Throwback Thursday on Friday

When wolves were wolves where some of them were on their long journey to domestication.

So I had an overnight guest last night. My granddaughter has been begging me to sleepover. She’s so cute. We swam for 2 1/2 hours yesterday, read books, and she went to her first official coder class. It was just setting up her character and background which she has done for tons of things. She’s on the Ninja Coders’ white band, so this afternoon is her next one.

It’s only 69 this morning, woohoo! We had wild storms last night. I was afraid they would keep her awake, but she was completely out once her head hit the pillow. lol

We’re supposed to have afternoon thunderstorms, so we’ll try to go swimming this morning and hope the water isn’t too cold. It was cooler yesterday. She wants donut holes for breakfast, something we do sometimes on her overnight stays. One of the workbook pages she was doing was about a little granddaughter staying with her grandma and what she had to pack for the slumber party. Her eyes lit up when she read it and she said, “You picked this one because I’m staying overnight with you, didn’t you?”

She’s so funny. I have to enjoy it while I can before she’s too old and doesn’t want to stay with me. I’ve had her little brother too sometimes.

I haven’t been getting much word count done. I’m still editing which means taking out, revising, adding in, so it kind of all negates the word count.

I’m off to do something before she gets up.

Great Blue Heron

I just love them. I took the grandkids to the library because it was supposed to storm and it had gotten cooler, but it didn’t storm until later. So we picked out library books, then we bought used books on sale and walked through the next door park where we got to see this beautiful heron just waiting for me to capture it in a photo.

The kids were so good–3 and 7, just sitting on the steps nearby being quiet and sitting still while I drew as close to the heron as I could to take some shots of it.

We’re off to the pool this morning. Storms are coming around 2. And I’m taking my granddaughter in for coding class. The things little ones learn. It’s so neat!

Imperial Moth

They are gentle giants and this one was tossed about by the violent rain and wind during the severe thunderstorms we had yesterday. Our electricity kept going out and the internet was out for a while so my granddaughter filled my lanterns with batteries and we brought out a board game and puzzles to do. After the storms subsided, my granddaughter and I went outside to pick up downed tree branches and pine cones and I found the moth in the grass. Not wanting my dogs to trample it, I coaxed him onto a branch and put him on top of the bistro table to dry out. This morning, he had flown off. Successful rescue mission. Yay! We had 3″ of rain yesterday.

Both grands will be here today. We were supposed to have storms all day, but they’re holding off until 1, yay! So I can take them swimming, though the temperature cooled down a lot, so it’s nice. It feels like 70, a welcome change. If they feel it’s too cool, we’ll go to the library.

Teeny Tiny Baby Dragonfly

The teeny tiny baby dragonfly landed on our diving swimming pool rings and was really hard to see. My daughter saw it and I had to take pictures. It was so cute.

I’m off to take my car in for a safety recall that’s a mater of life and death. They wouldn’t fix it before–2 years. So I finally have an appt and hope I don’t get stranded there.

Remember, teeny tiny baby dragonflies can be barely visible so watch out!

Tiny Miniature Roses

These are unusual. They have white on one side and black on the other and red in the center. Love miniature roses.

We had a super busy day yesterday–swimming, lunch out, mall window shopping. It’s so hot that going to the playground isn’t an option. Even at 4 this morning, it feels like 86 degrees out.

I’ve been editing the first 8 chapters of Wolf Bound, which means taking out and rewriting and adding in. Which means I only added 500 words yesterday. So 1500 words from minimum word count goal. Woohoo!

Today, we’re swimming this morning, though before the pool opens, I’ll get some writing in. And then having grilled burgers for Memorial Day.

Okay, I’m off to get something done before I can’t!

Gulf Fritillary Butterfly on Crepe Myrtle

Sometimes they hold still to have their photo taken. Very gracious, I say.

My SIL is going to watch a football game with guy friends today, and so my daughter and I are taking the kids swimming, eating out, and going shopping. We will have a blast.

I’m only 2,000 words away from reaching my minimum word count on Wolf Bound. Woohoo! So yesterday, to see where I need to go with it, I started revising it from the beginning.

Golden Zinnia

I don’t think I ever had one that color before. It’s so pretty. The butterflies and bees love them.

Swim day at the pool was so much fun yesterday. My grandson loves the water and was really swimming (with floaties) across the width of the pool over and over again. My granddaughter swims like a fish now, so it was lots easier to take care of both of them by myself. We had a ball so we’ll be going swimming every day that I have them. The water was even warm because of our 100 degree days.

Amazingly, after such a wild day, I actually managed to write 4,000 words on Wolf Bound. Only 4,000 left to go for my minimum word goal. We had a busy morning today and tomorrow for hours, so we’ll see how it goes.

I wrote this book a year ago, so it takes publishers a while to finally publish them. It makes me feel like I haven’t been writing. 🙂 So this one has just been posted on Amazon for the print version, and I didn’t find any links for the other sites yet.

This is another red wolf book–DEA Ethan Masterson is on the job when he causes all kinds of havoc in a she-wolf’s life–not making the best first impression.

I got news that I’m going to have a new grandchild in December–my son and daughter-in-law’s first, so I’m excited about that. They are stationed in Okinawa right now. I won’t be able to see the baby until they’re settled in Hawaii for her next assignment.

And I have both grandkids this morning, to my surprise. So we’re going to the grocery store, then to the pool, with 100 degrees heat every day, it will probably be semi-warm, for a couple of hours, home for lunch, naptime for little one, and when am I going to get my word count in?????

I did manage 500 words on Highland Wolf and 3,000 on Wolf Bound yesterday, but I suspect I won’t get much writing done today.

I’ve Been Hopping Between Stories

These are not the covers. I just used them for reference. I have them, but the one doesn’t have my title or name on it yet.

I keep visualizing scenes for both books, so I try to get my 2,000 on Wolf Bound daily, since it’s nearly done (11,000 words to go), and whatever I can on the other. Yesterday was a little one day, so my off day. I managed 1,000 on Wolf Bound and 300 words on Highland Wolf. But I’ve been getting 2K on the contemporary and 3K on the Highland one for several days. Yay! I started at 8K for the Highland one a few days ago. It’s now 22K! Once I finish Wolf Bound, I’ll jump on the Highland one exclusively like I did with the other initially.

I need to pick up my granddaughter at noon, so I’m off to work on the stories since this is NOT my off day, before I have to get her.

I finally got an appointment to take my car in for a recall item that I’ve needed to do for a couple of years, one that’s critical, but the Ford dealership wouldn’t do it. I would have to drive 6 hours round trip to Waco where I purchased the vehicle. But I finally got it scheduled here, so I’m hoping I can get it done without any problems.

We are getting into the 90s all week. This is too early!

Cavemen of Old

Kind of like a Thursday Throwback on Wednesday. My days feel all mixed up. I had the kids on Saturday, and the kids on Monday, so I feel discombobulated. lol

I watched the new Neanderthal show on TV about more discoveries they’ve made and saw on National Geographic about the new dinosaur they unearthed. All fascinating stuff. I’ve been interested in all this since I was a kid and read my first book all about earlier humans, and have always enjoyed reading about dinosaurs before so many of them were discovered, or that some really wore feathers.

The cave in this is real. The background to the left created in Oscraps, lots of texture overlays, lighting, the cave people on Etsey.

I’m off to get ready for little one. Big one is off from school starting tomorrow so I need to get a school regimen set up for her, like I did with homeschooling my own, and the rest of the day is just for fun. I also need to sign her up for a million reading programs.
