Flamingo and Her Egg

I had never seen flamingos and their eggs or little ones so it was fun to see them at the San Diego Zoo. The roses are from my garden.

I’m off to work a little before my granddaughter arrives. I did manage to get a 1,000 words last night, no sleep again because of all the coughing. I’ll be glad when I can get rid of this cold.

We’re off to dance, leftovers for lunch, more school work–which is all fun. We were finding everything that magnets could attach to, properties of objects, differences and sameness, read another book, created a book mark, and she started writing her own story. Felt what it would be like to hold an ice cube, watched ice cubes melt, and an egg white turn white, then ate the egg, of course. They talked about adding chocolate to milk and heating it, and adding chocolate to milk and freezing it–hot cocoa and chocolate ice cream. She wanted to do both. Grandma didn’t have the chocolate, but we could try at some other time.

And then we’ll make a quick pool trip before her mom comes for her. We did trim bushes, tomato plants, picked tomatoes, raked up the clippings, added it to the compost pile, watered, cleaned windows and outdoor tables, so we did good! Today, if we have time, we’re dusting. 🙂

Next week, she’ll be here even longer each day, but I do need to get some of my writing done.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Flamingo Love–Art Challenge

In this art challenge, we were supposed to have scribbles that followed a diagonal line and text that did too. Blocks of text also. And repetitive photos with different blend modes. I chose to do mine with flamingos because they mate for life and used a love theme. The two major words say crush and hug. And I was attempting an X–the symbol for kiss on mine with the diagonal text and scribbles. I took the photo of the flamingos at the San Diego Zoo. They were standing on their nests.

Little one is here and so I’m trying to get breakfast made and feed the birds, etc. The temperature dropped from 83 to 47 today. It will only get to 51 today. Weirder weather, I tell you. 🙂 The norm will no longer be the norm, I’m afraid.

Have a super, lovely day!

Flamingo Art

I don’t know what happened to yesterday. I meant to blog first thing, but by about 11, I realized I hadn’t! These are some photo art I did of a bunch of flamingos that were sitting on nests at the San Diego Zoo. I wanted to have just the one standing in front with the egg, and the 2 stretching out to each other, sitting on nests, but there’s another on a nest in between the one standing and the one sitting, so I had to leave that one in. Still, I love the action in the photo.

I wrote 6,000 words yesterday: 3,000 on the new Wolff Bros story (just started), 2,000 on You Had Me at Cougar (at 12K now), and 1000 on Cougar Halloween Trouble (novella for Halloween, just started).

If I get 3,000 a day on Wolff Bros, I hope to write some on one of the cougars and keep them going. I’m hoping to have You Had Me at Cougar out by November, and Cougar Halloween out for Halloween, but we’ll have to see. I still think I have to write a Dreaming of the Wolf novella.

In the meantime, I’m off to play with my daughter and granddaughter. My daughter works longer hours during the week when school is out and then she’s off on Fridays, so we try to get together and have some fun. That means for me, I have to work on the stories before she comes over about 8:30.

It’s hot–yesterday managed 105 heat index and it’s not cooling down anytime soon!

Have a great and safe day!!!

Do You Ever Just… Look Around You?

Dark skys bare trees silhouetted (640x427) (2)

I thought this was an interesting view of the storm clouds highlighting the bare branches of winter.

I was reading tips on photography and one of the things that was said was to take unusual views of an object, like instead of taking a picture looking down at a flower, take one from the side. Or from beneath it. I thought that was neat. For flowers, add some water droplets for interest. Maybe don’t take a picture of the whole object, but a special part of it.  I noticed on model photos that I want to use for my book covers, a lot of them have parts of the people cut off. It’s kind of odd. But maybe it’s more dramatic that way in some instances. Not all. I have some lovely pictures of the whole model for some of my covers.

And then if I want to cut off heads, or other body parts, I can. 🙂

Zoo with coyotes barking 074 (427x640)I cut off a lot of bird parts here. *sigh* But I did catch 7 whole flamingos and the reflection of 4 of them in the water. 🙂

Zoo with coyotes barking 031 (427x640)Okay, so the birds would NOT cooperate. It’s not the photographers fault!

Zoo with coyotes barking 025 (640x427)

Hey, it is a cool shot of flamingo reflections right? So sometimes head shots just aren’t important!

Off to write! Have a wonderful TGIF!!!
