Like a thief in the day, the squirrel stretches out to grab some birdseed, but its shadow also stretches out to the bird feeder’s shadow. So if you didn’t see the real squirrel, you could see his shadow in action.

In the 40’s or ’50’s there was a radio mystery/drama series called The Shadow. It’s introduction or theme was something like “The Shadow knows!”, or “Only The Shadow knows!”. Not possible to fool the shadow lol.
