I’m originally from the West Coast so I loved setting the red wolf pack in Oregon. I also have a gray wolf pack in California, both places I’ve lived, and one in Washington, where my dad was from. I have no idea why, but I was dreaming last night that I was telling someone that whenever I hear the wind rustling through a pine forest I think of California. I truly felt that way when I lived in Florida and they had pine forests too. It brought back the memories of the scent of pine and the sound of the pine needles dancing in the breeze. I felt both comforted and at a loss. I longed to return to California, but it was never to be. Except in my dreams and in my stories too! And that’s good enough for me.
