A USF Christmas Novella is Done!

I took the picture at the Jurassic World drive-thru exhibit of a baby dinosaur and this was an art challenge where you create an Oscraps border.

A United Shifter Force Christmas is done! I wrapped it up last night and this morning I wrote the synopsis. It’s off to beta readers. Thanks, ladies!!

It’s always so satisfying to finish a story! But I don’t have any time to waste on celebrations or taking time off.

The red wolf Christmas novel is next and the title is now Christmas Wolf Surprise. This is Maverick’s story. He runs the reindeer ranch and his brother is a retired police detective, helping his mate run her antique store. They’re all red wolves out of Portland, Oregon.

I had to already come up with a synopsis for it, so last night I began writing it. I think I have a good start on it. But now I have to keep at it until it’s done!

It will be another scorcher today. A good day to stay in and write about snow.

The Snow Leopard and the Yeti

I created the snow leopard and yeti from Daz 3D, the rocks also, and then added lots of texture layers.

This is like being between a rock and a hard place. Making tough choices. Waking up on the wrong side of the bed. Conflict. OR…it could be they’re just playing. What do you think?

I’ve got to ship some books today to a fan who is sending them to a friend in New Zealand. It’s time to get more done on United Shifter Force Christmas. I have one major scene to write, and I wanted to add in another USF–easy to fix mission in, but I may have to make it just a Christmas mission instead since I can’t think of anything.

Scraps of Art

A color challenge activity. I added all the elements then changed the color of the sky to show a sunset, changed the kids’ clothes, the color of the fish, the lake, the sail on the sailboat.

I made quite a lot of progress on the novella yesterday! Yay! But I still have a way to go before I sleep. Like all the books I’ve written, I wanted to have a nice twist, something I haven’t ever done before. I’ve written about a 100 books, so coming up with something new is always a challenge, but I had it and I ran with it. Now I just need to write a couple of more scenes and I’m done. I’m up to 27K. Needed 20K minimum.

Little one is here today, so going to our last swim day, painting rocks, writing letters and doing other workbooks, reading, taking a walk, maybe starting a new sewing project. She wants to stay overnight with Grandma–“Sleepover, sleepover,” she said when I had burgers with them last night.

We’re going to have one Friday coming up. I need to finish this novella and she’s not conducive to writing, though we have a lot of fun. I did sleep over on Friday night because the AC had gone out again, so she came into my guest bedroom at 6:30 in the morning and was talking away. Luckily, I was awake. lol So we read stories and she was disappointed that I didn’t stay over last night so she could visit with me in the morning.

Playing Around with Art

I’ve been trying to finish A USF Christmas novella, so worked on it all day yesterday while the guys were replacing the coils on the AC, no AC for hours. But I was glad I wasn’t working in the heat in the attic where they were. I would have expired. It’s all cool now.

Then my daughter sent me a note about a new dog boarding facility that is closer to us–yay! So I was setting up an account for future use. I still need to upload their vaccination records.

But now, I’m back to the book!

The Frog Prince

I was working on another art submission. We had to have the layout of text the same way that they wanted but using any text, elements, etc. So this is Tanner wearing a frog prince hat for Halloween, and overlay to make him a frog prince, and NLD Designs frog prince scraps art work.

I edited more of USF Christmas novella. I need to make the changes this morning and then start writing new scenes. I have word count, just need to finish it!

The Eternal Optimist

I created this with a photo of seagulls in flight in Daytona Beach and other items from Oscraps.

No AC again. Ugh. And I was supposed to get a delivery and waited all day for it, but the person that was supposed to deliver it decided he didn’t want to, and said I wasn’t there, when I was. All. Day. No one came to the door.

So they’re going to try and fix the AC today, if they can get the coils in, but they only work a half day. Not sure about it. I stayed with the kids last night because it’s so hot at the house. But I’ll be at my house all day, if they’re going to come to fix the AC. Again. Hopefully it will be. If not, I’ll probably stay at their home again tomorrow night. I need to take the dogs in and out and feed them, so I have to be home for some of the day.

But I AM going to get lots done on this novella this weekend. I’m determined.

I wanted to get so much more done on the novella, did a lot, but had so much craziness today, didn’t get as far as I wanted to.

Today I learned a group of employees went to a conference–can’t give details–but they went to a bar after their meetings during the day and were drinking out of a communal bowl of liquor. Swapping spit, ewww. Did you know you can get mouth herpes that way?

It’s bad enough during normal times, but to drink from a container that everyone else is drinking from too now??????? These people are all educated too, but hey, get drunk, lose brain cells. Four are in the hospital with COVID, countless others all came down with COVID. I guess alcohol doesn’t kill the virus, right?

Okay, so today is the first day of the rest of my life, and that means, I’m going to get somewhere with this book, AC, or no AC, delivery, or no delivery. Never give up, never surrender.

New Cover for Silence of the Wolf!

Okay, little one is here, I’ve been majorly revising USF Christmas. The problem with adding an earlier scene and taking out murdered victims, means a lot of reworking. I’ve also been doing some of the art challenges.

One of the contests was to have a theme so this one is about Opening the World of Romance and Magic in Books.

Little one is here early, so we’ve already had breakfast, walked, put garbage out, changed a smoke detector’s battery, now it’s grocery shopping, pool time, rock painting, workbooks, naptime, snack time and sewing and whatever else we can get into.

Doing More Fun Art Challenges

These are with Oscraps products so you have to have them to do the contests. This one was using a certain color palette they gave. The orange cat is a photo I took. I won another of the contests! Not with this one, but another.

New month, new challenges.

My air conditioner went out and it was 85 in the house and MUGGY. So I’ve had to have a new one put in and it won’t come in until this afternoon. I slept at the kids’ house, but boy was their AC low. I had seven blankets on the bed to keep me from freezing. Now I’m back at home and in the heat and humidity. lol

The AC people did give me a loaner portable AC, so I’m using it now and it’s helping. Talk about trying to come up with Christmas cold when I feel I’m sitting in the heat outside! lol

A Final Vote for the Anthology Title

I ended up with this on the Shadow Elf Cover. The updated book is up on most sites, but I’m working on the print cover now. And Amazon Kindle has done something strange so my Vellum upload isn’t going through. I sent an email to them to find out how to correct the MOBI file, but no response yet.

Missed my blog yesterday. I was trying to get a million things done yesterday–including getting The Shadow Elf’s updated book up and working on the print cover, and then my granddaughter was here. I spent most of the time doing things with her–art projects, reading, workbooks, and then the next-door neighbor’s granddaughter came over and we did more art projects. Though I have to act the mediator oftentimes. Both are stubborn to a fault and both have to have things their way. The neighbor’s girl is 2 1/2 years older than my granddaughter, and at 4 and 6 1/2, there’s a lot of difference.

But they still have fun and my granddaughter doesn’t want her to go and she doesn’t want to leave. lol But Grandma’s glad to have time to work on HER stuff when everyone’s gone.

So I did the changes on A United Shifter Force Christmas, changing things from murder and mayhem, to just mayhem. I’m at that phase where I can’t sleep because I keep thinking about how I want to add to the story and finish it up. I was thinking that if this takes too much longer, I’m going to have trouble getting my Christmas full length novel done in time.

We’ve got another vote on the title for the anthology for anyone who wants to have their say.

I’m off to work on A United Shifter Force Christmas and add a scene I thought of this morning. Well, I’ve been mulling it over for a few days, just couldn’t think of where to include it.

And I’m still on the downward trend on my weight! Yay! I want to lose 7 more lbs. And maybe more after that, but I feel great even now.

Changing the Cover–The Shadow Elf

So some of my fans wanted me to add dragons to the cover. I have a dragon familiar that is small and then the large dragons they ride. So I figured either would work. And it does look more like a mythical fantasy like they are.

Well, I need to get back to the Christmas book today. I did manage to do 4,000 words yesterday. It has murder and mayhem, like most of my books, so I was thinking of how I could take out the murder and make it another issue, just so it’s a little more Christmassy. I had to get the murder story out of my system. Maybe I can use it for another story. If I leave it like it is, I only have 1K to go!

Anyway, got to get to work on writing.
