It’s always so satisfying to finish a book and get to the final editing stage. I’m over halfway done on it and will finish it up today and send it to my beta readers. So excited because it’s due Oct 1 and I’ll make my deadline. I’m thrilled because I can now finish some other works-in-progress–once this is done!
I’ve been working on Christmas Wolf Surprise, another red wolf and reindeer story, so I’m enrolled in Tara Lashers art classes and she had one for a dog, so I took one of my penguin photos to add his antlers and nose and lights.
Did you know reindeer can have red noses? And if the light shines on them just right…okay, maybe not the glowing part, but to keep their noses warm, they can have so many blood vessels, they make the nose appear red. I learned so much that I didn’t know about reindeer while I was writing the book. Like Santa’s reindeer had to all be females. lol The males drop their antlers in November or early December. The females get to keep theirs.
I finally made minimum word count on the book and it’s up to 81,000. I’m doing some edits this morning, but after that, I think I’ve written all my scenes and need to go back through and re-read the whole thing. I also reformatted the Darkland Elf, and want to reread it one last time to republish it since I didn’t have a print version, and need to do that also. I might do a new cover for it.
And I need to proof my novella for the anthology one last time. And then I’m working on Angel Fae and hope to finish that. So lots and lots of fun projects to do!!
I took the picture of the octopus at the Omaha zoo. Normally, he hides in a hole, but he was really active so it was fun getting some shots of him. You can actually even see his eye in the middle of that mass of legs. Added some bubbles and a splash in the next picture, thinking it needed a little something more.
I managed 4,000 words yesterday. If I can get 2,000 today, I’ll have word count, so that’s what I’m shooting for and more. Yay!
Yesterday, I was without internet for part of the morning and went and got some groceries and my flu shot. I hate taking shots, by the way. I have to suck it up and hope it helps protect me from some of the viral stuff floating around.
I have polar bear shifters in Alaska, and they do have Arctic wolf friends. I need to write another.
But for now, I’m still working on Christmas Wolf Surprise. I managed 2,000 words yesterday, still a 1,000 behind from word goal, but hope to catch up today. I realized, as I’m editing, I had some unfinished scenes, so I’m working on those too. Yay! That will give me some more word count. Need 6,000 words for word count minimum for the book.
lol….I only made 1,000 on word count yesterday, needed 2,000, wanted 3,000. ugh. I just didn’t know what to write, so I’m still short by 8,000 words for minimum word count. I went back to the beginning and began editing. Editing means cutting and adding, so it won’t add much to word count I’m afraid.
Cooler today, yay! Weeded some. Have to cut the zinnia down with a big lopper one handed, getting creative.
Okay, off to write more today. It’s been 5 weeks on my broken wrist and it’s still swollen. *sigh*
Original Ostrich was just walking in dirt. Picture of Ostrich was taken at the Omaha Zoo.
So got the dogs out early because were supposed to have rain for hours, um, make that days. One of them especially doesn’t like rain or storms. He’ll have to get used to it. I managed to get 4,000 words yesterday! Yay. And I’ve about run out of things to say. Need 10K for the minimum. Hope to get 1,000 today.
Okay, little one will be here any moment, and we’ll be riding out the rain storms together.
It’s been 66 every morning. I couldn’t be happier! Still 91 this afternoon, but with rain coming, maybe, it’s supposed to be only in the high 80s. I just hope the storms don’t get too bad. With the global warming issues, weather is getting to be more unpredictable. I saw where a hurricane out here could end up dumping several feet of snow in Greenland on its path up there. Our new weather term: Weirder weather is on its way.
Butterfly taken at Omaha zoo’s butterfly exhibit.
I wanted to take a moment to mention the 9-11 victims, those who died and those who still suffer from the horror of that day, lest they be forgotten.
In a time when so many people are suffering and dying from COVID-19, it’s difficult to see beyond this at times.
Hope you all do what you can to keep yourself and others safe.
This is one of the bald eagles at the Wolf Canyon and wildlife reserve in Omaha in the rescue center for bald eagles that have been injured, spreading his wings, hopefully getting ready to fly again into the wide world.
I managed to get 2,000 words yesterday on a granddaughter day, yay! But I still need to write 3,000 per day if I’m going to have a week for my beta readers to go over it. 20,000 to go for minimum word count.
I’m off to work. Beautifully cool morning! I love it.
