We have rain this morning. I need to empty my rain gauges! Except for coder class, I don’t plan to run around anywhere today. Just staying home, recuperating, working on proofing Wolf Bound, straightening out the house.

They were very entertaining as they swooped in to try and grab the bone. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip to the beach at South Padre Island.
I managed to do edits on Highland Wolf while waiting on my granddaughter to finish coder class yesterday. But that was it. I picked up my dogs but they hadn’t washed them, so I had to wash them and started combing Max out last night. It was too late to work on Tanner. I’ll have to get to him today. I have both grands, so not sure how much of anything I’ll get done. I need to finish Wolf Bound too. By the time I finished pilates last night and was combing Max out, I ran out of time.
I was going to take the grands to the community pool but it’s supposed to rain all day. And we lost our power at some point last night. At least the storms have cooled things off and that is a welcome relief. I started a corned beef at 6 this morning–the grands LOVE it.
Off to get more stuff done before they arrive.

Thunderheads surrounded us but off to one side was a break in the sky and a rainbow. I couldn’t believe how brilliant it was, and a wolf cloud was showing us the way home. We were returning from South Padre Island from the 4-day weekend we had there. The storms last night knocked out half the power in the building where my daughter works. I couldn’t sleep last night because I was worried about losing power. I swear we all have PTSD. I’m going to pick up just a couple of groceries. My fridge is still empty after the disaster of losing everything in there.
I’m still researching solar generators. I’ve been so sick with COVID that it’s been hard to concentrate, but I need some kind of backup.
I did manage to reach the halfway point on Highland Wolf, but I got my edits back for Wolf Bound from my lovely beta readers, so when I have a chance (we’re going to get groceries first), I’ll work on that. Have to pick up the doggies too.

We were supposed to get strong thunderstorms in the night. If we did, I slept through them. Yay!
Didn’t get very far on the story but took the grands swimming in the pool. Two monster probably 16 year olds were in there and one was saying to the grands across the pool, “Dude, there’s no Santa Claus. No Easter Bunny either.” What’s wrong with kids? It was just plain mean.
Luckily, my grandkids didn’t hear them, we ignored them, and I continued to be grandma shark, chasing the grands to their safe spot on the stairs and having a blast.
Well, I’m off to work on the story just a little bit.

Feeling so much better. Still fatigued but not like in the beginning. Of course I was still trying to take care of the grands until I learned I had Covid. But at least I’m coming out of it.
Managed to nearly get to 30K on Highland Wolf. So excited that the book is coming along nicely.

Forget that. She’s too busy chowing down, just like my dogs do when they’re eating. I can’t remember where I took this picture but it was at a petting zoo. My granddaughter doesn’t like to touch farm animals because they’re so dirty.
Up to 26K on Highland Wolf. Making progress and I was dreaming of when I would have 35K…halfway done. lol But if I can keep up the momentum, I will before long.

My brain has been so foggy, I couldn’t concentrate on anything, but I started taking paxlovid for covid and was feeling a little better. I couldn’t believe that NO pharmacies had it except Walgreens in a couple of places. Anyway, I’m hopeful it helps.
But I’m sooooo excited about writing on the medieval Highland wolf shifter story. It’s up to 24K now, 46k to go! For a minimum.
Woohoo! The first one that I wrote was only a novella and readers wanted a full length novel next. I just wanted to make sure that readers would even be interested in a Medieval Highland wolf shifter story first. So I’m excited to make this one a novel! Can’t wait to finish and share. I’m having a ball with the characters.

I’ve been feeling unbelievably fatigued, sleep, get up, take care of grands, can’t stay awake, nap, get up, exhausted, want to go back to bed. Having sweats, chills, fever, body aches, dizziness. So I took the at home COVID test and it came up positive. Now, I’m still skeptical because the test is old, so I went in to urgent care and sure enough, I have COVID. I’m sure it’s because all of the stress of losing our power for a week, having to run around the whole week among tons of others who were doing the same thing trying to stay cool and charge up phones, etc, and even having gotten over the stomach flu the weekend before Beryl hit on Monday. The good news is the at home tests last longer than the effective date on the box. The doctor said they had to put an effective date on them, but that everyone that came in that had tested positive at home with and older test, tested positive when they had a fresh test at urgent care.
In any event, no grands to take care of today, and I’m headed back to bed.

What’s better than seeing a rainbow? Seeing two of them!
Still dealing with this awful head cold. Yesterday, my 3-year-old grandson said, “Did you see the lights flicker?” Even as young as he is, he’s worried we’ll be without power again. We went to the grocery store and picked up butter, corn on the cob, milk, roasted chicken and some freezer chicken sticks that the grands love. But nothing else. We’re still worried our electric will go out again. They ate and ate and ate at my place. They’ve been eating really light while we were trying to stay cool in restaurants and such. I think it’s just been stressful more than we realize for them. My granddaughter went to get the chicken sticks for me to heat up and she looks in the freezer and she just stares. Yes. The freezer is bare except one little package of chicken sticks. lol
The people we stayed with on Friday night lost their electricity for 2 hours on Saturday night after we left. So we don’t want to stock up our fridges and lose everything again.

We went over to her house when her electric came on and ours was still out. This is one of her cute cats. Not a care in the world while we were all suffering without power. Our power went off twice briefly yesterday and I’m sure we all have PTSD, worried it won’t come back on.
I have both the grands today and we’re going to the grocery store to get a little food. Just enough to keep us going for the day–in case the electric goes out again.
