Up to 52K on Highland Wolf. I had hoped for more yesterday, but I was glad to get at least my 2,000 words in. Planted some more flower seeds, zinnia and sunflowers.

Baby is here today. I need to ship some books and get my car safety inspected, so I figure I’ll do that today since baby days are non-writing days. Though I hope to still get a 1000 words in.

I’ve been watching Alone. It’s interesting to see how everyone builds their shelters and tries to scrounge up enough food to survive. Some of the shelters are out of this world. It’s amazing how some have built shelters to really last. And others? No way would they survive a snowy winter. The guy that built a beautiful cabin got homesick and went home. It was really a shame because I really thought he’d last through the snows that are coming. The area is sure beautiful. But the grizzlies? Huge and dangerous. Since I wrote about grizzly bear shifters, it’s interesting to watch this and for the 2nd book, I’ll have to reference some of their behavior that I watched in the show. Also, one of the guys was cooking and a cougar showed up for dinner.

Okay, off to get ready for little one’s arrival!

The Rabbit

Taking a photo from ordinary to extraordinary.

I finally made my word count. We went to a ramen noodle restaurant last night for my granddaughter’s birthday, her choice, and then opened presents. I got her flash cards for addition, and one for more words to learn, books, and a 1st Grade workbook and I let her open that one early. She started working on it before her mom arrived to pick her up. Yay!

I made my word count plus 1,000 last night. Did not think I’d even make word count it was such a hectic day, so really glad. And I’m back at it today. We’re going at 2:30 to her kids’ birthday party, Girl Scout troop, to do science stuff. She loves science experiments. So hope to get my word count in by then.

I’ve been planting flower seeds and saw that some of the ones I planted a couple of days ago are up. Now I need to get the zinnia and sunflower seeds in the ground.

Wild Night

Four hours of sleep, really sleeping great, then the stupid phone goes off, buzzing twice. It was updating. Light on the phone goes on, then off, then on, then off. So annoying. So for half an hour, I lay in bed, unable to sleep. They say to get up and do something and then go back to bed if you can’t sleep. I get up and do some edits and hear this wild wind. Thunderstorms! Not scheduled at all today. I wouldn’t have been able to sleep through them anyway. Thunder, rain, wild night.

Took the photo of the baby orangutan and zinnia flower and giant yellow swallowtail butterfly. The baby orangutan is exploring new worlds.

Okay back to bed and hopefully to sleep if the storm doesn’t get too wild. I am at 44K on the book, 36K to go, woohoo! And having lunch with my granddaughter at her school, first time in 5 weeks since being so sick. Still don’t have all my voice back. But it’s her birthday, so wanted to do something special.

Gerbera Daisy & Coneflowers

Do you ever plant something that’s supposed to be perennial but it doesn’t come back? I have a couple of red gerbera dasies that did. But the gorgeous orange–called Jaguar, and the yellow, didn’t. 🙁 So I bought two more red and a couple more orange. I’m sure if I find the right place for them, they’ll come back.

I think I have better luck with coneflowers. The butterflies love them.

I see where these are coming back. I have a couple others that come back every year. That’s what I like–perennials that are perennials. The purple sage is supposed to be also, but I have it in one place where it comes back every year and the other places they were good for a couple of years and then gone. So I want to try them in a couple of more places. They like dryer areas, so I think I got them too wet. And also, though most of these flowers like lots of sun, we have so much heat and sun normally that they do better in some shade. 🙂 The daylilies I’ve planted always come back and they’re bigger and showier than ever. Also, a bunch of the mums have made it.

Okay, so I’ve been gardening, filling up one of the raised planter beds with cardboard, twigs, cypress mulch, shredded paper, and raised bed earth. I want to start planting my chives and other things in it!

I managed to write 4000 words yesterday, woohoo! So that means I’m at 41K, over halfway there! Still have to hit this hard or I can miss the deadline.

Pet Photos Artified

I have to run errands that I hadn’t planned to run this morning. *sigh* I wanted to write all day since I don’t have baby, until I have to pick up my granddaughter, since I ran errands yesterday and wish I could have done these then!

So I’ve been doing some pet photos for friends and here are 3 of them.

Okay, I’m off to do a little bit on the story before I have to run. One place is open at 8, but the next isn’t until 9, and the next isn’t until 10. ugh. So I’ll go at 9 for the first two places and be early for the 10 appt and work on edits in the car. I really had hoped I would have gotten some words on the book yesterday, but after baby left, I only had 300 words.

Bison Artified

I love water, so the bison had to be drinking from a watering hole. I took the photo at the Omaha, Nebraska wildlife reserve.

I’m off to write. I managed to get 4,000 words yesterday again. I need to keep adding more like that to make my deadline this time.

A Little Easter Fun

The artist kit is by Lynne Anzelc. Love her work. Then you just create pictures with her elements.

I managed 4,000 words yesterday. I pulled up a bunch of wild blackberry bushes in my flowerbed and the grass even. They are so thorny–they go right through the gloves. And pulled up a ton of volunteer trees that are taking over. I could have a forest! I’ve also been bitten by fire ants a few times.

I should make it to 30K today. 3/8ths of the way done.

Time for Cocktails

Mixer brush painted the bottle of oil and cocktail and used overlays for the background. I took the photo at a restaurant in Central Texas.

I managed to plant my daffodils and lilies while baby was napping yesterday and got 1,000 more words. Today I should be 1/4th of the way done on the book. I’m hoping to get 3,000 words today, but must get 2,000 at least. I’ve been putting gravel underneath my flowerbed pavers so they don’t sink into the dirt and mulch and weeding, so hope to get more of that done today too.

Okay, off to get my day started. The ravenous dogs are waiting to eat.

The Sea Siren

I mixer painter brushed the model and background and added the lower part of her dress and created the crown.

I finally feel better! No sore throat. Still have a loss of voice and still getting over this, but man, no sore throat. Now if it will only stay away! The last time it went away, it came back after only a 2-day reprieve even worse and for longer. So fingers crossed.

Just have baby today, so hope to put him down for a nap this afternoon and plant the daffodils finally. And my daughter gave me some lilies for Mother’s Day a little early so I can put them in the ground too.

It’s warmer today–57 instead of 36 first thing, so I think we’ll be walking to the school to pick up sister this afternoon also. Yay!

Okay, got to get going. I managed another 1000 on Highland Wolf, so am at 18K with 62K to go. That feels more doable!

Oh, before I forget, got a lovely review from Library Journal for the upcoming book: Wolf on the Wild Side! I’m over the moon! Howling! Yay!

Butterflies Blending In

I used Topaz Studio Impression on a photo of a branch of flowers, added texture overlays under and over the picture and the butterfly images which were my own–two taken at a butterfly house and the one on the lower right on flowers in my yard.

It’s cold out, feels good before the heat comes back. I managed 3,000 on Highland Wolf last night, so hope to keep going like that because I’m way behind with writing. This cold has really gotten me down.
