Only the Shadow Knows

evil squirrel has got my food (640x611)The evil squirrel has got my food.~~Sparrow

Mine! All mine!!!~~Juvenile squirrel

Focusing was a challenge. I was trying to focus on the bird, which I did, but sometimes it would focus on the squirrel, and sometimes on the house behind the bird. So I was well pleased when the “evil” squirrel looked like a hulking shadow, ears, tails and all as he’s sitting on top of the feeder, and the bird is hoping he’ll leave soon so he can get a beak or two of seed.

I’m nearly done on rereading/editing Loving the Silver Wolf one last time. I always print out pages as I’m working, so I can get away from the monitor and edit the ongoing book. But at the end, I find changing the View to Read really helps me to catch more mistakes. Somehow, not sure how, I had a chapter out of order. And I had a sentence that indicated the heroine knew about something she shouldn’t know about yet. In movie lingo this would be Blurpers. 🙂

But I’m also finding all the loose ends, and either fixing it on the page I’m working on, or jotting down notes so I can be sure to add something in that will explain what had happened later. I love this point in the manuscript because the book is done. It just needs a little bit of smoothing. 🙂

Okay, off to work on the book and then after that, I’ve got to work on the long synopsis for Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing due on Monday. And then I have to edit A Very Jaguar Christmas. And then, I’m off to work on The Viking’s Highland Lass!!!!

Have a super great Sunday!

Squirrel, Feeder, and Shadow

squirrel time and his shadow (640x411)

Like a thief in the day, the squirrel stretches out to grab some birdseed, but its shadow also stretches out to the bird feeder’s shadow. So if you didn’t see the real squirrel, you could see his shadow in action.

Shadows and Reflections

Shadow on Hill and Reflection in Water

Shadows and Reflections on Water

Shadows and Reflections on Water

When I was in Scotland, I took hundreds of pictures, until my battery died, and I was so disappointed. I couldn’t take pictures again until after we returned from an island, and I never had pictures of the island or the ruins we saw there. Ugh.

But I’ve never shared tons of these pictures because I had so many, shared lots, and then that was it. So as I was looking over some of them, I found some interesting shots.

These are shadows reflected on the hills from another hill, and both the hills and shadows reflected in the water. The water is so glass like, it’s hard to tell in the bottom shot that it was actually a reflection and not just ground.

But aren’t they beautiful?

I thought they turned out nicely, considering we were in motion at the time. 🙂

I love water, so take lots of pictures of water. I also love hills and mountains and trees. Since Scotland has it all, I had fun!

But I also want to make my stories as accurate as possible. One of the things I wanted to see was trees for wolves to run in. But so much of the landscape is uninhabited, that they could really run all over the place and never be seen. 🙂 <3

Shadows: Jet Airliner

I thought of Steve Miller and Jet Airliner when I was writing this blog.

But when I was flying, it’s usually dark, early morning, or late evening. Today it was early afternoon, and for the first time, I caught sight of the shadow of the plane racing across Texas. I thought it was so cool, I had to take a picture. My battery was flashing and I knew I was running out of battery power, but when we went over the lake, I wished I had gotten one of that too. Instead, I just enjoyed watching it skim over the water and got a picture of it flying across the trees down below.

Don’t you think that’s pretty cool? Or am I the only one who sees things like this and is intrigued?

Have a wonderful day!!

Shadow of palm tree on St Augustine Fort

Shadow of palm tree on St Augustine Fort

The fort was interesting, but even made more interesting by the setting sun that created a shadow of a lone palm tree on one of the walls. I just thought it was so cool.

Tree Branch Shadow Art

tree branch shadow (640x480)

I love clouds and water and trees and birds. The Canada geese were collecting material for bird’s nests. All of them had their beaks full of the mulch around the trees. And most of the boats are still not in the water because Chicago can still get a late freeze. This is Lake Michigan and it was a beautiful clear day. Bonnie, who lives in Chicago, says that it’s often a gray day in the winter/spring. But it was beautiful when I was at the lake that day. 🙂

I was trying to get a picture of the Canada geese, but I had my point and shoot camera so the geese didn’t turn out that well. But I loved the blue sky highlighting the still bare branches and the tree branch shadows on the grass. Do you see the ferris wheel at Navy Pier?

Have a super great day!

Back to the writing!
