So it’s back to babysitting and we were doing the letter S and counting in 10s and reading books. I managed to get 500 words done before she got here. Hoping to get more done when she naps and after she goes home.
We’re going to talk about the weather, days of the week, months. And I’ll have her help me create a Photoshop picture from Oscraps.
I managed 2,000 on the new White Wolf book and finished the scenes for A Date with a Wolf yesterday–for a total of 5700 words. Today is my off day for word count on the deadline book but I always try to get 500-1,000 done on my days off. I was working on edits and a new scene today on Primal Desire. 🙂
In Baldur’s Gate, I finally took out the Harpys–but one of my characters died and then I was supposed to bring him back, but when I tried, all my characters died of poison. So I quit the game and went back to work on the stories!
I’m late on blogging. I was trying to get this picture done, but also writing some final scenes in A Date with a Wolf–the novella for the 10th anniversary release of Silence of the Wolf coming out in December. I need to write one more scene, but I’m also doing a bunch of edits on it, then once that’s done, I need to read through it all over again. But, I’m going to work on White Wolf to get my 2,000 word count in on it today also. I already have 2240 words on A Date with a Wolf today. It’s nearly at 30K.
Once I’m “done” with it, I’ll let it sit for a day or so, and then reread it all the way through again and edit it again. Then I can turn it over to my beta readers. After more edits, I can turn it in to my publisher.
As soon as I’m through with edits, I’m going to write the last scene, fighting this little guy. I need to fight 6 more of him to finish the next quest.
Tomorrow, it’s back to business as usual. Except I’ll have little one back. So I’ll have to work on my story around the time she’s here.
It will be a busy year ahead, unless I get horribly sidetracked!
Hope you are having some fun in the new year! Have a great day!
Said goodbye to my son this morning. I don’t know when we’ll be able to get together again, things being what they are, but we had a lovely visit for two weeks!
He has a 15-hour drive, so we got up really early to have donuts and coffee/tea, with my daughter and then he was off.
I’m off to write, but we’ve been going to bed so late and my internal alarm clock won’t shut off, so I’m up still really early every morning. It will be nice to get on more of a regular schedule and try to get closer to 8 hours of sleep. The last few nights it’s been 4 or 5 hours and that’s just not enough!
I decided to add a prologue to Primal Desire, and maybe an epilogue so off to chase off a monster.
Well, sort of! Hoping for a better year this year!
Taking down all the Christmas decorations, my son will be leaving tomorrow, and life in the shadow of the pandemic continues.
We have hope, and I want to think the best of people, but when a Wisconsin pharmacist destroys 500 doses of the vaccine for whatever insane reason, you gotta wonder what the world is coming to. If he doesn’t want to get vaccinated, fine, but why destroy the hope for others who want and need it? It’s essentially domestic terrorism when we’re in a battle against a virus that has killed at least 346,000 people in the States alone. And that’s not even the true numbers. If people die at home of the virus, they’re not counted. And for other deaths, they don’t test to see if they had the virus when they died. So you have to wonder how many have really died.
How is that acceptable in any stretch of the imagination?
Hope you all stay safe! That work can resume, and everyone can return to a more normal world in the new year.
My son has been busy making a computer game. I’ve been busy writing. Ended up with over 7,000 words yesterday, and had dinner and played games with my daughter and SIL last night.
I believe I forgot to blog yesterday! We had 3″ of rain yesterday.
Under tornado watch this morning and flash flood warnings.
I’ve written 102,000 words on 5 different books since Dec 9th. But I need to finish one up.
I decided to change the title of Dangerous Liaisons to Primal Desire because I have a cover for it and because I was afraid Deadly Liaisons would be too similar to the working title. I’m now at 57K on Primal Desire. Yay!
Tomorrow I should be starting on the new white wolf book (deadline book), David Davis’s story. But it will be New Year’s, so I might still work on Primal Desire. My son leaves on Sunday, so I’ll probably start the white wolf book then. Then we are back to our regular programming and I’m back to taking care of my granddaughter a couple of days a week, etc!
Okay, I’m off to work on writing before I have to stop and do other things.
We actually had some in one of our pounds when I first moved here. Very curious creatures, playful. I was walking my two dogs and they were fascinated with them. I took these at one of the zoos. Dallas, I think.
We’ve been busy working or playing games or eating. Need to exercise more. lol! My son is working from home, I’m working from home, my son-in-law and daughter are off this week. I’m still averaging 5000 + words a day. I’m trying to figure out my next strategy and my next scene before I tackle an assassin and my word count. I started playing the RPG Baldur–already died in the process. Better strategy next time!
I have to fight 5 of these assassins to move on to the next main quest, but they’re 1400 words a piece and I’ve taken down only one assassin so far. I don’t use up all the time allotted to get rid of the beasties. I write as fast as I can and move on to the next. So no breaks and it makes it hard to write that many words all at once. I tend to tackle small word monsters so I can take breaks to let the dogs out, but still finish quests and have fun.
I hardly see the chickadees sit for any length of time to get a good shot. This one was waiting on a dove to vacate the feeder. They are so tiny and move so fast.
Hope you all are staying safe! Looking forward to a better new year in the future, but it will take some time to get there. And if tons of people refuse to get the vaccine, then we’re going to have a rougher time of it ahead. But maybe those of us who do want it will get it sooner than we’re hoping for. I always try to look at the bright side of things.
Flip-flopping between stories, but I’m having fun fighting monsters. I fought the wrong one for a quest this morning though, so didn’t get the quest item. Same monster, but had to fight it in a different area. *sigh* But I got word count, and that’s all that really matters.
So I’ve been switching from Dangerous Liaisons (vampire adult), Bite of the Vampire (YA), A Date with a Wolf (novella, Silence of the Wolf), Warrior Elf (book 3 in the World of Elves, YA), Dawn of the Jaguar (novella), You Had Me at Cougar, to Bear in Mind. I don’t work on all of them every day, sometimes one, sometimes two, sometimes three of them when I can’t figure out where I am going with another. Even on Christmas Day I managed 2100 words. My normal word count goal is 2,000 words, so I never figured getting that much done. We were busy from about 9 am until 11 pm. So it’s been really a help to me to keep focused when I do have time. A Date of the Wolf is nearly done, Dawn of the Jaguar is halfway done.
I’m off to write. No running around madly for after Christmas sales. I only did it once years ago, won’t ever do it again.
