It’s Not an April Fool’s Joke–I’m Home!

So I feel a little like my dogs. The groomer shorn them so they were clean when I got home. But they’ll grow out their fur quickly and I need them clean because my immune system is so compromised.

I’m eating better, sleeping better, getting way more exercise. I feel great. But soon, I’ll be back on another chemo cycle. Hopefully, my blood counts will be higher when I do my next bloodwork. And hopefully I’ll handle the chemo better than I did the first two weeks on them. I went into remission in two weeks though and that was amazing.

When I came home, I got to see the grandkids, we all wore ND95 masks, the only ones the doctor recommended. They have them on Amazon now in all kinds of colors and they’re much more breathable and comfortable. Then I took my puppies home, and have been doing tons of laundry–even of other things like the dogs’ bedding. A house cleaner cleaned my home, so it would be much less dusty.

And my flowers have bloomed in profusion, more than I have ever seen before as if welcoming me home. I’m off to feed the birds for the first time in 5 weeks, so I can enjoy their chatter at the feeders. And then, I’m back to the books!!!

Have a great day!! Hope yours is as glorious as mine.

The Fairy and the Ladybug

Not only does she love strawberries but she also loves ladybugs!

I had some horrifying health news a month ago–my white blood cell count has been declining for 2 years. Word to the wise, if you have results like that, don’t hesitate to go in and make sure you’re okay. I was constantly sick, colds, flu and couldn’t over them, which was another indication something was wrong.

I had a bone marrow biopsy to determine what I had. But the dr wasn’t even going to see me for 6 weeks after I had the biopsy.

I have an aggressive leukemia. And that isn’t enough. I have another leukemia in the bone marrow that doesn’t respond to chemo. I’m getting chemo starting today, 10 days before I would have seen the other doctor. Needless to say, I switched to MD Anderson. They put me on trial and I’ll be here for another 28 days. I’ve already been here 9 days, which is why my blogs have been spotty. With all the tests they run, I just haven’t had time for them.

They say that the AML should be in remission in 28 days, but could be in remission as early as 14 days. So fingers crossed. Once it’s in remission, I need to find a compatible bone marrow donor (DNA) to try and get rid of the rare WM. I will continue to take chemo when I leave the hospital and they’ll do blood draws 3 times a week to make sure the cancer doesn’t come back for the 2nd cycle. It’s all been overwhelming, lots of information overload.

I’m still working on edits on Protecting the White Bear, but I’m having a time coming up with the end. Maybe soon.

Just a tale of caution, don’t put off until tomorrow where your health is concerned. I hope this works. If it doesn’t, they’ll start me on another chemo.

Have a great day!
