Don’t Mess with the Big Cat!

Or the little boy! His pal is super protective.

I was listening to a video about a woman who had been attacked by a mountain lion. The two women had seen an abandoned bicycle, and that should have been a red flag. It was in California, and on a biking trail where no one was in sight. Then some distance from there, one of the women was attacked. Her friend was pulling her leg, trying to keep the mountain lion from dragging her friend off into a ravine.

Some other bikers heard the screams and were up on a hill. They had rocks but were afraid to throw them at the cougar and hit the women. The one said, “Throw them or he’s going to kill her!”

And so they did. Then finally, one of the rocks hit the cougar in the back hard enough, that it ran off. A helicopter took the woman to a hospital and she was saved. But when the other woman mentioned finding the abandoned bike earlier, investigators searched the area and found the body of a man.

They’ve had many deadly encounters with hikers and bikers facing down cougars. Humans are easy targets.

It’s wonderful hiking and biking in beautiful remote areas, but it can be dangerous!

I’m back to proofing Deadly Misfortunes. Ten more chapters to go. We have 100s for the next 2 weeks, no break in the heat and no rain.

Hope you’re cooler than us!

  1. Hi Terry
Wow, I am thankful the women were rescued.
I am so glad they threw the rocks.
I have been reading about Cheetahs.
There is no record of a Cheetah killing a human being.
But cougars yes. They are silent stalking there pray
The man though that sad. Sounds like there is something wrong with the cougar to kill one then go after another. Unless the man was drug away. The women saw the bicycle and who knows how long it was there.
Are you still under a heat wave?
We are having some hot weather it is so not extreme.
We are into the fall now so we probably will not have a heat wave now.
October 19th is coming up fast where hopefully we get a lot of Albertans to will be voting for the number 2 ballot to get enough so we in the new year get to vote for Independence. For Alberta be a new Country.
    Looking forward with hope.

    • Yes, the cougar dragged the man away so he wouldn’t be seen. He was partly eaten and buried for further feeding. They cache their food.
Yes, we’re under a horrible heat wave. It’s been 100 and will continue for weeks. With humidity, it feels like 110 every day. And no rain in sight.
I hope you will get some relief from the heat!
