Even though I love nature for nature’s sake, sometimes something like this simply made garden structure is really appealing. The little brick wall and stone patio add to it. And I loved the old fashioned lantern right in the center of the arbor.
It made me want to stop and enjoy it as much as I would stop to enjoy taking pictures of the flowers.

What I liked:
I am a Terry Spear fan from way back. And hearing that she had a new series out about another group of shifters was tantamount to Christmas for me. Spear has a way of writing that not only pulls the reader in, but it also keeps them interested and not just through one particular novel, but through everything they can possibly find that she’s written. She has an easy word flow and style that makes her writing accessible and engaging. Her characters are always intense and well developed and her world building is beyond phenomenal and I was so excited to see where she would go with her new cougar shifters. I was certainly not disappointed. Yuma is quite a town!
Bottom Line:
This is an exceptional paranormal romance. Terry Spear never disappoints. She creates characters that readers can relate to, whether they are paranormal or not. Her world building is a real strength in her writing, as is her easy style and humor. If you are looking for an engaging love story that just happens to involve cougar shifters, this one is one to read.

I love simple structures myself, and I am so impressed with the depth of your output. I’ve only completed two novels, and one is still being edited. I don’t normally read paranormal, but I have promised myself a treat with your book to get a better sense of the genre
I love them too, Peter. I’ll have to post a picture of rose bushes next to wrought iron ornaments. I love them, but was concentrating on the roses. I have a comment about the wrought iron work, and yes, it even made the roses stand out more. And I hadn’t been even thinking of that. 🙂
Thanks so much on the writing! The first year that I wrote an adult romance, before this, I was penning children’s stories because I was teaching my children to read and created my own stories for them too, but between reading every book on writing and researching the historical period of time I was writing in, it took me a year. The next year, I wrote 2 whole novels. The next 5. 🙂
Some books just come to me. Not in a dream or anything. I just have an idea–an opening, and then I run with it. In other books, I have to write a while before it comes to me. I do a lot of brainstorming. Like, I have the book I’m currently working on that I have to turn in by Jun 30, so I need to figure out how I’m going to wrap it up. 13,000 words to go. This is the minimum. I usually go well over that. Then I have a book due Nov 1, A Silver Wolf Christmas, but once I finish SEAL, I’ll begin to work on the Viking/Highland story. I also have an anthology I’m going in with some authors on and that will be coming out next Feb. I promised Call of the Cougar by the end of the year, and Phantom Fae, the teen book. LOL That’s a lot. Even for as fast as I write, and often I get bogged down. So I hope I haven’t taken too big of a wolf bite of it!
On the paranormal–I’ve loved ghost stories and myths and legends from around the world as a kid. My mother took me to see Dracula at a community college theater, and that was my first taste of Dracula. I felt so bad for him because he just wanted to be loved. 🙂 The same with Wolfman, later in the movies. He wasn’t a bad guy, just morphed into a beast. I loved Jack London’s tales: White Fang and Call of the Wild, I loved the wolves and in one, it had the POV of the wolf cub. Even though it had been many, many years from then, I think it still lived on in my memories and so when I wrote my first werewolf romance, I based it on real wolf behavior, that they retained their true human nature, yet had some of the enhanced abilities that real wolves had even in their human form. And they needed to be loved. LOL Everybody deserves a HEA. 🙂
