I need to come up with two more wolf stories. Who hasn’t had a story that needs one? I also want to finish Angel Fae, halfway done, and a couple of other stories like that too that are YA. 🙂 <3 And one jaguar novella too!!!

Turned in White Wolf Moon. Need to begin typing up notes I wrote for Christmas Wolf Surprise. Hopefully, I’ll get back to my 2,000 words per day goal. I have a ton of things to do today though. It’s going to be hectic, then dinner with the kids and their friend.
Shooting pains in my wrist in the middle of the night. I envisioned all kinds of bad scenarios since the doctor said the bone can shift.
Have a super fun day! I’ve been running this morning to get things done, but want to finally settle down and write.
Write a million stories. After spending another day on the book, I finally reached the end and I want to write anything other than the books I have to write. It’s really frustrating to have to go through this process with an editor.
I’ll start going through it again today to rewrite sections she wrote that are not my voice, but my granddaughter is here. I had to have my SIL help me with a bunch of little things when he dropped her off this morning–unable to open the new milk container, or the tops on the sippy cups to wash them, etc., with this fractured wrist. I’m counting down the days when 6 weeks have passed and I see the dr and hopefully he says it’s all healed and I can go back to all my normal activities. It’s only been a week though so far and still giving me pain–probably from sprained ligaments.
A friend of mine says her WW group leader said we need to talk about 3 things that went right for you today. So I do that every day with her. It’s fun to do and I always accomplish at least 3 things daily, though my energizer bunny self has had to slow down a bit because of the injury.

So the doctor said it wouldn’t help to have a cast, that the break could shift either in the splint or cast. Great. I asked if I could type and he said lightly. It’s still giving me a lot of pain, so I hope it will heal quickly, not shift, and stop hurting.
I got edits for a 385 page book, that’s due early September, and there goes making my Oct 1 deadline probably on this other book.
The new editor practically rewrote my book. Voice, voice, voice. If someone else rewrites your book, it no longer is your book. And your fans say, this is not Terry’s book. And they buy my books for MY voice. If she wants to write her own book, go for it. But don’t use my story to do it.
This has happened a couple of times to me in the past. I remember just going along with it for one of them, thinking the editors knew best, but when it came out readers didn’t think it was my book. My name is on the book, so I need to say no when I need to.
The last time some years ago, they threw out the editor’s work. But this time they don’t have enough time. As if I do!!!!! And on this book, they lost it for a couple of months even though I had turned it in a month early, so I was unhappy about that because I work my butt off to get my books in on time, early even so I can begin work on the next deadline book. Anyway, it’s a long book, and I’m 117 pages into it and I’ve come to yet again another whole made up scene that’s not my voice.
Some of it doesn’t fit with the story, definitely not the characters, and logically not even in real life. Sometimes she writes a comment that an editor needs to check the narrative to make sure what she has added is correct. This story ties back to the first in the white wolf books–Legend of the White Wolf–and she obviously hasn’t read it. So no, often the narrative doesn’t fit. I feel sometimes she has her own made up love story going on.
What to change as an editor? Mistakes! Cut repetitive stuff. If I haven’t explained enough of the wolf’s world, do it for new readers to the series. But don’t rewrite an author’s story! It’s not my voice.
Years ago, a writer friend of mine had written a number of books and published them and then she got an editor to really go over one to see if she could grow. A disaster. She has a unique voice. Once the editor rewrote the story, it was technically correct, but it had lost what made the author’s voice hers. It was a humdrum, boring book.
I’m not the only one who has had this issue. Not that I’d want to wish it on other authors, but I’m glad it’s just not me.
So I did manage the 117 pages yesterday and 1,000 words still on the new book. Off to work on the edits some more and hope to get another 100 pages done. I had to get dog food for the dogs yesterday, so no running errands today, which should help.

Managed 3,000 words yesterday Christmas Wolf Surprise–up to 13K and edits on USF Christmas. Little one is here so I won’t get much done. I have to call and see if I can get an ortho appt soonest, but they don’t open until 8.
Had to replace my monitor–it’s been going out on me for a year. Cable wouldn’t work so SIL has some extra ones to swap out tonight. It’s amazing how much lighter weight they are.
This was actually a mermaid statue my dad bought, to my mother’s embarrassment. I painted the mermaid’s face to give her more of a human quality. He happily showed it off to all their friends and my mother planted all kinds of plants around it to hide it as much as she could. lol
Thanks to my daughter, I went in to get my wrist xrayed. I wasn’t going to. I figured it was just a sprain and though it’s still swollen and hurts, I went in to humor her. It’s a fracture. So thanks to my SIL who got me a splint right after it happened from CVS, and to my daughter who insisted I have it checked out. Now the hard part.
It took me 4 days before I could get an xray because of COVID cases. Can I get an orthopedic appt to see if I need a cast? Hopefully not surgery.
A business owner was shot six times in Houston, just horrific, but he has a broken leg and he can’t get surgery because of all the COVID patients. It’s just awful. I hope he gets the surgery soon so he can begin rehab.
So hopefully my wrist will be fine with sticking with the splint or maybe a cast if they can do it. But I have to say it really crimps my typing and I can’t hold a heavy camera.
I did win one of the art contests though and that was really nice news. And I did manage 2,000 words yesterday.
We had thunderstorms last night, lots of thunder, no rain. *sigh*
Okay, I”m off to get some edits and new scenes typed up to work on my next 2,000 words, maybe 3K if I can manage. I’m at 10K today. 70K to go!
Created the centaur and jaguar with DAZ 3D, and the cave was from Story Art, and I added a couple of Daily Textures, plus color adjustments.
I managed another 3,000 words on Christmas Wolf Surprise, so up to 8,000 words. I’m hoping to get to the first 10,000 today. The weeks really go by so quickly that there’s not time to lose. Plus, I got my beta reads back, thanks, ladies! And I need to make changes on USF Christmas.
In the meantime, I’m off to type up the stuff I wrote last night before lights out. I’ll be taking some time off this morning to have my wrist x-rayed, though I don’t think it even has a hairline fracture. I’m sure I just sprained it badly, but my daughter wanted me to have it checked out. It really aches this morning like it does every day and is still very swollen. But I think it’s getting better.

Despite a swollen and sore wrist, I managed to get 3,000 words done on Christmas Wolf Surprise, now at 5k, need 75k. I took a break to create the dragon picture. Anyway, I started to figure out how much I had to write daily to get minimum word count in time (80K), and it will be by the last day before this is due. That’s taking off the 2 days a week I take care of my granddaughter and the week I’ll be visiting my son and DIL. But hopefully, I’ll get some done during that time also because I usually write about 90K, so I need an allowance for that.
I had a hard time sleeping last night–not just because of the sprained wrist, but because of thinking of the story and where I need to go next with it, which is a good thing. So I’m hoping I can get going on it and get some quality writing in.
I finally made an appt at urgent care to have my wrist x-rayed tomorrow. The area is swamped with COVID cases and getting in for anything else is hard to do. Surprisingly I don’t have bruising, but just lots of swelling and of course difficulty with twisting stuff, can’t hold anything of weight in that hand and yesterday I didn’t think I’d get my granddaughter out of her car seat because the one fastener is so hard to push and I have to do it with both hands. Talk about painful.
Okay, I’m off to try and remember all the scenarios I was thinking about last night, but too tired to write down!
I fell yesterday, tripping over a hose and badly sprained my wrist. So dumb, I know.
No fun typing. I did manage to get the first 2,000 words yesterday on Christmas Wolf Surprise and hope to get the same today, but this isn’t easy! I would have had more yesterday, but it’s a struggle.
