Not a Bad Head Cold…

I’ve been feeling unbelievably fatigued, sleep, get up, take care of grands, can’t stay awake, nap, get up, exhausted, want to go back to bed. Having sweats, chills, fever, body aches, dizziness. So I took the at home COVID test and it came up positive. Now, I’m still skeptical because the test is old, so I went in to urgent care and sure enough, I have COVID. I’m sure it’s because all of the stress of losing our power for a week, having to run around the whole week among tons of others who were doing the same thing trying to stay cool and charge up phones, etc, and even having gotten over the stomach flu the weekend before Beryl hit on Monday. The good news is the at home tests last longer than the effective date on the box. The doctor said they had to put an effective date on them, but that everyone that came in that had tested positive at home with and older test, tested positive when they had a fresh test at urgent care.

In any event, no grands to take care of today, and I’m headed back to bed.

Double Rainbow

What’s better than seeing a rainbow? Seeing two of them!

Still dealing with this awful head cold. Yesterday, my 3-year-old grandson said, “Did you see the lights flicker?” Even as young as he is, he’s worried we’ll be without power again. We went to the grocery store and picked up butter, corn on the cob, milk, roasted chicken and some freezer chicken sticks that the grands love. But nothing else. We’re still worried our electric will go out again. They ate and ate and ate at my place. They’ve been eating really light while we were trying to stay cool in restaurants and such. I think it’s just been stressful more than we realize for them. My granddaughter went to get the chicken sticks for me to heat up and she looks in the freezer and she just stares. Yes. The freezer is bare except one little package of chicken sticks. lol

The people we stayed with on Friday night lost their electricity for 2 hours on Saturday night after we left. So we don’t want to stock up our fridges and lose everything again.

Hope your week is going super great!!! As long as we keep power, ours is!!!

A Friend’s Cat

We went over to her house when her electric came on and ours was still out. This is one of her cute cats. Not a care in the world while we were all suffering without power. Our power went off twice briefly yesterday and I’m sure we all have PTSD, worried it won’t come back on.

I have both the grands today and we’re going to the grocery store to get a little food. Just enough to keep us going for the day–in case the electric goes out again.

We Got Power After 6 Days Without

We’re under boil water advisory and I ended up getting a terrible head cold, probably from all the stress, but we have power!!! We were finally able to stay with a family Friday night after they got their electric back on in the morning. We were so thankful to stay there and have some normalcy. Otherwise, we were constantly trying to go places to get cool and it’s very stressful. We got power back at 5 pm Saturday night.

She was my buddy at their house, the sweetest dog. 🙂

I actually slept 10 hours, never can do that unless I’m sick and often not even then, took the dogs out at 6 am and we all went back to bed. I slept for another 3 hours. Took them out, fed them, and I’m returning to bed. I’m hoping to knock this cold out pronto! Now that we have power, kids will be back to work and I’ll have both the grands tomorrow, which means no rest.

I imagine there will be a run on the grocery stores now in the area. All I want is corn on the cob and butter. But the way I feel right now, I’m not going anywhere.

Hope everyone gets power soon. We were so appreciative of the family who took us in that one night. She’s my son-in-law’s coworker. We were always hopeful we would get power back, but until it happens, you’re so unsure.

I did manage to turn The Eye of the Wolf in to my editor and Wolf Bound over to my beta readers. Yay!!!

I’m going back to bed. Have a great one.

Still No Power…

Went to a friend’s house and was taking pictures of her 2 cats. This one is really shy but she was the best little model.

Well, no WiFi and no electricity, hard to get anything done beside dealing with the horrendous heat and having 2 little kids and 4 dogs to take care of between us. So I stayed with her for about 4 hours to proof a book I need to turn in, while the kids and grandkids and her daughter went to the Community Fieldhouse to play and my computer was finally charged up. Then all of a sudden, severe thunderstorms came into the area and lightning hit a transformer and knocked it out. There went her electricity. About 6 hours later, she had it back though. We still haven’t had any since Monday at 8:00-8:30 am.

So we stayed at another friend’s house who got their electric back at 5:30 in the morning yesterday. We brought roasted chicken from the deli and ate dinner with them. I thought I would be able to sleep. It was nice and comfortable, but I coughed all night long. I’ve come down with another cold–probably because of the cold/heat/lack of sleep. So frustrating.

They have no idea when our service might be back up but they’re saying it might be as late as July 19.

I’m off here, to have breakfast with everyone and then we’re going to be out the door trying to figure out how to deal with the heat some more.

Beryl Took Us By Storm

This is in my neighborhood. We lost electric on Monday morning because of high winds and trees being uprooted, snapped in half, lines down everywhere, 3 million without power. We still don’t have any. Ugh.

Maybe Sunday? Maybe Monday? There’s a tree on a power line near my development and they haven’t touched it, so no telling. It’s very hot and we’re doing everything we can to power up our phones, and keep cool. Had to toss all my freezer and fridge food this morning. Then a few neighborhoods near me had some power and a severe thunderstorm hit and knocked their power off. One of the families had just bought all new groceries.

Tropical Storm Warning

WIND – LATEST LOCAL FORECAST: Equivalent Strong Tropical Storm force wind – Peak Wind Forecast: 45-60 mph with gusts to 85 mph – Window for Tropical Storm force winds: until late this afternoon

The winds are about 45 mph right now and it’s pouring. Somehow I need to get my dogs outside to potty. They’re not going to want to. Put a rain jacket on and took them out. Finally got them to do their business. Some branches down so far and 4″ of rain.

I’m feeling better after having the flu this weekend. I still have no appetite, am tired and achy, but the upper GI and lower GI stuff is no longer an issue. Hopefully. I barely ate anything yesterday, so we’ll see.

It put me behind on proofing Wolf Bound. 🙁 I had hoped to finish proofing it this weekend.

Robot Serving Dinner

My son and DIL took me to a restaurant in Okinawa where robots brought all our dishes of food. A unique experience for me!

Another double grandkids day, and then I have the next 4 days off to work on Wolf Bound. If I could just work on it religiously for the next 4 days, I would have it done.

Off to get ready for the grands!

Hopefully the robots won’t really take over the world….
