Cheetah in Spring

I took the photo of the cheetah at the zoo in Omaha.

So I’ve been cleaning out the fridge, love how I can take so many pieces out to clean–drawers, shelves, other pieces and I even remembered how they all went back in! But there’s a welded piece I can’t remove and some of the defrosting turkey juices went under it. I’m still working on getting that cleaned. At least the fridge is like new again, except for that minor issue.

I’ve also been cleaning out the bird feeders. With so much rain, they were all a mess. And I’m cutting back all the ferns and other plants that died back when the freeze hit us. So that’s a work in progress. All that will come back, but I just need to cutaway the old to allow the new growth to come out.

And right now, I’m back to work on Dreaming of the Highland Wolf. 🙂

Water World–Honorable Mention

Supposed to be an urban future for the Awake challenge this month. I envisioned some areas being under water–that didn’t used to be. Speaking of which, we have severe thunderstorms most of the day today, and the rain will continue through Thursday or Friday, unless it decides to change it mind!

I managed to reach 36K on Dreaming. I think I’ll end up with about 40K. I’m off to work!

It’s Still Winter, but…

Today it will get to 60 and two days this week it will reach 70.

I’m not sure what this little guy is. I took his photo at one of the zoos.

Okay, have a sick little toddler here today. Both grandchildren have been sick. So not fun.

I’m off to see if he’ll eat anything. We’re having rain for the next four days too. We needed it, so that’s good.

Love Doves

I took the photo of them in Okinawa. Aren’t they the sweetest?

I’ve never seen doves cuddling like this where I could get a picture of them, though I have mourning doves and white wing doves galore.

Okay, I’m off to write. Today, I should get to the halfway point on Dreaming of the Highland Wolf. Onward and upward!

Silkie Bantam in Okinawa

Having so much fun with the photos I took in Okinawa!

Still in the deep freeze at 20 degrees, though that’s much better than 7 degrees yesterday, but we’re supposed to get to 45 later today and 66 tomorrow! Weird weather.

I managed to add 2,000 words to Dreaming of the Highland Wolf yesterday, turned in Mated for Christmas edits, and am still waiting for Night of the Vampire to come out on Apple.

All my tomato plants and bell pepper plants succumbed to the cold, as did the lantana and other flowering plants. My roses froze. I had icicles all over the ground where they’d fallen off the roof.

I’m off to work on the story! Have a beautiful day!

Silkie Bantam in Okinawa

I added the flowers but left some of the volcanic rock that was so prevalent on the island.

It’s 19 degrees out but feels like 7 degrees. We don’t usually get this bad a freeze so I finally got a bird bath warmer and it’s working! I’m not sure the birds are drinking from it since I put the warmer in though. I had to keep breaking up the ice yesterday and then they flocked to it to drink before the warmer arrived.

They closed schools today. We’re just not capable of handling icy roads out here. Okay, just saw a cardinal taking a sip. Yay!

I finished proofing Night of the Vampire. I’ve been trying to come up with some more story to Dreaming of the Highland Wolf. I had one, tried it, and then I didn’t feel it was working, so am heading in a different direction.

We are cold here! I know it’s not like up north, but we aren’t winterized or have winter clothes like they do up north, and on top of that, our Texas grid is so bad, they keep telling everyone to not use electric appliances or we’ll all be without electricity like when so many people died over it one year. And why is this?

White Bison in Winter

Took the photo of the bison at the wildlife reserve in Omaha. Loved going there! The momma had a baby that was white too.

I ended up with 61K on Night of the Vampire. Just wrapping it up!

A Unique Perspective

I created the composite for a creative challenge. The theme was humor. At first, I was like…I don’t even know how to create humor in art. Though my writing reflects it in my stories. But that comes naturally. I like subtle humor, rather than in-your-face humor. So then I had it! The meerkat with the unique perspective that saved the day!

I have been writing on Night of the Vampire, still trying to reach the end. It will be 60K before I know it. I wrote 3,000 words yesterday and I’m over 58K now. Yay!!

Okay, off to get some things done. The dogs want to be fed. The birds want to be fed. I need to clean out the bird baths and fill up the water fountain. My son and daughter-in-law got me a Dyson vacuum cleaner for Christmas and I have been having a ball vacuuming. I’m weird, right? But it’s amazing how well it works!!! I’ve been dragging a shop vac around for 20 years because I could never find a vacuum cleaner that did a good job. Neither did it though. So I will be doing more vacuuming–for fun!
