Bird Watching & Human Watching & More Giveaways!

sparrows 2 (640x427)

Baby sparrows have been sitting on my windowsill and they peer in the kitchen window at me when I grab some more green tea. Normally, the sparrows take flight if they see me.  But I had just put out seed, and a bunch of birds were feeding. The cardinal always captures my interest.

But then all of a sudden, the birds all flew off. I thought I had spooked them, as often I do. But it wasn’t me this time, because the birds all landed on the shrubs, or at least the younger sparrows, and I took pictures.

This was what spooked them.

And so I was able to take a lot of pictures of the sparrows sitting atop the hedge right outside my window. Even the cardinal drew closer and was sitting atop a chair. But unfortunately, my focus ended up being on something else, and he’s all blurred. Which was a disappointment because he was so close, and watching me.

And so that’s my moment of getting a cup of green tea while the world around me is alive and well.

And a lovely review for Her Highland Hero!

Description:

Lady Isobel is a Norman laird’s daughter, living near the Scots border where her father, Lord Pembroke, is trying to keep the peace. But her mother was a Highlander and the man Isobel loves most of all is Laird Marcus McEwan, who has been bringing news of her mother’s people for years. But now Isobel’s father wishes her wed to an English nobleman, who will carry on his title. Isobel will wed no other man but her heart’s desire—and that is one braw Highlander from her mother’s homeland.
Laird Marcus McEwan has loved the feisty lass forever. For years, Marcus has tried to convince Lord Pembroke to allow him to wed his daughter. But the Norman lord will not allow it. Then ambushes and murders make it too dangerous for Marcus to reach a peaceful resolution.
Nothing goes as planned and keeping the lass for his own is fraught with danger, as they try to determine who was behind the killings. Isobel and Marcus will do everything in their power to ensure they are together as they have always vowed they would be.

My Thoughts:
Marcus and Isobel want to be together, but there are many forces keeping them apart. Isobel’s father wants to marry someone else, Marcus is nearly murdered, and there are dangerous secrets. I enjoyed this story, especially the relationship between Marcus and Isobel. Marcus will do anything to keep his Isobel safe. I recommend this for anyone who likes their romance with a good dose of Highlander.

I absolutely can’t believe it’s already Friday! How in the world did that happen? Still working on 10 bears. It went up one. and Call of the Cougar. But today, I’m re-reading A Silver Wolf Christmas to see if it’s ready. 🙂

And errands. Hate errands. They take so much of the day. And we had RAIN! And lots of it. We really desperately needed it. More today and the next few days. Yes!

Happy TGIF!!!

  1. I haven’t read any of your vampire stories yet. You are a new author for me. I so enjoyed reading Silence of the Wolf that I have added Savage Hunger to my TBR pile and I plan to pick up many more of your books too!

    • Thank you so much, Christine! I had a blast writing Silence of the Wolf. Everyone loves the Silver wolf pack! And the jaguars have been really popular. So have the cougars. Need to finish the next book! But I also have 3 vampire books I’m writing that are sequels to ones out. *sigh* Never enough time! 🙂 <3

  2. i just love your books so i try to read them all im not sure if this how i enter in the giveway on here if not sorry

  3. Your title caught my eye, especially the human watching. I believe it was some critter that was out of focus in your picture that was watching you. My Mom was one of five sisters that loved to bird watch, but one of those sisters liked to human/people watch also, and I learned from her I guess. She was a very entertaining lady. Instead of being bored waiting somewhere, she watched other people and tried to guess things about them. Where they were from or going, what they did, etc. When I am watching birds or animals, I think it fun to guess what they might be thinking/saying to each other. I crack myself up sometimes lol. I’m sure eager for the book set to get here. Wish the rainy days would hang around until then so I could have a good long read on it. Cheers

    • I haven’t looked this morning, but we have a big chance of rain for several days. Hope it really happens. My dad used to watch people while my mom would shop. He would tell us all kinds of things. My daughter and I were waited on by a clerk at a fabric store that was going out of business and we observed several things–I noticed the skull on her shirt and the different color hair. We both noticed all the piercings and her black nails. I saw the hospital band that said she’d been in the hospital. My daughter noticed the cuttings she’d made on her arms. And something else, can’t remember. But it was interesting to see what each of us saw and how we didn’t notice the same things, but together we had come up with a story. 🙂

I’m sure something out of focus was human watching. 🙂 Me. And I caught it on camera, only it’s in that cool, hazy, paranormal fuzz, so no telling. But we can guess and make up stories, and that’s just as much fun! 🙂

I was doing the same thing as you when I saw the cardinal fighting with the sparrow. The sparrow didn’t leave either. And the cardinal, after the ruckus, turned his back on the sparrow. It was an interesting display of alphaness, neither winning, neither losing. And that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

  4. Terry, I have not read any of your vampire novels (hiding my head in shame). My TBR pile is totally out of hand now. I have loved vampires since I first started reading Maggie Shayne’s Wings of the Night series, waaaay back when it first came out. You might say I devoured every one of them. Although I do love all the other paranormal creatures, vampires will always be first in my heart. That being said, I obviously just have to read one.

  5. You know I love your books. Will read anything highlanders, shifters, (highlander shifters), vampires… in your hands all good.

  6. I love watching the birds. We had one robin that I saw every year for probably eight years. My biggest problem comes from the Carolina wrens that nest in my hanging baskets on my front porch! How am I supposed to water the plants and not the nest?

And I am a people watcher. Ever watch people as they go through the drive thru of a fast food joint? OMG, funny! They talk into the that machine and point, etc. You can tell exactly what they are saying. “No, the little one. No that one – not that one!” Folks, they can’t see you!

The very best of luck on this boxed set! Sounds like a fun read!

    • That is too funny about your Carolina wrens. The perfecting nesting spot for them. LOL That’s cute. And I love it on the fast food joint. Now that’s funny! Thanks for sharing!!

  7. Thank you so much Terry! I am caught up and ready for some good reading while I wait on that set to arrive. I was doing a second reading of your first wolf story, it is still good. lol You’re the greatest! Tom

    • You’re so welcome, Tom! I sent you an email with the code for the book. Enjoy! And too funny about my first wolf book. Of course it’s still good. LOL 🙂 Love it!
