Well, I finally succumbed. With all the traveling I’ve been doing, I wouldn’t have done so, but I’m not traveling as much this year and even less next year, so I decided to get a dog. I’ve always had pets, but when my standard poodle died, I was working full time and writing full time so I figured it wasn’t a good idea to get another. Then I was writing full time and taking trips all the time.
I wanted another dog that didn’t shed. I’ve had poodles, silkies, and an Afghan hound. And I had a Lab, loved her, but she shed all the time. Course I had short haired cats too, and one long-haired one. Not all at the same time.
This time I went for a Havanese because they’re supposed to be good with kids and dogs and cats and people in general. Just a sweet disposition. So this is Prince Max.

He’s now crashed out on my lap. I taught him to sit this morning. So we’ll see if he remembers that later today. 🙂
Off to work on His Wild Highland Lass. Note the Scottish leash? If they’d had a jaguar one, I would have gotten it.

Congratulations again on your new adorable addition Terry. Prince Max is a great name! I’ve had dogs for all my adult life, an Irish Setter, Two English Springer Spaniels, and 3 German Shepherds (my favorite breed) I have always had cats too. I now have 1 cat and no dog….I miss having a dog, 🙁 but I do get occasional overnight visits from my sons dog, he’s a yellow lab, his name is Mason, and we are the best of friends. Enjoy Prince Max!!
Kathleen, I totally loved my Lab. I got my standard poodle when Dusty was really old and she housebroke the puppy. Then when she died, I had Charlemagne, the poodle. But when she died, I just didn’t have the heart to get another. But it’s just as hard not having pets. Love them. 🙂 <3 Can't wait to see what happens when he meets Sir Rilo, who is the center of the universe, he thinks. LOL He's getting a rescue Corgi female companion, so it should be interesting. 🙂 I'm enjoying him. Having fun teaching him. He's already sitting for me. Now I am working on come. 🙂 That he's a little more reluctant to do. They are paper freaks, and so he keeps finding paper and I keep rescuing the paper. They say they'll get a whole roll of toilet paper and have a ball. LOL So trying to keep him entertained with chew sticks and the like.

Lol, puppies are just puppies, and already I think I should have called him Rascal. LOL They say if they can get a roll of toilet paper, they would be in heaven. Why would anyone let a puppy get into their toilet paper. Raising hand here. I walk into the family room and here he is on his towel chewing away on a brand new roll of toilet paper. Sure enough, a cabinet in the bathroom where they are stored was open. LOL I should have taken a picture. 🙂 If he does it again, I will. I wonder what my guests would say if I gave them that roll of paper. It’s puppy tested and approved for human use. 🙂 <3
