So it’s a wild hectic day with both kids today, but the wild hecticness started out with the dogs first thing.
I’m going to take them to the grocery store and drop off stuff at Goodwill. I needed to do some cleaning out of stuff that I NEVER use and don’t intend to so out it goes. I do this periodically, but I’ve been digging a little deeper. 🙂 Feels good.
We had a wild storm last night and ended up with 4″ of rain, yay! I put up a replacement bird feeder for the one that was looking in bad shape after 8 years of hanging out in the weather–sun, heat, cold. The squirrels kept knocking it down or tipping all the contents over. So far, this one–all the birds love–the doves, cardinals, blue jays, and mockingbirds have already feasted from it. It also has a plastic umbrella to help keep the rain off and drain holes. The squirrels haven’t climbed into it, but have fed from it and haven’t been able to tip it over or sit inside of it. Sooooo, looks like it’s going to be a good replacement. I might get another to replace another bird feeder that doesn’t drain and it’s always a mess. It’s about 10 years old.
Had a lovely birthday dinner and I’m off to get to work on the book. I managed 3,000 and have to do that again today before I’ve got the kids again all week long. But we’re having a great time. Just wish I could stop coughing all night and half the day.

I’ve been working on trimming back hedges and picking ripe tomatoes. But it’s time to sit butt in chair and write my heart out. Some days I’ve managed a 1,000 words, but that’s not enough. I need 2,000 a day. So hoping to at least get my 2,000 today, really hoping for 3. And the same for tomorrow. Dinner with the gang to celebrate my birthday, otherwise it’s nonstop writing…hopefully. It just depends if I can get enough momentum on the story.

I took the photo of the wolves at the International Wolf Center in Ely, MN. Luna, the black wolf was the only female at the time and she was the alpha. Boltz was acting like an omega wolf the last time I was up there.
Another wild day ahead of us. I coughed all night, so after our swim and lunch and I’m going to try to force myself to take a nap. I just need more sleep but as soon as I lay down, or even just during the day, I can’t stop coughing.
I had never seen flamingos and their eggs or little ones so it was fun to see them at the San Diego Zoo. The roses are from my garden.
I’m off to work a little before my granddaughter arrives. I did manage to get a 1,000 words last night, no sleep again because of all the coughing. I’ll be glad when I can get rid of this cold.
We’re off to dance, leftovers for lunch, more school work–which is all fun. We were finding everything that magnets could attach to, properties of objects, differences and sameness, read another book, created a book mark, and she started writing her own story. Felt what it would be like to hold an ice cube, watched ice cubes melt, and an egg white turn white, then ate the egg, of course. They talked about adding chocolate to milk and heating it, and adding chocolate to milk and freezing it–hot cocoa and chocolate ice cream. She wanted to do both. Grandma didn’t have the chocolate, but we could try at some other time.
And then we’ll make a quick pool trip before her mom comes for her. We did trim bushes, tomato plants, picked tomatoes, raked up the clippings, added it to the compost pile, watered, cleaned windows and outdoor tables, so we did good! Today, if we have time, we’re dusting. 🙂
Next week, she’ll be here even longer each day, but I do need to get some of my writing done.
