolf novella. Just got a bear order for Germany too. Have fun!!!
