Grizzly bear shifter Amy Rutherford has special abilities where she can hear voices in her head—the thoughts and feelings of others—and she needs to get control of it. It started way before she nearly died in a car accident during a rainstorm where her parents perished, and she’s sure the crash wasn’t an accident. But nobody believes her. She can’t let go of what had happened, and storms bring on a case of Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. She was on a blind date while celebrating her sister and her husband’s anniversary and a storm rages overhead at the dance club. She’s assaulted by all the voices in her head, until one stands out. A man is observing her, hiding his dark secrets from her, or trying to—and she’s not sure if he’s one of the good guys, or not.
Cedric Shader is a grizzly bear shifter and knows not to contact Amy the way he did at the dance club, instead of trying to meet her face to face first. But he senses her vulnerability and that she is experiencing psychic overload, just like he would when he was a kid. Now, he uses his ability to investigate murders, but the crime scene memories stay with him, though he tries hard to compartmentalize them, and he doesn’t want her to witness them. He told himself he is here on a job, not to become involved with a woman who has psychic issues. But she’s in trouble—and he’s certain she needs him to teach her how to cope. Worse, she believes someone had murdered her parents, and he’s beginning to wonder if she’s right. With a break-in at her apartment, and a possible connection to the murder of her parents, they’re running out of time before the person kills again.
I’m still waiting on Apple’s link, but everyone else has the book.
It took me a decade to write the book because I had to keep stopping for other books that were on strict deadline. So I was glad to finally finish it! I hope everyone loves it!
I also redid the cover for The Genie’s Wish and worked on the story to add an epilogue and add more to the story.
Genies are only fairy tales. At least that’s what Lizzie Mason thinks until she manages to summon one from an antique vase. Now she’s in real trouble as she vows to save the man imprisoned in the bottle from a fate worse than death and ends up in his world, hoping to change fate without getting herself killed.
The genie must right the wrongs of the past before the curse placed on him can be broken. But will the woman who has freed him be able to manage in a world where deceit and death await them?
I have a request for another vampire adult book. I need to see if I had another that I’d started. I don’t think so, so I’ll have to begin from scratch.I love it when readers get hooked on a series and want more. I had finished 2 of the ones I’d started last year, I think. So this will be number 7. But I’m working on Highland Wolf and want to finish the YA vampire book, Bite of the Vampire.
We’re supposed to get severe thunderstorms this afternoon, so I need to get some yard work done too. Oh, and I’m having auto read on Roxie’s story so I can listen to the whole story and see where I can add some mentions about the Mardi Gras party. I used the feature to listen to Bear in Mind for the last proof and was able to hear things that I had missed reading. That’s the way it was when I had books narrated for audio books. I’d hear things I’d missed. The auto read feature isn’t perfect–contractions come out weird, and words hyphenated can come out mangled, but otherwise, it’s really great for a different way to proof. Especially since I don’t have to sit and read, but can do some stuff while I’m listening.
Have a super great day! I’m off to get some more yard work done. This is the time of year when I’m trying to figure out if “it’s” a weed, or a flower.
Okay, I have to get ready to leave. My daughter, granddaughter and I are going shopping and having lunch. I missed out on the fun for the weekend because I was still so sick, so today is our day to have a little bit of fun.
I had so many things to do yesterday, but one of the things I was working on was a new cover for Bear in Mind. I’d purchased one from a book cover artist, but didn’t really care for the look of the couple, and it had a very brown background. Since this is a spring story, I wanted to show more of a spring look.
I’m proofing it one more time and then I’ll publish it.
Still coughing my head off all night long, and still have the worst sore throat. I’ve tried everything but nothing seems to be working.
I put together the new garden bed. It’s perfect for keeping my dogs away from the fence in a 9 foot area and for planting my herbs. I love chives so can’t wait to plant more.I just need to level it now and then begin filling it.
After I finish proofing Bear in Mind, I’m going to pull up Roxie’s story and add a Mardi Gras something.
Have a great day!!! It turned cool here, perfect for getting some stuff done.
So I was brainstorming with my friend again and we couldn’t come up with the idea. She runs through a bunch of ideas and then suddenly out of the blue, I’m thinking of the hero not being good at a lot of things. He’s a vet and he’s really good with animals, people not so much. Then I mention something else that he needs to do and my friend thinks of a great scene for that. I need to write all this down. I was thinking about it at 2 in the morning, when I wanted to sleep. lol
Got the wrong trellis for this box. It’s really irritating because it popped up as the one to go with the box I ordered and I ordered them at the same time. So I don’t know if I can send it back or not because it’s taken me so long to get it together because of deadlines and then being sick. Or if I can purchase the spare parts that will make this work. Otherwise that was an expensive disaster.
I’m off to work on my lovable hero and his first meeting of the heroine. I have two different scenarios of how they meet. Trying to decide which one will work the best.
So I was working on my garden box. It’s like 9 ft long and nearly 3 feet tall–steel. I finished putting it together and oh, no, wait! I forgot to put the trellis on. But truthfully, putting it together and then adding the trellis is easier, I think, then trying to add more stuff to it when handling the unwieldy box. That meant taking out 12 bolts and replacing them with longer ones connected to the trellis brackets. Okay, no big deal, really.
Plus, I had to tighten all the rest of the bolts that I SWEAR were tight yesterday, which eludes to the fairy in the picture I created who must have, had to have loosened them in the middle of the night!
So I have the 12 brackets on, but now the square rods aren’t matching up with the holes for 6 of them. It appears I will have to move 6 of the brackets. OH NO! Okay, I’m sure that once I get this done, all will be smooth sailing from here on out. I’m sure of it. Maybe. That is if the fairies in the garden don’t mess with things again tonight. And yes, I followed the directions in the first place when putting the brackets on.
Okay, taking a break from working on it to try and get some writing done. What a workout. Have a great day!
I forgot to write my blog this morning! That’s because I was putting the finishing touches on Bear in Mind and sent it to my beta readers! Woohoo! I started this book years ago, so I was glad I finally finished it. Other books kept grabbing my attention!
This is a Great Blue Heron flying off when my granddaughter and I were trying to get closer for some pictures. I love them. They’re so majestic.
Now I’m off to write up the marketing materials for Run With the Wolf. Then back to sorting out my tax paperwork. And then I can finally maybe get started on putting that garden bed together. I’m still cutting back plants before the new growth starts to spring forth.
Have a very merry day. Let it take flight, and you never know where you might land!
Storms in the middle of the night. I saw where we were supposed to have them, but it’s always a toss up whether they come to fruition or not. They did. We had an inch of rain.
Little one will be here before I know it! I started a pot roast and we’re going to stay in today! Except for picking up big sister. But if the weather reports are true, we’ll be having terrible thunderstorms and wind this afternoon again so we’ll be driving today.
I love capturing reflections! Eight turtles in a row–two little babies together.
Okay, off to get some more stuff done before little one is here!
Photo I took of a fawn at the wildlife reserve in Omaha and then artified.
I’m at 56K on Bear in Mind. Inching along. Had a couple of scenes in mind this morning before I got up, so need to write them down. I want to put my bark mulch down and then get more when I can.
And I’m work on the last two bears. I have a new fur coming in today, so will try and cut them out also.
Off to work! We have my granddaughter’s investiture to go to for Girl Scouts this afternoon, so lots to do before then.
I ordered a bunch of different kinds of zinnia seeds. I love them because they’re so colorful and long lasting through winter, but also the butterflies and bees love them too. One year when my granddaughter was little, I carried her around the zinnia garden and pointed out all the colors to her to teach her colors. That year I had planted tons of them in the backyard, not just the front so I could enjoy seeing all the different kinds of butterflies flitting from one to another.
Well, I’m off to work on Bear in Mind. I finally reached 50K. Shooting for 70K.
I coughed a lot last night, but Max wasn’t sick so I was able to sleep somewhat better!
Hope your day makes you feel at the top of the world!
