Fill er Up, Steampunk Boy

Created from several artist kit elements.

So from Friday through Sunday I finished copyedits on one book, need to turn that in today, and I reread and edited White Wolf Holiday, though I still need to finish the end and write another scene. But at least it’s closer to being done.

I’ve decided weight and weeds are alike, you have to keep working to get rid of them.

Last full week to have the kids, though I’ll have my grandson still two days a week and have to pick up my granddaughter at school every day, but I should be able to get more writing done.

Hope your day is fine! I’m so tired of this heat and humidity. It feels like I’m swimming through the air this morning with 84% humidity at 6 am.

Macaw in Paradise

We’re off to Galveston Island today for a trip to Moody Gardens. The beaches aren’t at all like Destin or South Padre Island, but we’re going to the aquarium and rainforest then returning home. My granddaughter is so excited. She has never been to Galveston. Maybe when my grandson is 4, I’ll take both of them in 2 years. I finally got him into his floaties for the first time on Monday, and yesterday he was actually swimming without clinging to me. woohoo. We have 3 more days of the pool being open during the week, so hopefully he’ll keep progressing.

I’m working on edits for the Silver Town Wolff story, Roxie’s story, so hope to get those done this weekend. 🙂 And maybe get white wolf done too. I started a wolf story for one of the teen brothers who is now all grown up but needs a she-wolf to call his own. And I’m still working on the polar bear Halloween story. Everything is slow going while I have the grandkids, though we’re having a ball.

Art Challenge–Dreams or Nightmares

We have to take 3 images they provide to create our artwork. I used the bokeh, background, newborn baby, a couple of textures and then a ton of elements from kits I’ve picked up over the years.

Both grand kids are here so I have my granddaughter doing math and spelling and my grandson working on coloring.

And I’m trying to get my blog done. lol

Bunny and the Butterflies

I think even the butterflies are too hot! I did see a sulfur one flying around, and I caught some pictures of a black swallowtail–love them–and the zinnia are in full bloom, but it’s just so hot. I managed to get another flowerbed weeded early this morning. yay! I’ve been surprised that I haven’t had issues with fire ants and mosquitoes.

Okay, off to work on the story. Going to see my granddaughter create something as a junior chef at Kroger in an hour. Such a cute program. And then dinner with them tonight and we’ll watch some more of Discovery of Witches.

Whimsical Scotland

Every time I visited Scotland, I just felt it was magical. So the picture of Scotland, the woods, reflected in the loch is mine and I added some more magic to it that I’m sure is truly there but just not visible to us mere mortals.

Off to donate books to the library–I have WAY too many because of my years of going to author conferences and it’s time to lighten the load. I’ve done purges periodically for years, but it’s time again. I hate releasing them, but… Remember that Hoarders show I watch? Yep, it gives me incentive to unload some things I’m just not using–ever.

Spring cleaning in the Summer and it feels great!

Bluebird in My Backyard

I love bluebirds. This one is a juvenile.

Well, I have both kids today. That can be a fun challenge because they’re fighting over seats, papers to color, food to eat, shows to watch. They’re having popsicle day at the clubhouse, so we’ll drop by there for that after 11. We’re going to try the pool also with my grandson at 9. At 2 years old, you’d think he’d like the water, but he was terrified of it last time. It’s a different pool. Shallow end so he can just sit out or whatever. Then my granddaughter can go where it’s not as deep and she’ll be safe still if I’m staying with him. So we’ll see today. Then it’s Girl Scouts and I have to drop him off with daddy and take her to GS. It will be a hectic day as usual. I did manage 1,000 words last night. Need 2,000. *sigh*

I loved Puss N Boots! It even had a fun romance. Woohoo!

On Friday, my daughter and granddaughter and I are watching the Little Mermaid at the theater, so I’m looking forward to that.

Boltz and Luna Wolves

I took the photo of the wolves at the International Wolf Center in Ely, MN. Luna, the black wolf was the only female at the time and she was the alpha. Boltz was acting like an omega wolf the last time I was up there.

Another wild day ahead of us. I coughed all night, so after our swim and lunch and I’m going to try to force myself to take a nap. I just need more sleep but as soon as I lay down, or even just during the day, I can’t stop coughing.

Flamingo and Her Egg

I had never seen flamingos and their eggs or little ones so it was fun to see them at the San Diego Zoo. The roses are from my garden.

I’m off to work a little before my granddaughter arrives. I did manage to get a 1,000 words last night, no sleep again because of all the coughing. I’ll be glad when I can get rid of this cold.

We’re off to dance, leftovers for lunch, more school work–which is all fun. We were finding everything that magnets could attach to, properties of objects, differences and sameness, read another book, created a book mark, and she started writing her own story. Felt what it would be like to hold an ice cube, watched ice cubes melt, and an egg white turn white, then ate the egg, of course. They talked about adding chocolate to milk and heating it, and adding chocolate to milk and freezing it–hot cocoa and chocolate ice cream. She wanted to do both. Grandma didn’t have the chocolate, but we could try at some other time.

And then we’ll make a quick pool trip before her mom comes for her. We did trim bushes, tomato plants, picked tomatoes, raked up the clippings, added it to the compost pile, watered, cleaned windows and outdoor tables, so we did good! Today, if we have time, we’re dusting. 🙂

Next week, she’ll be here even longer each day, but I do need to get some of my writing done.

Water Lilies at the Arboretum in Minnesota

I loved their arboretum there. And the tree sloth in the tree made it super special. I wish we had an arboretum like that here.

Grosbeak in the Garden

We rarely see them. Only like in the spring when they’re on their way to somewhere else and I only see one. But he was great at posing for me. The background is a tree I had taken a picture of in the fall and then added textures over so it looks kind of Monet-ish.

So I woke in the middle of the night thinking I needed Christmas stuff earlier and a different opening on white wolf. I’ll open with an office Christmas party at the white wolf PI agency. I’ll just move the other part that I started to the place after that. It’s all a great few scenes and 12K, so no way am I starting over from scratch.

Have little one here today We had 4.5 inches of rain, maybe more. We walked to the mailbox and I’ve been pulling out wild grape and a thorny vine and tons of oak seedlings all over the yard. Possibly more rain on its way and the mosquitoes are coming out.
