Swans a Swimming

Swans and their reflections on the pond. I took the photo at the Houston Zoo and then added Daily Texture textures.

I didn’t get a lot done yesterday. I did ship off a bear and 2 books. I spent the whole day working on the Best of Both Wolves. I reached the end and started over again, so I reached chapter 12 last night, which isn’t too bad, considering this should be the last time.

l was hoping I’d get this done this weekend, still hoping for that. It all depends if the baby ever comes. lol. But I’m working on the edits constantly, so hopefully!

In the meantime, still waiting on the baby.

We had wild storms yesterday, but for today, it looks like it’s tapering off. And we had a cool down, so our high is only going to be 66. I think some sunflowers are coming up, and maybe a bell pepper plant!

It’s really chilly this morning. Okay, no baby yet, off to get going on the book edits again. Hope to get to at least to ch 20 today.

Have a great day! The dogs and birds are waiting on breakfast!!

Finding Colors in the World

Riverwalk in San Antonio–Added Oil Texture in Photoshop, but what I loved about the scene when I took the picture was the reflection of the colorful umbrellas in the water.

It cooled down!!! It was 78 yesterday morning, and around 85 during the day, finally ending up at 91, but I spent most of the day running errands and then pulling grass and weeds out of my flowerbeds. I did get my word count.

But this is the thing. Bark mulch is great because it reduces water evaporation, shades the roots of the plants, in this heat, that’s great, and helps to shade out weeds and grass. It also breaks down and makes great compost for the plants you planted there.

I. Think.

I mean, I go out there and I just weeded 4 of the 7 flowerbeds and there are more weeds and grass before I can get to the others! But I will say where I have deeper bark mulch, the weeds/grass are/is easier to pull up. Where I didn’t have much mulch, I had to get a shovel out to dig up the grass. It’s never ending. It’s like dusting. If I dust, it will come right back. And I don’t even have to be gone long for it to start all over again. lol

It’s toddler time. Potty training. We are getting the hang of it. I. Think.

Have really terrific day!! I’m off to…get into something!

San Antonio–The Riverwalk

Reflections of colorful umbrellas in the river, honeybee on flowers, Duck and her ducklings, Baby seeing the city view

Having internet issues this morning. And I can’t type. lol

So, I haven’t posted a blog in a while, and baby was the reason! My daughter was at a school nutrition conference, she was a speaker for a couple of classes, and I took care of baby. Which meant getting absolutely NO time to write or blog or anything. BUT, baby and I walked along the Riverwalk in San Antonio for 4+ hours every day. Four hours in the morning, and she slept for two, and another hour and a half in the evening when we went out with Momma to eat dinner. And I took a lot of fun pictures. And baby and I had fun too. But forget about getting a good night’s sleep either. lol

Glad to be home, but Momma and Daddy want me to babysit for their anniversary on Saturday, so baby will be here again. Getting edits done on SEAL Wolf Surrender so I can turn in the book today. We got in yesterday and I worked on 3 bears, heads are on! Still need ears and noses.

Have a super, duper day!!!

Okay, I’m off to write. I’m nearly ready to publish Double Cougar Trouble. Loving the White Bear is over halfway done, and I’ve got to work on Between a Wolf and a Hard Place!

That’s my fun.

Hope you are finding some fun too!

Seeing the reflection of the hills and mountains in the water makes it doubly pretty. With the heat in Texas bearing down, I love to look back on pictures of cooler places!

It was really cold when I was shooting all these pictures on the St. Croix, but I stayed out on the deck of the paddle wheeler the whole trip to take them. It was well worth it!

Photographing Subjects–I Can’t Decide

Some photographers are really excellent landscape photographers, or they do fantastic portraits, or animal shots, or macro shots, or…well, the list goes on. And then there’s me.

Like reading, like writing, like photographing, I love everything. I love to see the beauty in all photos no matter what subject a particular photographer loves to create. I can’t draw worth a darn, but when I played around with it, landscapes were my thing.

Crathes Castle Trees like soldiers standing tall and straight–a narrow blanket of golden leaves leaving a marching trail beneath them–shot from Crathes Castle upper floor window

But in photography, I love it all. The same with writing. I love to create Highland medieval romances, and English medieval romances, and wolf, jaguar, cougar and bear shifter romances, and psychic romances, and vampire romances, and romantic suspenses, as long as they have romance, mystery, intrigue, adventure, humor, and most have a body count.

My editor on my wolf stories said of my second book, “Your body count has gone way up.” That was my most successful book for a long time. lol

In my third book, I tried to be nice. Fewer dead bodies. Wasn’t half as successful. 🙂

But I love doing a mix of things. I couldn’t imagine not trying to capture a bee on a flower or a water droplet on a rose petal or a line of thunderclouds or a cougar close up or the vines growing on a castle wall or the North Sea pounding at the shore line beneath a Scottish castle or fall colors anywhere (because we don’t have much of it here), if I have the chance to do it.

I love to capture life as I see it both in my writing and my photography, and so I guess that makes me eclectic. Maybe eccentric. But happy too.

Highland cow river (640x480)

Shaggy Highland Cow and Fall colors reflected in the glassy river

This scene with the black and white cows could be from anywhere, except for the ancient stone wall in front. Can you imagine the Highlanders who built this wall so many eons ago? Why they built it in the first place? What they were protecting? I loved the cows, the hint of color in the foggy forest, but the ancient wall covered with moss and lichen the most. I love history and for writing and reading, I love it the most also.

I started writing jaguar Christmas, and I have the first 1,000 words! 79,000 to go! 🙂

Have a great day!

Shadows and Reflections

Shadow on Hill and Reflection in Water

Shadow on Hill and Reflection in Water

Shadows and Reflections on Water

Shadows and Reflections on Water

When I was in Scotland, I took hundreds of pictures, until my battery died, and I was so disappointed. I couldn’t take pictures again until after we returned from an island, and I never had pictures of the island or the ruins we saw there. Ugh.

But I’ve never shared tons of these pictures because I had so many, shared lots, and then that was it. So as I was looking over some of them, I found some interesting shots.

These are shadows reflected on the hills from another hill, and both the hills and shadows reflected in the water. The water is so glass like, it’s hard to tell in the bottom shot that it was actually a reflection and not just ground.

But aren’t they beautiful?

I thought they turned out nicely, considering we were in motion at the time. 🙂

I love water, so take lots of pictures of water. I also love hills and mountains and trees. Since Scotland has it all, I had fun!

But I also want to make my stories as accurate as possible. One of the things I wanted to see was trees for wolves to run in. But so much of the landscape is uninhabited, that they could really run all over the place and never be seen. 🙂 <3

Ever See a White Bison?

Did you know that bison and buffalo are not the same critter? Settlers mistakenly called bison buffalo, but they technically live in Africa and Asia, whereas bison are in North America. Bison have the huge shoulder hump and massive heads. They even have a few bison in Poland. They are from the same family–the buffalo and bison, but they are two distinct animals.

Here are some pictures of the white bison a couple of years ago, and then this year, but probably last year, she had a baby, which we didn’t know about. It was really fun to see two of them this time.

By himself, the juvenile is white, but standing next to his parent, he’s browner, but still much whiter than the brown bison.

My son was driving and the bison were on his side of the car, so he took the pictures. He wanted to get a cool picture of just the white bison’s reflection. This was what I loved so much when we saw them this time. All the animals, elk included, were trying to beat the heat, either by staying in the shade, or wading in the water.  The years before, it was Thanksgiving and the ponds were frozen. 🙂 No need to beat the heat!

Two Tired Baby Bison

Two Tired Baby Bison Calves

Did I mention that when I got home, my external hard drive is giving me an error message and I can’t access it? Grrr.

I can still access it on my laptop, so the cords and such are working. My son and my SIL tried to figure it out, but no success. I save all my stories on it because my computer has crashed so many times. I really can’t afford not to be able to use it. 🙁

So then I loved my son’s water container for his dog. And I got one for mine. They loved it at his house and he doesn’t have to refill it all the time. So I filled mine up with water, and it started to fill up the dish, and fill it, and fill it, and wait, it’s going to breach the top any second now. Puppies are waiting in heady anticipation. They love the water from those. They are excited. But like me, waiting for it to quit filling up. I had to quickly tilt it back and stop the water from filling up and try to tip it back into the tank, only it began pouring all over the floor. So then I was running the tank into the kitchen to let the water out there, puppies racing with me–their mommy is always so much fun–until I could figure out what I had done wrong. Not turned it enough in the seat.

I do things like this just to entertain you, you know. Just in case your life is boring.

Oh, and yesterday, Max was thwarted from going to the bathroom…by this.

Toad sitting on sidewalk

Toad sitting on sidewalk

Tanner raced over him to get to the grass, never seeing him. Max saw him and stopped dead in his tracks, tried to move around him, then backed up, and did the same. I finally had to carry him over the toad. Max, thwarted by a toad.

Have a great day!!! Back to working on Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing!
